Killer tomato, did you have that problem with all movies that have a white man as a antagonist?

Humans, all colors, DO take from others, destroy environments and cultures of others...

Why do you assume this movie has an agenda. I submit it's agenda was to tell a cool story and make a bunch of $$$...thats all. A lot of people are reading WAY to much into the hidden meanings and liberal agenda of this movie. It's a pretty straigtforward tale, one that has been seen throughout history, and yes, many times (especially in the last 500 years) The white man has been responsible...

BUT all ethnicities do this, the japanese and the chineese have had these issues with each other before. Tribes in Africa have done this, hell native american tribes did this to each other...so it's not Just white people. don't believe everything the conservative owned mainstream media says, they're just tryin to rile you up.

Damn it DarthDuck where were you when I was writing this!? I hadn’t even thought about their hair and what would happen if they lose it, now I’m curious. I ain’t going to lie to you DarthDuck, I’m gonna steal your idea and use it for an Avatar 3 article :)

Chad – I’m curious why you hate EW? I enjoy it and I like getting it every Friday on my mailbox. Did you get your subscription through Amazon? Instead of resubscribing through EW, I saw it for $10 on Amazon and just ordered from there. Now I’m upset you got it $2 cheaper.

Killer – “Avatar was so hyped it just crashed under that hype” I disagree sir. I wouldn’t call a film that is the #2 money maker, with good reviews and positive word of mouth as something that didn’t meet the hype. Unless you thought Avatar was going to make $3 billion worldwide, physically transport you to the world of Pandora and place you in Avatar body so you could start yelling “I see you” to everything in sight. If that’s what you meant then I agree that it didn’t live up to the hype.
I don’t pretend Avatar is the most original thing in the world in terms of story but Cameron didn’t set out to do that. Avatar is an original property though and a damn good one at that. I’ll take that over the numerous remakes that keep getting greenlit.

Ultrazilla – No I don’t. I didn’t even come up with the idea for this article. The Man Behind The Curtain came up with it and asked me if I was interested in attempting to write about it. I hadn’t thought about the possibility of an Avatar sequel till that point.

Everyone else thanks for the kind words. Hopefully I get asked to do a few more and they entertain you as well. I do want to thank Jarrod because he’s the first person to read my stuff when the draft is terrible and doesn’t even make sense. He then gives me good pointers which I use to shape what I’m writing. So thank you Jarrod and I would say I’m going to stop harassing you but that would be just a lie. I also want to thank TheMovieLord for doing a kickass job on the pictures again.

Hanso, You know you need to write a LOST article son...

hanso 1/21/2010 10:56:10 AM

Nah man I enjoy Joe's writing on Lost too much to even think of doing an article on LOST.  Besides anything I could come up with would just pale in comparison to what Joe does when he tackles LOST.  That cat has the show on lockdown!  I know you recently watched the entire series so far, so you haven't been part of the LOST threads but trust me when I tell ya that Joe's stuff is awesome.

Happy to help, my friend.  Unfortunately unless we track down the man himself we may never know...

I make fun of my wife's obsession with EW...and then read it while she's at work.  I stay away from the gossip and reality TV sh*t but you can't beat their coverage.  And their preview issues are awesome.

Well - I assume the guy that fails to capture the Ikran becomes dead.  Didn't they say that's what happens if you fail to catch a regular flying lizard thing?  So, yeah, I assume that's what happens.

hanso 1/21/2010 11:30:13 AM

They did? I missed it then.  I must've been in "my mind is getting blown by all the awesome special effects on screen like that flying dragon that I wish I had so I could ride to work in!" mode as that scene was taking place.

Saying that I avoid EW like the plague was probably a bit harsh, but I kind of feel like... okay this is a bit harsh too but I put them in the same category as Wizard Magazine or MTV.  I do kind of look forward to it's arrival every week because obviously I love the industry; but I don't really think it deserves a great deal of respect.  In recent years they've taken on a much more humorous tone with fake polls and little jokes and gags.

So now you're thinking "Yeah, but isn't that what you do every week in Comicscape?"

Sure.  But I've always done that.  EW didn't used to be that way.  I want news, dammit!  News!  Indepth news!  I always liked that EW has been a laid back, mainstream magazine and it wasn't all high-falutin' and snobby, but they seem to be veering toward becoming the OK! or US Weekly of entertainment mags these days.  So they've fallen out of favor with me.  And their movie reviews suck.

My wife got me the subscription so I'm not sure how the deal worked.  It may have even been $10 for all I know.  I can't really remember.  I'll ask her when she gets home from work and let you know, brotha!
