30 DAYS Of Night Has Been Doubled?

The upcoming Vampire story 30 Days of Night may not be in theaters till this Halloween but that won't stop distributor Sony or producer Sam Raimi from planning ahead. An inside source/scooper over at Cinema Blend are passing along that both Sony and Raimi are already planning the sequel to the horror tale set in the Alaskan township during their blackout period.

Obviously Maniacs, treat this as rumor for now until official confirmation is given but I'd say its safe to say this happening and worth publishing. I'd put this bit of speculation right there besides the long lasting rumor that Shia LaBeouf will be playing Indiana Jone's son in the upcoming Indiana Jones 4.

For one thing, Sony and Raimi have a very close working relationship. They want Raimi back for their Spider-Man franchise so they will want to keep their relationship friendly. For another thing, the 30 Days of Night franchise is very bankable come Halloween time in much the same vein as Saw IV has been the past few years. Comic author Steve Niles (who has blogged recently here at our very own Mania home) has plenty of original mythology inside the 30 Days of Night storyline to work off for future stories.

It wouldn't be surprising in the least if they begin pre-production on the sequel before this one even hits theaters.

Josh Hartnett  stars in a Alaskan town during the month of no light. One small problem? Vampires are everywhere.

The movie hits theaters this Halloween.

Here's hoping this movie with Josh Hartnett is much better than the similar sounding "40 Days and 40 Nights."

This does look pretty good. I'm still not sold on the different, more animalistic take on vampires, but I'm willing to take it for a test drive.

I'm sold on the vamps, for sure. I'm sick of the gothic, pretty boy, suave vampires that have come before.
