Ah, the youth movement takes over again in these articles.

Titled "Worst Japanese Monster Movies", we get a list of monsters, not movies.

And most from the Godzilla franchise. I guess there are no other Japanese monster franchises.

If the columnist isn't old enough to remember Gamera, Ultraman, Giant Robot, Space Giants, Infra-man, even Big Man Japan, then I guess he can't remember any of the monsters they fought either.

And Gigan is one of the BEST monster designs period.

I like these lists, even when I don't agree with them. They're an entertaining change from the same ol' news and rumors other sites report. Nice distraction, to say the least.

But Gigan is my favorite monster of all time.

Ok guys, I beg forgiveness for including Gigan, but i won't budge on Mothra. And I'm not a youngster, far from it. And the other, it's called a formatting error. No one is perfect. For the record, King Ghidorah is my personal favorite. And yes, I tend to fixate on the Godzilla-based flicks. If I ever tackle this subject again, I will do the best, NON Godzilla franchise movie monsters ever!

King Ghidorah is my favorite too.  Was he cool or what?

And the best giant monster flick is Destroy All Monsters.  With Monster Zero coming in a close second.

Switch number 2 to number 1 and your list works. The only good thing about Mothra is the two hot miniature women that came with it.

Who the hell made this list? Mothra (Mothra vs. Godzilla 1964 was AWESOME!!!) and Gigan are great Kaiju designs and should not be on this list. The best monster design ever is Biollante.

i'll give you 1-3 but come on mothra was kool especially the the twins with mothra and gigan was a good fight...

Ah my jr high years. good times, good times!

Gotta disagree with Mothra. I wasn't a big Mothra fan growing up, and I was TOTALLY furious when the caterpillar Mothras were able to web up Godzilla at the end of the 1964 Godzilla vs The Thing, but...  Mothra suffers for being the long suffering, overmatched good guy to Godzilla's (mostly) much stronger, meaner, more dangerous semi-bad guy. Still, he...she?...has had a lot of cool moments over the years. And I think the '64 G vs Thing is one of, if not the best, of the G series (after the original).

The giant Frankenstein? Yeah, can't argue there. Terrible (non-scary too) teeth, looked deformed (nonscary) more than Frankensteinish. But on the other hand, his ... spawn? Semi-clones? Offspring? The "Gargantuas" ? Pretty cool.

Smog Monster? Yeah, he should have been there. Just no mobility at all, couldn't really rumble. And how about "Orga" (think that was it)... the design looked cool but he was too immobile to fight as well... Godzilla had to practically charge straight into his "jaws".

As a huge fan of ANYTHING kaiju related (hello, my online name!?!) it's hard for me to read a list like this because it's like saying which of my children I love and which I do not!  I have to agree with Frankenstein's monster and Minya though.  Frankenstein vs Baragon is a blast of a movie, (and introduces us to Baragon for the first time!), but he really IS a corn ball kaiju.  Minya?  Many find him annoying, but I still do have a place for him in my heart.  The others on the list?  Each are wonderful!  Gigan is one of the most badarse designs EVER...King Seasar (or however you spell it) may look a little silly, but he was a cool addition to Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla and turned out to be a good friend to have for the Big G.   Now Mothra...it seems Mothra isn't very favorable with many guys...but I think it's more of a macho thing.  Mothra is often referred to as female, she's a huge moth(!?!), and she is in cahoots with six inch fairy women...so I can see how she's just not macho enough for most.  However, she's proven to be a very strong foe as well as ally for Godzilla AND mankind in the Toho universe so I think she's pretty dang cool (not to mention pretty, lol!).

There should DEFINITELY be other monsters in this list for several of them...I'd say take another look at GABERA for one.  Not Gamera...GABERA from Godzilla's Revenge!  How can anyone possibly overlook a giant, blue/green, upright walking cat with orange hair, a horn, electricity powers, AND walks around growling "wawawawawawawawa"?!?  Or how about Gezora, the giant mutated cuttlefish in Yog, Monster From Space (Space Amoeba)?

I'm done geeking out now!
