Hanso,  Thanks for that QT quote.  Ive never seen it.  But ill be damned if that doesnt make me want to watch the movie now,  and laugh.

Especially the end line.

What do you do for a living hanso?  Your google-fu is pretty good man,  and your really well read.  Which is uncommon now a days.

I have to say i think ive figured out my apprehension about the movie.  None of my family cares about it.  I havent had one friend say a word about it.  When I say 'hay you wanna go see avatar tomorrow?' they all say 'Whos that?'

Im going to however,  see it opening day, and look forward to it,  thanks to Hanso's convincing article.

Now, a suggestion.  Keep this thread going,  make it so big that mania offers you another one.  Im excited for you, and to see what you can do next.

Hope it owns, DAD!

Didn't Harlan Ellison win the plagarism battle in court? Usually you don't win unless more than 60% of the movie is proven to be plagerized.

As for Avatar, I have tickets to see the matinee tomorrow morning. I figured I get it out of the way now, and since nothing good comes out until next week, it'll kill some time until then.

WOW, how does Cameron and the Mania staff taste there Hanso? Yes he has made some good flicks I have enjoyed, but overall the guy is just taking other peoples' work and building on it. I know a lot of people do that and have done that for ages but really I just always see Cameron as a guy who takes ideas and just throws a bunch of money and effects at them and thinks it's film.

I kid with Hanso, don't get offended everyone has there opinions and such, you have yours… I have mine… and at the end of the day James Cameron still is just taking credit for other peoples' work.

Tkay I hated Transformers but I'm stoked for Avatar to the point I almost can't wait. It will be like Christmas for your eyes. If you think a lot of people that liked transformers also liked Avatar think again. You should go and read Peter Travers review of Avatar over at rollingstone.com. He gave the movie a great review and he took a couple of jabs at Michael Bay and Transformers. You should check it out funny shite.

Let's keep this thread going. Preach it Hanso!

Hanso- You had me at "SON!"

hanso 12/17/2009 12:15:04 PM

@TheStormrider - If you watch Top Gun again thinking about Taratino's quotes I guarantee you'll laugh your ass off.  Also when you say you don't have a friend that has said a word about it, just think of us here at Mania baby!

@Daforce - I believe they ended up settling out of court and throwing Ellison's name somewhere in the credits.

@myklspader - No need to put a disclaimer on your opinion.  I like to fool around here so I usually don't take anything seriously.  Besides, if everyone had the same opinions on all films what the hell would we talk about in here?

@Shac - I hated Transformers 2 as well and I'm looking forward to seeing Cameron showing people you can have characters you care about as well as bad ass CGI action.

@Violator - Awesome that I did son!

It's a great article and I'm extremely excited about Avatar but I have to say it again.  It being 3D sucks!

Not all of us can see 3D damn it.

So as much as I'd like to see this in IMAX I can't.  Yeah I know I'm just grousing at what will be a great movie but I do feel jipped when I at least want to be able to catch it in IMAX.

God damn f#%@ing 3D.

FELLAS -- All I can say is AVATAR OWNS ALL SON!!!!

I have never been so totally immersed in a movie. I saw a 12:30pm packed showing at the IMAX in London. Yes, the story is very Dances With Wolves, but you know what. Who cares? From the first scene until the last, you feel like you are on Pandora yourself. The F/X are mindblowing!! There is no need to suspend your disbelief because , everything looks so freaking real. The interaction between Motion capture/ human/ CGI is absolutely flawless.  I'm not going to go into fulld etail but you will leave the theater damn happy.

They showed the trailer for Alice in Wonderland in 3D. If I didn't want to see it before I definitely want to see it now. The Cheshire Cat jumped right on my freaking lap. Scared the shit out of me, but was awesome. The Prince of Persia in 3D was balls out cool too.

AVATAR OWNS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hanso, you magnificent bastard, I read your article. I know I'm not saying anything new, but I'm not all that anxious for this movie to come out. 3 D doesn't do that much for me, and the trailers are not revving me up to spend 12 bucks.

Your artcile on the other hand is easliy worth that much, but I just got the milk for free, so the cow will have to deal with issues of violation.

Good show, ol' bean.

First Derdowski, now Hanso.   They'll let anyone write for Mania.com now.

Good work digging up some obscure points that have zero bearing on the quality of this movie.  Enjoy the hell out of it when people use that line of logic in writing.  "He's plagarizing again so it must be quality!"

Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
