Saw Cloverfield on DVD and it didn't hit me as hard as you (then again Blair Witch was kind of the same in camera and over hyped) but the film I hate the most vs trailer was Wild Wild West. Trailer made it look interesting and I went to see it.

I would have been better off beating my head against a wall until I lost conciousness. That movie is one of the worst pieces of crap I have ever seen. (ps, nice move Smith, deciding on that garbage versus being Neo in The Matrix-make one horrific film and a much better one suffers for the replacement).

Not a bad list, though I liked Cloverfield. Anyone else feeling like: what is the point of dropping the F-bomb in this article?

I liked a couple of these, but that doesn't mean they were good.  Cloverfield left me flat.

myklspader - it was an attempt at humor by adding an additional Marilyn Manson quote.  I actually missed it the first time I read the article and had to search for it.  I guess I'm desensitized to "vulgar" language.

I would have replaced Underworld with Alien 3.

Cloverfield was awesome... People who get motion sick are bitches...

Mania needs to get back to delivering the news and stop sharing the geek bashing and telling you what to like attitude it's internet troll turned writing staff has adopted.

Actually I am more offended by the term 'F-Bomb' than the word itself...

Stop flipping using it, NOW!

BunyonSnipe 2/17/2011 2:25:19 AM

Lamguage is language, why do people feel it nessessary to censor themselves?

mikemc2 2/17/2011 3:52:23 AM

Good list, but I don't believe Underworld deserves to be on it.  I liked the movie & had no problems with it.  But lists like this are very subjective anyway so there is bound to be movies listed that people disagree with. So I agree with 4 out of the 5 :D

Not sure where you viewed a ton of humor in Punisher War Zone...that movie was ultraviolent and pretty gory...i think thats where its similarities with Robocop are.

Cloverfield was a great movie

MADMANIC...You hit it right on the head! Why do i care about some D-bags opinion that all it does is start flamming! I get caught up in it and it makes me angry. Just report on the news and stop giving half-assed opinions and making yourselves seem like you know what ur talking about, cause you dont. Opinions are like assholes we all have them and they usually STINK!

Kurt, I SO disagree with you on "Cloverfield". The only thing I didn't like about the film was the title...I mean what does that mean? What did that word have to do with that story? Nada! I had years of shaky cam TV to prepare me for that, so I didn't get sick. The story of a monster tearing up the city was told from the POV of folks who had NO IDEA wtf was going on. I thought it was brilliantly made and, in general, a terrific new take on the giant monster movie. I understand dvd copies gave some clues as to what the creature was and where it came from, but to this day the total mystery of its origins is what I LOVE about the film.

This was a great article, Kurt. I completely agree with 9 of 10 of your choices. Nice work! Look forward to your next piece.
