I didn't comment on rob faux's review because even though its a hate filled and hackneyed diatribe designed only to express contempt for a director unworthy of said contempt, at least it came with the caviat of being an opinion.

This piece, however, is just capricious.

Rob Zombie is a fanboy's film maker with bucket loads of visceral style and a love beyond celebrity of what he does. His films are more visually arresting and engaging than any other horror director around right now. Carpenter is my all time faves but Rob's flicks genuinely LOOK better.

Its a shame that mania doesn't embrace him. Without Rob in the landscape we're gonna end up with more dryly competant but bland crap from the likes of guys like ratner and sommers.

And, on a personal note, I have long hair and a beard (I look a little like Alan Moore 30 years ago) and I kinda find that bit offensive. What the fuck mania?

Zombie sucks beyond believe. He doesn't have eyes for visuals or anything of the sort. The guy is a hack living off remakes which I believed a while back he said he wouldn't do any more. Yet he still went ahead with Halloween 2 and now the Blob?

Zombie's mindset is one of horror films that belong in the 70's and even back then they would be considered terrible. His visuals consist of what we associate with 70's heavy-metal-devil worshipping music. ALL HIS FILMS have that look and feel.

I saw his H2, I went in with low expectations. I'm thinking usually when I feel like this the film will surprise me a bit but no, the only surprise I got was that the film is actually worse than Halloween.

Zombie should have a restraining order keeping him at least 500 feet from a director's chair or a camera. This guy sucks.
 

I agree with all the rerasons given in the piece. The guy has absolutely no talent IMHO when it comes to directing. Go see the abortion that is H2 for reference. This movie is a straight to dvd abomination that if it wasn't for the title Halloween or Zombie's fame as a musician wouldn't get a second look. TOTAL GARBAGE

Sommers and Bay are geniuses compared to this hack. At least their films are FUN. Zombie's shit is so bad it passed the point of being good cause it's bad, it's just bad, atrocious film making. This guy needs to be outlawed, he shouldn't even be allowed to watch tv cause he may get yet another idea, wait a minute the guy hasn't had an idea yet, he's just stealing, raping and shitting on others' works

i'm a guy who enjoyed the original significantly more than zombie's...but i can also admit that there is a bias there because it's what i grew up with...i watched it at least twice a year since i was a kid. of course it sticks really strongly. while i may like carpenter's interpretation more...i have to give credit to zombie. he did do a good job, not what i would have done, but a good job. kind of like Gilliam talking about Snyder's version of Watchmen.

at considering halloween came out in the midst of remakes like the hill have eyes that was just flat out horrible...i do give zombie a lot of credit. the biggest complaint i had is that i saw him in concert a little after it was announced he was directing the new one and just danced around the stage to the theme for literally 15 minutes, people started throwing beer. and to back him up, i haven't seen the new friday the 13th, don't have lot of interest cause it just looks like a slasher. zombie looks like he actually made something and went for it which, like the movie or not, you got to respect.

Wow a lot of people really "hate" Rob Zombie. Why!?!?! If you don't like his movies then just simply DON'T WATCH THEM!!! Its that easy. The ones that bitch about him are the ones who still go out and see his movies.

I am big Rob Zombie fan so any movie he makes I'll be there opening night.

Oh and what I don't understand is why people don't like that Sherri Moon is in his movies. He's only made 4 movies and they're sequels. Of course Sheri is going to come out in them because they're sequels!!!

I actually did something that I normally rail against so I guess I'm a hypocrate for that but I walked in to H2 without paying. That's the only way I'll watch a Zombie film. No effing way I'd pay for any of his shit since Devil's Rejects. Besides, if you don't watch them how can you make a valid opinion but I just make sure the hack doesn't benefit in any way from me

I payed for District 9 like I said I would last week. At least that's a good film, deserving of all the monies it gets

I'm with Hanso when it comes to Summers.  He's terrible.  How could you mess up with talented cast every time? And who does he hire as a VFX Compositor for the CG? It always looks terrible.

Now I have to get this out of my chest: Is it me or Mania is turning into a Cracked clone with all those lists that make no sense at all?
