I called the Spider Man villains and the actors playing them before I was born!!  I beat you all suckas!!!

krathwardroid 7/16/2009 5:36:58 PM

For one, I am all in favor of these four villains. I especially like the section on Mysterio and casting Bruce Campbell. It is true, his B-movie actor combined with modern day special effects is the perfect time to bring this character into the story. I also liked the part about Bruce's cameos in the last three movies possibly being Quentin Beck all along. It makes sense!

Yes! Definitely Ben Kingsley as the Vulture! He's the best choice for this, hands down!

And of course, we cannot exclude the Lizard. Dylan Baker has been with us since Spider-Man 2 and so deserves to be cast once again as Curt Connors.

I couldn't have picked a better man to play Kraven than Gerard Butler. This guy has the right attitude and, as Chad put it, "sufficiently badass enough to portray a man who wears leopardskin pants and a lion’s mane".

However, it is a tough choice on who the two villains should be in Spider-Man 4. I'd want to see Mysterio but, also as Chad suggested, it would be better featuring the Lizard and Kraven in the same movie so that Kraven could hunt him. The question is, which two come first? Mysterio and Vulture? Or Kraven and Lizard?

I also hope they take these casting choices into consideration. Provided these actors aren't preoccupied with other projects, they should be the ones to fill these roles.

i say all four villains are great picks as well as the actors.  i say do the lizard and kraven in spidey 4 and then do mysterio in spidey 5.  then in spidey666 have the vulture (adrian toombs) unite the sandman, mysterio, kraven, hobgoblin (after stealing green goblin's suit and glider) and a resurected doc ock (after toombs' company men save him before drowning) to form the sinister six!  ALL HAIL  HANSO!...SON!

I called it in my previous life, before Stan Lee invented Spiderman. I WIN!!

Guys, guys... chill out.  Listen.

Prior to the existance of what we know as "the universe", I existed.  When the pre-universe finally collapsed, the resulting explosion not only gave us the Big Bang and created the universe, it also imbued me with an incredible power.  The Power Cosmic, if you will.  It's awesome, but I hunger...

Long story short, I actually wrote this article prior to that whole universe-implosion thing.  Yes, I did meet wiseguy later on when he was a pharoah and his picks curiously mirrored my own.  Later on, I dropped my notes off on Stan Lee's desk.  Based on who I'd chosen for the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise, Stan created the character.  Its sort of like that watch in Somewhere in Time, which actually isn't a very good movie, but I like it 'cause it was filmed on Mackinaw Island and I'm from Michigan.  Did you know it's okay to spell it "Mackinaw" OR "Mackinac"?  It is.  Actually, there might not even be a "k" in there anywhere.

Well anyhoo, after all that went down, I planted a post-hypnotic suggestion in the brains of all children who were yet to be born (including Hanso) to ensure that my picks for the Spidey 4 villains would eventually show up on various message boards and in comic shop conversations.  Why?  I guess I just like to stir the pot.  I'm kind of a dick that way.  But I assure you, all of these picks are 100% my own and none of you came up with them first.

I also created Batman.

Wiseguy 7/17/2009 3:27:33 PM

LOL, Chad. So can we hold you responsible for Spiderman 3 and Batman and Robin or you only suggest casting

joeybaloney 7/18/2009 11:42:29 AM

LOL Awesome thread!

I like the Campbell/Mysterio angle with a little Man-Wolf & Morbius. I know 3 villians is a taboo nowadays but the thought of Spidey & FX master by way of Campbell coming to grips with a werewolf and a vampire seems ripe for action and some old fashioned Spidey humor.

Your picks are spot fucking on!!! I would be happy with any of those choices. You guys need to get together and write your own draft of Spidey 4.

One of the best articles on here ever. Great job.

Great casting choices... but somehow I doubt Ben Kingsley would be caught dead in a role like "The Vulture..."
