
Variety reports that Toho is moving forward with a live action trilogy based on Naoki Urasawa's manga '20th Century Boys'.
Actor Toshiaki Karasawa is set to star in the trilogy as Kenji Endō, a convenience store manager who predicts the end of the world, and whose prophecies are coming true.
Etsushi Toyokawa and Takiko Tokiwa are also cast in the film.
The ambitious franchise will shoot in seven countries including the U.S., the U.K., Thailand and China. It's budgeted at $57 million.
The first film is slated for an August 30 release.
