23.5 Degrees: Bloodline Bloodbath

And just when we thought that the Bloodline had been squeezed of its last sanguineous drop, a curious character calling himself Glykon has slithered out of the shadows, claiming to represent the true guardians of the tomb of Mary Magdalene.
You may remember that, in my own review of Bloodline--The Movie I stated, "Some say that Hammott’s tomb is a Red Herring diversion away from a 'real' tomb, and some say that this location is only the Son of the Red Herring tomb, not even the Red Herring itself."
Therefore, when Glykon first appeared, there were so many convoluted coincidences in his claims - even down to the pub that was used for a meeting was the same pub that I myself have used many times - that I began to suspect that his group was the same group that had been "leaking" information to me, albeit under a new disguise.
So, although I am now convinced that any similarities are just pure serendipity, they certainly got my attention...
After the usual venomous recriminations that seem to haunt these investigations, Glykon's group finally revealed the url to an intriguing article which showed the alleged location of the relevant "secret tomb" in such unmistakable references that even I could manage to identify the location on the French IGN map of the area (2347 OT Quillan).
Is this the site of the real alleged tomb of Mary Magdalene or is it the infamous Red Herring diversion tomb? Have a look and decide for yourself.
But, as usual, it was what Glykon didn't say that was more fascinating than what he did...
For starters, the name Glykon derives from an ancient second century snake god cult, who some sources claim was purely fabricated before becoming an accepted deity. The god is said to be the protector of temples and tombs, in a similar role to Glykon's group.
The website itself is named after Ophicus, or Ophiuchus, the thirteenth zodiac star sign named for a snake charmer, which featured in the Priory of Sion's poem Le Serpent Rouge. To drive the point home, the decorative medallions around the text on the website are even fashioned from a glyph on the title page of the Serpent Rouge.
Although the site is still under construction, the Home Page features a "coronet and manteau" style coat of arms packed with a panoply of Masonic, Hebrew, Egyptian, Alchemical, Heraldic, and Chivalric symbolism, with a handful of Priory of Sion "Le Poulpe" octopuses thrown in for good measure. There’s even an obscure reference to Benedetto Varchi, the Florentine protégé of Cosimo de Medici, who had a snake motif carved on the front of his house.
So, if nothing else, you certainly have to admire their inventiveness… and we continue to watch in fascination.

Napoleon's crown hoisted over the Bourbon fleur-de-lis and "main de justice" - quite the faux-pas. Or is it intentional? This group isn't mixed up with the Seborgan Templars, is it? Is the Masonic doppeladler supposed to trigger a Habsburg reaction? I once got a free case of Romanoff caviar for writing to the company and pointing out that they had the Habsburg eagle, not the Romanoff eagle, on their packaging. You would think that people would consult heraldic artists to get their symbols right.
