If The Simpsons ever has a series finale, it will be a momentous occasion.

I also feel that the MASH finale should have the top spot, and liked the Newhart finale as well.  I actually liked the Cheers finale episode myself.

Man, I was a HUGE Shield fan but I didn't like the series final.  It was too much like the Sapranos ending which they made a point of saying they weren't going to do. 

Some of these shows I never watched.  A special nod goes out to Jericho!  The next American Civil war!!  I would have liked to see what happened after but the fact they tied up all the questions and ended it that way was cool.   I think Babylon 5 should be on here as well.
 

BSG will forever be in debate...4 million people watched the show and half of them hated the finale,the other half loved it.   All Along The Watchtower makes no sense to me since they had them as OUR past....now the future, I could have bought the song but oh well...I still liked the final overall but far from as good as it could have been.

I liked this list. I don't know if it should be included on this list or not but the Star Trek Deep Space Nine finale was pretty good. There were very few if any happy endings on that finale.

I am curious...reading your comments.  Kara, what's Blakes 7?  Never heard of it but you make it sound cool.

I liked Quantum Leaps final. I agree the should could have lasted a few more seasons but the overall ending to it was good.  Not every ending is a happy one. 

 I agree with almost everything on this list... but what about Cheers? I'd put that up with M*A*S*H remember getting kinda teary-eyed when Sam turns away a faceless customer at the door, "Sorry, we're closed"...

I agree with Angel, but the Buffy finale was also very kick-ass, one of the best episodes of the entire series -- I love it when the Sunnydale sign just squeaks and falls into the crater!

How about Xena. Killing off the main character halfway through the episode and having the balls to keep her dead in the end (and giving her a warrior's death at that)

I also really liked the Seinfeld finale. I know most people disagree but I really liked how they brought back all the characters the four of them wronged over the years, especially the deported Indian, Babu. It also gave me some hope that we would see them soon as they were only going to be in prison for a year. Of course that never really happened but it was nice to think about. I know they reunited on Curb Your Enthusiasm but it wasn't quite the same.

Hobbs, Blake's 7 was a BBC scifi show from the '70s.  It lasted for 4 seasons.  It was about Roj Blake, a revolutionary against the evil, Galaxy spanning Federation, a repressive tolotarian government.  Blake and his crew got ahold of an advanced alien space ship, which they named The Liberator, and flew hither and yon to different planets fighting the Federation and blowing stuff up.

At least for the first 2 seasons.  Then the actor who played Blake, Gareth Thomas, wanted to move on to something different (as british actors seem to like to do) so Blake was lost (not killed) in battle and the captiancy of The Liberator was taken over by Ker Avon who led the group for the seasons 3 & 4.

It was quite an interesting show.  The FX were... primitive.  If you've seen classic Dr Who with the rubber monsters and styrofoam boulders you know what I mean.  But the scripts were (mostly) really good.  The acting from the main characters was great (though the guest stars could be a little iffy) and Paul Darrow, who played Avon, won the british version of the Emmy three years running.

I don't know if any network in the Western world would produce a story glorifying terrorists (which was what Blake and his crew were) now.  But it was great while it lasted and the ending was killer.

I have the series on VHS, bought it like 15 years ago.  I don't know if it is available in the US on DVD.

Stargate SG1 final was pretty good, depressing in a sense but was handled well in my opinion. 

ST:TNG finale was exceptional and made me feel sour that the show was cancelled so they could pump out movies. 

BSG: Was a good ending to a good show however I can see why folks felt cheated with Starbucks vanishing into thin air.  Wish they addressed that better other than leave the audience hanging on a major plot thread.

Im hoping the LOST finale lives up to the hype and answers all our questions but I got a feeling it'll fall into the BSG cateogry, good ending but will leave a few plot holes open but hopefully I'm wrong.

I think Six Feet Under was probably the most satisfying finale I've ever seen, maybe not the "best" finale, but definitely the most satisfying.  I mean, you get to see exactly what happens to every character.
