By Frank Garcia     November 09, 1999

With eight Canadian Gemini award nominations racked up, the recently cancelled Showtime series TOTAL RECALL 2070, starring Michael Easton, has won three technical awards in a ceremony in Toronto, Ontario, over the weekend. The Gemini awards are the Canadian equivalent of the American Emmy Awards.

Those walking home with a Gemini sculpture in hand are: Derick Underschultz, for Best Photography for a Dramatic Program or Series. The episode being recognized for the award was 'Restitution.'

Sharing the spotlight with him were Allen Ormerod, Steve Baine, Scott Shepherd and John Thomson for Best Overall Sound in a Dramatic Program or Series; and Stephen Barden, Joe Bracciale, Craig Henighan and E. Angie Pajek for Best Sound Editing in a Dramatic Program or Series. The episode being recognized for both awards was 'Machine Dreams, Part 1,' the series' pilot.

Series star Michael Easton was also nominated for his dramatic lead role as Detective David Hume but he lost the award to Michael Riley, who stars in POWER PLAY, a Canadian series about Hockey.

THE OUTER LIMITS also had a chance to capture the viewer-voted award, Canada's Choice Award, but lost to the popular--and cancelle--DUE SOUTH.
