Like anime fandom, costumes and dressing up as the characters is a big part of the anime and manga world. Unlike a lot of Hollywood productions however, anime costume designers often try to come up with designs that will challenge the fans to create in the real world. They do some complex pieces as well as some very revealing pieces. Fans both in Japan and abroad have made cosplay a huge part of anime fandom, with masquerades at the conventions, “anime chess games” with people playing the pieces and countless other costume related panels, discussions and sessions. Here’s a sampling of some costumes that have gone from fiction to reality!

How could you show a comparison between the manga and the cosplay and not show the character being cosplayed? That's Sechs in the manga picture on #1, and the lady is cosplaying Gally!
