I'll say this, I never saw The Dark Knight or Iron Man, the two most talked about Comic Book adaptations this year, in the theaters, but I did get them both for Christmas, and after watching both, I feel that Iron Man was the MUCH BETTER movie. Far more enjoyable, and entertaining, and Robert Downey Jr. is THE MAN!

Despite the brilliant acting job of Heath Ledger(and yes, he was amazing), The Dark Knight felt, well, "wrong", is the only thing I can think of to say. I wasn't as impressed with it as a whole, and it felt disjointed and never had a sense of direction.

Iron Man was fantastic! A blast! Downey's acting should have gotten AS MUCH praise as Ledgers, but because of Ledgers death, he got all the glory, or at least most of it. And I think that if Ledger hadn't died, The Dark Knight would never have attained as much popularity or press as it did.

Iron Man came across as the more inspired film, and though the ending was a tad rushed, the movie as a whole was a more enjoyable and fun filled romp than The Dark Knight. Downey's exceptional acting and subtle interactions with his little team of robots was both amazing, and even funny as he taked to them and interacted with them as though they were people. And lest we forget, Jeff Bridges proved once again how great an actor he is, with his slimey evil Obediah Stane! I didn't know before-hand that Jeff was in the movie, and after a couple of times that Obediah was on-screen did I go, "Wait, THAT'S Jeff Bridges!!!......Holy Shit!".

So, despite all the press and fanfair given to The Dark Knight, I would give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. I would give Iron Man 4 1/2 out of 5 stars, and call it THE BEST Comic Book adaptation to film ever done, period. This is MY opinion, and all you TDK fans will probably rake me over the coals, but I don't care. I have watched Iron Man 3 times since Christmas, and TDK once, and have no plans to watch it again any time soon. Iron Man rules, and Robert Downey Jr. is THE BEST! I'm so glad he's back!

I can't agree with the previous poster about TDK and Iron Man. I loved both movies and comparing the two is like apples and oranges. Both are extremely well done and work very well for different reasons. it's about time we got several comic book movies in the same year that are this well thought out and executed. Also, I really enjoyed The Incredible Hulk and thought that it was a lot of fun. While not quite as good as the previously mentioned flicks, I thoroughly enjoyed it and dont understand alot of the grief that it has recieved. Overall I thought this was a good year in review and enjoyed it. My only gripe was not mentioning The Dark Tower series from Marvel and Stephen King. Although this may not have begun this year they did start with all new stories and sold really well from what I understand. Anything that can create this much buzz and get people that usually wouldnt go into a comic shop to walk in should really have been mentioned. Keep up the good work!

Tino, as I said, I knew there would be those who disagree with my assessment, but I AM glad you didn't use childish tactics to say so. Thanks for that!

I know a lot of people who loved TDK. I also know a lot of people who loved Iron Man. I happen to be in the group who loved Iron Man. Yes, I will agree that comparing the two is like comparing, well, apples to oranges, but since both deal with "super-heroes", and are of a "comic book" adaptation, then they can be compared in some ways, and as I said, as far as I was concerned, Iron Man was just plain FUN and ENJOYABLE, where TDK was gloomy, morbid, and dark, hence its name. Mr. Ledger's performance aside, which was amazing, and as good if not better than I expected from the hype, didn't fill the void of the rest of the movie, for me. Where-as Mr. Downey's performance was so excellent, and the FILM as well, I was more thrilled and had a much better time watching Iron Man than TDK. I plan to put it on tonight while partying with friends for New Years for us to enjoy! And those friends agreed.....they want FUN, not gloom, on this night!

And it's such a great thing to have Robert Downey Jr. back on the big screen doing great characters/movies again! He was also hilarious in Tropic Thunder!! He has always been one of my favorites......it's just been a while due to his "problems", that we got the pleasure of seeing his acting skills in movies! I can't wait until Iron Man 2!!
