If they kept the costumes it would look sooooo GAY! I couldn't take watchman seriously with the costumes as it was,  only chicks look good in spandex!

If (and God be with us they don't) there is no way they could recast Wolverine, anyways, I doubt there is anyone who can do what Heath did with the Joker with Wolverine, but you never know. So they would probably have to make a movie without that character. Which would piss off the fans but it would be cool to see if an X-men movie could stand up without Wolverine in it.

But I agree with everyone, NO MORE REBOOTS!!!

Reboot sounds good.  I like Jackman as Wolverine, though after 4 movies I'm wondering if it's time to hand the claws to somebody else.  Biggest issue I had with the other three, especially the third, was as they said lack of team participation.  Wolverine has been a major player in the X-Men for a long time but he isn't the lead.  Put some focus on the others, and remember: Cyclops is the chief X-Man.

Unlike a Spiderman reboot I agree that a X-Men reboot must be done by only Marvel!  Get Fox out of the picture and redo the X-Men movies 100%.  F*ck X-Men 4.  Screw Wolverine 2.  Hell, get a new guy to do Wolvie!  Make him short, mean, hairy, and really pissed off.

I also agree with Wiseguy.  Let's start with the origianl team members and ONLY the original team members.  Even have Beast with NO HAIR.  Then they can show him getting his blue fur and stuff.

As a hardcore old school X-Men fan I demand a reboot!  They epiclly f*cked up our X-Men!

Oh, and no killing damn X-Men like Cyclops!  That was SUPER LAME!!!

finshadytoo, who in the Watchmen wore spandex in the movie, and why were you unable to take their costumes seriously?  They had the good sense to change the only bright yellow and purple costume to a more toned down version, and nobody was wearing spandex...well,  I don't know, is Rorschac's mask made of spandex?

Anyway, I think this is a good list also.  I thought the first two movies were pretty good, and even didn't mind the third one as much as the rest of you do (I STILL say you all hated X3 and love Superman Returns because you're used to love Bryan Singer and hating Brett Ratner), but the series could use a fresh start under a fresh company, with character profiles in place.  I hadn't really thought about that point before.

I am tired of reboots too. But whats new? I say this in every new reboot article there is.

X-Men, X-2 are good movies. They aren't perfect. But they aren't good.

The Last Stand was ridicuolous. I've seen worse, but wouldn't mind at least that movie be stricken from the series and another done.

But here is my argument with movies adhering closely to the comics: Why not just read the comic if you want to see the same thing? And I think there are far too many comics to say "Stick with continuity". I'm not saying go and make Wolverine a woman or Storm a transexual. But I have no problem with a a franchise that has a TON of stuff to work from taking something from here and something from there to give me an idea on what these characters are about.

I do agree that the movies should be about the X-Men and not strictly Wolverine. But otherwise, just make better entries into the series and not reboot. Its becoming entitrely tiresome

TKay42one 11/11/2009 11:55:54 AM

If they do another entry into the series, a lot of people would gripe and complain...if they reboot the series, a lot of people would gripe and complain...if they cast a 6'2 actor to play a 5'0 character, people would gripe and complain...oh wait, that one happened already...just pointing out that no matter WHAT a movie company does, they're not going to please everybody.  We can each talk about what we personally would be cool, but there is no clear SHOULD on what a movie company SHOULD do.  They just have to play the numbers and make movies for what they think will be the broadest audience and hope more people cheer than gripe and complain.

The ONLY reason that the X-Men movies are good is that they are the only ones we have.  The first Batman movies were good IMO, but not great.  The new ones by Nolan are way better in just about every way possible.

I figure that for a really great X-Men reboot to work they will have to get the rights of X-Men away from Fox and then wait about 4-5 years.  It is in the best interest of Disney and Marvel to do so.  They will not have to share the profits with Fox!

X-Men: First Class is a great idea.  Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Jean Grey/Marvel Girl, and Beast.  That is all we need for the first movie.  No one else.  The second movie should only have them too.  Then the third movie can introduce the new X-Men like the comics did when the old team got screwed.

I would even like them to recast Professor X.  I always got the feeling he was more of a hard ass then the Prof X in the current X-Men movies.

As for villians I have no idea, but Magneto would be OK with me for the first movie, just don't kill him off.  And for the love of all things X-Men, make him awesome looking!  Like in the comics!  He is tall and muscular.  Not some little old guy.  No offense to Ian McKellen as he is a great actor but he just never did it as Magneto for me AT ALL.  he is just not imposing in anyway shape or form.

I know I'm dreaming, but I would love to see an XMen reboot with the Mutant Massacre or Days of Future Past storylines.
