Pretty good list.  I'm sure we'd all have similiar lists with some rearranging.  A few additions and subtractions here and there.

My visual effects top 5 was pretty much the same except in the reverse order.

Tarantino is overrated.  Inventive filmaker, yes.  Makes entertaining films.  But he's only got one trick.  Chop up a movie into a scattered narrative and call them chapters and back it all with an ecclectic mix of 60's and foriegn songs.

I really think best visuals should go to Paranormal Activity.   (wink wink, nudge nudge)

wish I could chime in for all the categories here, but as I haven't seen most of them, I won't

as for best animated pic, considering all my fondness for Up, I still have to choose "Princess and the Frog" for the category...simply because Disney hasn't been this spectacular in over a decade...plus returning to the traditional animated format, with great gusto I might add, surely needs creative recognition

as for Neon Genesis...I think that may be on the list Maelstrom gave me for anime viewing...and I'm still scratching the surface of that list, still haven't touched the Stephen King or Scorsese lists...yet...

Like jdiggity said, why is The Hurt Locker here at all.

Just give all the awards to AVATAR and call it a day

No Coraline in Animated :'-(

Otherwise, cool noms
