Personally, Nightwatch and Daywatch annoy me to no end.  The director / producer doesn't like magic and supernatural elements, and tried to cut as much as he could from the movie.  If you don't like magic / fantasy, why the hell are you making a movie which is built on those principles?

jedi, you don't have to hide your contempt under false laughs.

But yeah, USA rocks

Battle Royalle and its sequel are well worth a watch. I saw the first because of Takeshi Kitano of Violent Cop fame. Also, 2046 is an excellent film. As for doing it better in Hollywood, I would agree that overall Hollywood produces superior films, however, there are certainly foriegn films that far outshine almost anything done in the US in tthe same genre. Spend a little time with John Woo's films or Andy Lau's films or Akira Kurosawa's films. Infernal Affairs was a superior film to The Departed in so many ways.

I 2nd the City of Lost Children assessment, this had to have been an oversight.

Solaris was brilliant. A great adaptation from the book.

There's a lot of cool ones missing: Tetsuo (Japan), Acción Mutante (Spain), Delicatessen (France, same director of City of Lost Children), Sleep Dealer (Mexico),  Man Facing Southwest (Argentina) and The Experiment (Germany). But it's not as bad as some lists I've seen before here.

Most of the times, american remakes suck so bad they diminish the source material: Open Your Eyes got remade as Vanilla Sky, [rec] as Quarantine, Wings of Desire as City of Angels, Swept Away as Madonna's Swept Away, La Femme Nikita as Point of No Return... the list is long, it sucks badly, and it's growing:  Le Diner Des Cons is being remade as Dinner For Schmucks (Note: "Con" doesn't mean "Schmuck"), Let The Right One In and the Millenium trilogy are on the way too.

So far, the only remakes that I've thought were actually interesting were The Ring and 12 Monkeys.  The Departed wasn't as good or interesting as the original.

If Chilren of Men qualifies as foreign it would go on my list.  I'm not 100% clear on its background.  I know Cuaron isn't American and it was shot in UK with a UK cast so I'm thinking it's foreign. But yeah, absolutely loved that film.

Time Bandits

The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassius

US rocks in the Gulf of Mexico are covered in oil thanks BP (Big problem or prosecuted ) Oil. Too bad they those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq were a lie they could have plugged the pipe. Oh wait England helped with that.
