I say cast unknowns for the new movie. Try Hamill, Fisher, and Ford. Two unknowns and one B list actor.

Seriously what is the need to have big names crowd the screen? Why don't we throw in Christian Bale as the new evil Sith Lord or perhaps the entire cast of Glee can make an appearance as the band of the new Hutt Lord. Christ, turn this into a gimmick fest why don't we. Just come up with an engaging story arc that will get the audience CARING again about the characters. The one issue the prequels had was you KNEW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. Like watching Titanic. When yuo know the ending it somewhat spoils it.

Oh and there is nothing more erotic than a dwarfish female in a Ewok costume that is horny. Just saying.

Laz, that was wacked out.....  O.o

@axia & Sarcastic,

Didn't stopping Force Lightning with a lightsaber come from one of the novels, too? It worked out pretty handy for Obi-Wan.

Also I remember in one doc about Lucas that he got the idea of a "primitive" culture defeating a hi-tech one from the Vietnam war. With all the sophisticated weaponry America had they had to fight tooth and nail against a barefooted farm culture that was very creative and firm in their desire. Unfortunately, similar to our experience in Afghanistan now.

I also missed the rogue type character in the prequels. Someone like Han serves as the audience's surrogate in the new enviornment, saying and asking the same things they would in each situation.

 @monkeyfoot - exactly.  If tech always trumps less sophisticated weapons, somebody should have told the Zulu nation...and the Battle of Little Big Horn would have gone much differently.

Still would have been cooler with anything besides anthropomorphic teddy bears, but whatever.  LOL

Axia, surprise goes a long way in any battle.  Could they defeat the stations security with such an attack, yes.  Could they have done it without the rebel troopers assistance?  Not sure.  Could they do it again?  Probably not.

@monkeyfoot - I get the whole Vietnam analogy but the Viet Cong were fighting out of a deep ass jungle that did more for killing the US Military than the guns they were fighting with. That is a far cry from the Redwood trees of California. Sorry, but no dice on that one.

Afghanistan is also a far cry from the Redwood trees of California. Those mountains are huge, high, cold as frozen hell, and desolate beyond comprehension. More similar to Hoth. So again, no dice. Lucas failed with the Ewoks. The Empire in reality would have scrubbed that planet in an afternoon from space. Again, Wookies can rip a mans arm off, have modern weapons, and space travel capabilities. Wookies > Ewoks 4 Ever.

I do agree that I missed the rougish characters from the Prequels and it an excellent point.  I look forward to a scruffy, old, but still tough as a tree root Han Solo.  I picture him as an man who is forced into duty but really does not want it one little bit.

 I'm suddenly reminded of the "Caveman vs. Astronaut" debate that Angel and Spike had.

axia777 11/20/2012 2:18:58 PM

@Caveman - LMAO - Classic my man, classic.

SarcasticCaveman 11/20/2012 2:20:10 PM

 Just glad somebody here knows what I'm talking about...LOL
