thank you for mentioning the pianist in the paragraph. I remember seeing that in theatres and thinking it was a great film and I went and bought it on DVD when it came out...but have still never watched the DVD. Life is Beautiful is probably the last movie i cried watching.

If i had to pick something that wasn't mentioned...I would say Garden State

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM SUCKED!!!  This was not a great movie.  Filmmaking is about storytelling and if you have to make a movie this messed up to make your story interesting then it is bad.  This film uses shock value as a gimmick to disguise it's poor writing.  Just as Quentin Tarantino uses violence to distract from his crappy storytelling skills.

The Deer Hunter

I could go on and on. There are lots of movies I would classify as good, maybe great, but wouldn't watch again. These are just a few.

I agree Wallyrus, Requiem for a Dream sucked big time. But filmmaking is about more than just storytelling. It's also about imagery, shots, editing, tone, etc.

Requiem was awesome but just because you watched a movie that made your vagina hurt doesn't mean it was made for shock value and by the way it was a novel first.

And real life can be exactly what happened in Requiem so I don't know what you're talking about anyway.

I dunno, I never get enough of JC getting his ass beat.  Passion is off this list.

But yea, Requiem, The  Seventh Seal are great choices.  And I still watch SAW, but it's a once a year thing, rather than a repeated abusing.

I am NOT religious at all.  But I went to watch the Passion.  Why?  My ex-father in law PAID my ex-wife and I $200 dollars to go watch it!  I shit you not.  Yes, he is Chrisitan.  What did I think?  It was one of the the only real snuff films I have ever seen.

It was one of the most violent pieces of film I have ever seen.  More so than any slasher horror movie ever made.  It is more violent than any Rob Zombie movie.  I have a strong stomach.  I even considered being a mortician(really).  But the Passion of the Christ made me ill.  It also made me cry.  Not because it is Christ, but because of the vile way humans can treat each other.  I won't every eatch that movie again even if someone paid me $1000 to watch it.  In fact, I wish I never did watch it.

I also agree about the Sixth Sense.  I tried to watch it again but once was enough.  Once the "twist" end was revealed the movie is actually kind of boring.  Unbreakable is M Nights best movie IMHO.  I can watch it again and it is still great.

I can still watch Bully because of all the female nudity lol.  But otherwise, good list lol.

Oh, and I can obviously watch A Clockwork Orange plenty of times.

Interesting list, I've seen all the films but the anime and "The Road". I'm glad to hear "The Road" is faithfull to the book since I just started reading it and am planing on checking the film out on the weekend.

I would have added to the list

"cannibal Holocaust" - 'cause I'm an animal lover and that movie is brutal

"Nekromantik" - The ending of that movie to this very day makes me feel queezy when I think about it.

"salo" - That one really got under my skin like very few films have, I felt sad, dirty, disgusted, angry and it was on my mind for days after I saw it.
