Penguin United is a fairly new developer for accessories on the market. The people behind the scenes are dedicated gamers and they seem to be dedicated to serving the community with accessories that gamers want. Currently they seem to be a bit more geared towards the Wii when it comes to developing accessories, but of course they are branching out into different areas. For this review we will be looking at two of their products, where first we will start with their regular component video games, and then we will move up to their premium cables. I will note before we continue on with the products that their boxes recommend that you do not eat, burn, or use them as a rope, and I figure you would find some humour in that.
24K Gold Plated Nintendo Wii Component Cable
Early on in the Wii’s debut, the component cables were nowhere to be found. This was a major issue for those that had high definition televisions and wanted the most out of them. As such other companies have come on the market and presented their own brand of cables to not only copy Nintendo’s works, but also improve on those cables. Penguin United of course threw their hat into the ring and the results are pleasing.
Starting off at the price of $11.99 the cables provide for your component craving televisions quite nicely. The cables are six feet long, so it should be plenty to reach the back of your television. The cable itself is just as thick as a PC power cord, and it transfers the information to your set and sound quite nicely, dare I say even better than the Nintendo brand. On my 42” HD LCD television I noticed a slightly better image, providing a more vibrant picture.
The cables themselves are white in design to match your Wii system. The tips are also mostly white with the specific colours designated in two bands near the tips, but the cables inside are 24K gold plated. For a better idea, please refer to the following picture.
