So many choices.  i do like the idea of adding the UNSC/Covenant War.  I do agree the Formic war from Ender's Game shold be there, Babylon 5 and DS9 have to be 2 of my all time Fav show especially when the wars started up.

World War Z is amazing beyon my imagination becasue Brooks was able to tie in what we all know would happen into an awsome storyline.  I really hope a film can do this justice.

As for Worldwar I'd never heard of it but I'm heading out at lunch to grab the first novel and start.

I'm surprised they would mention something like The Kree-Skrull War and fail to mention The Great War (of Cybertron).  The Transformers have been fighting an all out war for almost thirty years now, with no forseeable end in sight and somehow this doesn't make the list.  Who would overlook such a thing? A war so large it's spawned three live action movies, one animated movie, and close to the world's largest single toy line.

 Formic Wars for the win!

What? No love for the Formic war from the Ender series??

Chris Beveridge 3/9/2011 9:50:18 AM

The Forever War was by Joe Haldeman.

There's a ton of great choices to be had. Really need to do more of split, focusing on theatrical/movie battles and novels. Robert Jordan's stuff is just epic in scale and scope, but Peter Hamilton's books with the Confederacy and the nanotech machines wins hands down.

What about the "Unification War" in Firefly/Serenity? Always like a Have-Have Not themed war, or anything for Independentce.

Babylon 5 was spectacular and very underrated.  Glad to see it made the list.

Overall great list, in fact.

Glad to see someone else mentioning the Formic Wars and the Unification Wars.

Still was surprised at some of the choices, especially the copout of "Third World War".
Thought these were supposed to be "specific".

How about the Man-Kzin wars?
The Rise of the Robots from the Terminator Series?
The martian wars in Burroughs John Carter series?
The Vong war in SW?

So many to choose from...

Great list!.Although I would found a spot for the Terminator Future War.By the The Forever War was written by Joe Haldeman. Also notable would have been Harlan Ellisons' Man-Kyben War which has been in print and on TV.The Outer Limits (Original) Episode "Demon With A Glass Hand"being the chief example. There is a long-standing rumor that when J. Michael Straczynski was shopping B5 around for an interested studio to pick it up,Paramount was one of the places he took it.When they took the pitch, they said they weren't interested.Shortly after DS9 appeared, with a very rushed-into-production look in it's first year.Supposedly.
