Call of Duty looks and plays great, but I'm reserving right to call it a must have...a friend bouught it  and he beat the game the very next day so the emphasis on mmo is priority(plus..the guy really sucks at games...lol). not that im against MMO's but I got a mouth to feed, art to do and I can't afford catch EVERQUEST SYNDROME. Otherwise I like the list..though i agree BATMAN should be higher and Ghostbusters included.

I like the list.  Some i've heard of some I haven't.  I think the list is geared toward games that if you are off for some days during the Holidays you won't plow through in a day or two.  I love Modern Warfare 2 but you can clear it pretty quickly.  The Special Ops is so much better than some of the gameplay.  But I like the game.

I am going to grap Arkham on Boxing day along with a couple others as I have a week of work from Xmas.  But like someone else said I like how this list makes you think about the games a bit.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was AWESOME.  I can't wait for this semester to be over so I can play through it again.

Wow I didn't realize this was posted already.  Thanks for all the comments, guys  :)  I had fun writing this one.

Some quick explainations:  I most definitely love Uncharted 2, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, New Super Mario Bros., and all the huuuuuge titles but I was trying to think of games that aren't epically huge hits right now.  I mean, we all know CoD is epic, and Assassin's Creed is just cool, so it doesn't really need to be said.  There really isn't an order to the list, at least that isn't what I was going for, because that would be way too difficult.  Batman is just amazing, but so is Dragon Age, Borderlands, Ratchet, there's just a lot to choose from so I didn't want to say, "This one is number one," because I like all of them for different reasons.

As for Ghostbusters, I had to limit it to 10, which was hard enough.  But Ghostbusters is awesome.  So is Resident Evil 5 -- even if it doesn't feel like a Resident Evil -- but again, had to choose 10.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

First of all Tekken?  Shin Megami-whatever? Kingdom Hearts? Really?

Arkham definitely needs to be in the top 3 and really deserves the top slot if these are the games you are citing.  Ratchet and Clank was great, and I've heard good things about Borderlands, but the fact that Halo 3 ODST  is absent from this list along with Assassin's Creed 2 and the solid but overhyped Modern Warfare 2 makes the inclusion of Tekken and Kingdom Hearts on this list a bit incomprehensible.  ODST is probably a better bet for Halo fans in general since like Modern Warfare 2 the campaign can be bested by a skilled player on the hardest setting in a matter of hours, but all of the multiplayer features and the firefight mode make it a must have.  Assassin's Creed 2 takes the potential of the first installment and lives up to it.  It is in every way shape and form a masterpiece.  The God of War re-release of the first two games on the PS3 is a must buy for fans of the franchise.  Kratos has never looked or played better Hanso so pick it up.  Thirty bucks for two classics, and it's a good primer for the third game due out in March.  Forza 3 also deserves a mention.

I really wanted to like Dragon Age Origins.  I even paid for the collector's edition, and about six or seven hours in I just couldn't take it anymore and traded it in.  Bioware's last epic RPG Mass Effect was a rough around the edges masterpiece, and Mass Effect 2 is going to be jaw droppingly awesome.  I just didn't feel that Dragon Age brought anything fresh or new to the fantasy genre or RPG games in general.  Everything about it seemed dated, from the inventory system to the pseudo-turn based combat and magic systems.  The characters were vaguely interesting but the virtual lack of voiceover for the main character and text heavy dialogue in general seems like a massive step back from games like Mass Effect.    Dragon Age isn't half the game that Oblivion or Fallout 3 are, so sticking with it for 70 hours just wasn't in the cards for me.  The graphics are  equivilent to late-gen XBOX visuals at best, and aside from a decent character creation system I just couldn't find much to like.  The quests are all pretty linear, and the game world is pretty truncated and limited.    I know a lot of old school RPG fans are just tickled to death with this one, but for a lot of us the nostalgia wore off really fast, and when stacked up against Fallout 3, Oblivion and Mass Effect, this game just seems like an evolutionary throwback.

Uncharted 2 is on my list, along with Borderlands, and everybody should keep an eye out for the Sabateur early in December.

Too bad Bioshock 2, and Mass Effect 2 aren't due out until the new year.

If you're not sure about Dragon Age rent first.  If you're more into stuff like Oblivion and Fallout 3, don't commit until you've sampled it.

Dude you know I got the God of War Collection the day it came out.  How can I not? Kratos owns!  I wished they would've spent more time updating the game though, the cutscenes aren't in HD and look kinda weird.   Good thing about the GoW Collection is that it brings GoW 3 demo  which was crazy good, the game looks absolutely beautiful and like it will kick tons of ass.

I didn't like the look of Drago Age so I stayed away from it, they had it for $35 on Black Friday but even that didn't get me to buy it.

Sabatour i'll probably rent unless the reviews are off the chart.  Next games I'm buying wil be Bioshock 2 and God of War 3.

Uncharted 2 has t00 be the best game ive played in the last 5 years. It really raises the bar f0r all future games thus far.Cant wait intill G0w3/Bi0sh0ck2.

dragon age on the pc trumps the console versions obviously.  Im only a few hrs into it and so far I like it.  I just finished Batman and it was amazing.  I cant wait to see what Eidos and Rocksteady have instore for the second one.
