Comic books weren't just fodder for feature films as two new comic book inspired properties moved forward in January.
The Cartoon Network announced a long-rumored animated version of DC Comics' JUSTICE LEAGUE, which went on to become one of the network's highest rated programs while receiving critical kudos. Fan favorite Bruce Timm fronted the show, who's roster included Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, the John Stewart Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl... but not Aquaman.
Meanwhile, Tom Welling signed on star in The WB TV network's SMALLVILLE TV series. The revisionist Superman series had the actor playing a teenage Clark Kent just growing into those vaunted superpowers. Later in the fall, the series opened to healthy ratings.
