How bout Navis vs aliens vs predators. preds are tired of hunting human/alien hybrids so the preds dump some facehugger pods near a tribe and BOOM, navi /alien hybrid which equals all hell breaking loose. Yeah.....eat your heart out orci & kutzman.

How about Caddyshack 3: Pandora's Box

redhairs99 1/21/2010 4:08:52 AM

Ninja, beat me to it.  You could have the Weyland-Yutiani Corporation go after the "unobtainium" by placing some alien egg sacs they procured on Pandora and then the Na'vi must fend off the newly hatched facehuggers which then lead to giant-freakin' Na'vi versions of the Alien creatures!

And while Cameron's ripping off other movie ideas, why not expand on your number 3 choice, Hanso?  Jake and Neytiri have a child, thus ensuring Jake's legacy.  This doesn't sit well with the Na'vi guy who should have taken over the tribe after the elders' death in the first picture.  He kills Jake in the first act leaving a young, too young too rule, heir to the throne.  The young heir is scared away from the tribe by the "accident" only to run away and grown up alone in the jungle's of Pandora where he befriends a couple of comedic species of animals and learn's many life lessons from the two including how not to worry about things that are out of your control.

When the heir gone, the Jake's killer assumes control of the tribe until years later when the Jake's true heir returns and his reading to face his father's killer and retake his place as tribe leader.

I call it Avatar 2: The Na'vi King!

I don't think Cameron will have any problems putting out a sequel or planning a plot for a sequel… the first one does not have much of one (or any really)  so there shouldn't be any issue with that.

They should just call it … Avatar: The Fisting of your Wallet Some More (or the Search for More Money… as Mel Brooks put it once).

I can honestly say I could care less about a sequel cause I really did not like this one. Visually it was great but I believe in story and characters not taking backseat, they did in this… and I have no interest in another cause of that.

At first I was sort of pissed when I read the title, but then as I saw that it was funny, this is pretty cool.  Plus I see it's Hanso who is the man.

If we're going to be completely original,  How about The Wrath of RDA, or The RDA Strikes Back.  Or let's just rip off Apocalypto and make it a simple film.  Jake has the adventure while his wife is stuck down in a pit with their baby.

Hey Hanso - good to see you writing again!  Perhaps this is a comment better left somewhere else, but I wanted to drop you a line...

So before Avatar was released, I was skeptical.  I didn't think it looked good at all.  But your list of reasons why it would own actually convinced me to see it, specifically the part about "this is the guy who gave us Terminator 1 and 2, the Abyss, Aliens, etc..."  And you know what?  It owned.  You were right.

Cliche' and predictable?  Sure.  I'll be the first to say that the criticisms are valid.  Was it Dances With Wolves in Space?  Yeah, that's fair - but Dances With Wolves was a good movie (back in the day, before it became popular to bash Kevin Costner) ... But I've often found that it's not simply the story you tell but how you tell it.  Avatar may have been a story that we've seen a few times before, but it's a story worth telling, it had a lot of heart and damn if it wasn't beautiful to look at!  And the day that I become so cynical and hateful that I can't enjoy a good sci-fi action romp that denounces the evils of corporate greed and warmongering is the day you need to put a bullet in my head.  Sometimes the same stories have to be told and retold again and again because we haven't gotten the message yet.  Timeless tales are like that... and isn't our beloved Star Wars just a rehash of a million other stories that have come before?

Yeah, it rehashed a lot of similar themes from other Cameron movies.  Lots of directors do that.  But would I take my kids to see it?  Hell yeah!  Would I recommend it to others?  Absolutely.  Avatar was a lot of fun... which really doesn't have much to do with your proposed sequel ideas - just wanted to thank you for convincing me to go see it!

Keep the sequel, the first one was too long, and far too boring...I am firmly in the dislike Avatar camp...I left the movie thinking that I just wasted my money.  Sherlock Holmes should've been my choice that night, not Avatar.

I'm sure they can just still the plot of Pocahontas 2 or Fern Gully 2, and stretch it into 3 long hours...
