Does Mania even do any fact checking or do they just love posting false info? This site is going down hill fast with pathetic writers like this guy.

Wait a minute, are you telling me that Uncle Ben was pervert. Man I'm glad they left that out of Spidey's continuity.

That last one is pretty funny. Hopefully Spidey wasn't helping perform abortions on underage prostitues without notifying the authorities like Planned Parenthood

What did they get wrong? The only ones of these books that I read when they came out was Heroes For Hope, as I bought anything with an Arthur Adams drawing of Wolverine on the cover at that time, and it was pretty much as described.

5 great Prostate-Specific Antigen Comics?

Comics that tackle problems (ala PSA's) are usually, unintended and pretty pathetic jokes.  The Spider-Man & Power Man anti-smoking (or was it drugs) comic was pretty lame.  After reading my friends and I thought Power Man was just some Homo-erotic, effeminate black guy looking for his next pooper to pop.  Back in elementry/middle school, all things gay or hinted at, or suspected to be were definetly not cool and likely to get you beat up. Times and attitudes have changed thankfully; now I can see Luke Cage's opened canary yellow shirt and chains is meant to strike fear into the hearts of criminals and of teenage smokers.  And it's totally cool if he's gay.

But, hey how about Neil Gaiman's Death, talking about Safe Sex?  That one was great.

Uncle Ben's Secret Touch....Not so cool.

The part he got wrong was saying its a fact that the US is to blame for all of those landmines. The ones in Columbia are caused by guerilla extremists and Drug cartels trying to protect there Coco plantations. It seems like some people use the US for all of the worlds problems.

WarCry 2/28/2011 7:07:30 AM

That blurb mentions "Latin America", not Columbia. And it says "probably the ones responsible", not a definitive statement.

This is NOT a political commentary site. They don't have to do the kind of due diligence that a real news organisation would do. Hell, half the NEWS channels don't do the due diligence they should, they're quite content to run biased speculations....

therockdltj 2/28/2011 7:58:05 AM

then why single out one country to "probably" blame?

Wiseguy 2/28/2011 8:25:31 AM

lol hertensteine and given the aging comic book reading population you just came up with a great idea for the next psa comic book, prostate exams

lusiphur 2/28/2011 8:57:43 AM

Because he's "probably" right.  If they didn't plant them themselves, they "probably" sold them to the guys who did.  I may be wrong, but I suspect the "Made in the U.S.A." stamp is probably on most of the landmines in Latin America.

Besides, this was supposed to be a humorous article poking fun at how bad PSA comics have been in the past.  If you're getting this upset over a throwaway line in a humor article, perhaps you should talk to someone about this instead of anonymously slamming column writers on a genre entertainment site.
