'30 Days of Night', based on the IDW Publishing graphic novel by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, was #1 at the box office this weekend. The film took in an estimated $16 million in 2,855 theaters.This marks the sixth comic-based film to hold the #1 spot at the box office this year. Overall, however, theater owners are expressing disappointment. The performance is hardly stellar when broken down to a per-screen ratio and, for the fifth week in a row, fewer people are spending money at the movies than they did this time last year.
