Plot Summary: The science fiction thriller leaps into a new realm with JUMPER, which begins the epic adventures of a man who discovers that he possesses the exhilarating ability to instantly teleport anywhere in the world he can imagine. From New York to Tokyo, from the ruins of Rome to the heart of the Saharan Desert, anywhere is possible for David Rice (HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN), until he begins to see that his freedom is not total, that he's not alone . . . but part of an ongoing, global war that threatens the very survival of his rare and extraordinary kind.

David Rice has grown up with a mysterious power of which many have dreamed. He is completely and utterly mobile, able to zap through wormholes in the space-time fabric to any city, any building, any place at all that his mind desires. In the blink of an eye, he can "jump" from one side of the earth to the other and back again - he can tour twenty different sunsets in one night, he can have breakfast on the Egyptian Sphinx, spend the day surfing in Australia, then pop over to Paris for dinner and enjoy dessert in Japan. He can pass through walls and locked bank safes and enter the most forbidden chambers. So far, he has used his powers to run away from his past, to take advantage of unlimited wealth, to remain fiercely independent. He's never known limits or boundaries or consequences. Or true connection. Until now.

But when David discovers another young man like himself, a fiery, globetrotting rebel named Griffin (JAMIE BELL), the truth of his existence begins to dawn. He is not just a lone freak of nature, but part of a long line of genetic anomalies known as Jumpers, none of whom are safe. Now, David has now been identified by the secret organization sworn to kill him and all Jumpers. And he is about to be relentlessly pursued in a chase that will literally bound around the planet - as he becomes a key player in an unseen battle that has been raging, invisible to most of humanity, through the ages.

Director Doug Liman, who has developed a reputation for forging visceral, high-style action in such critical and box office hits as The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, brings the mythic fantasy of JUMPER to life with a mix of state-of-the art special effects, international intrigue and a savvy twist on a modern-day superhero in the making.

September 14, 2006 - According to Sci Fi Wire, the upcoming 20th Century Fox film JUMPER will be a trilogy and not a stand alone film.

"This is such a big story to tell, we're now thinking about it as a trilogy of movies," said producer Lucas Foster. "You can't tell all of this in one film."

August 29, 2006 - Max Thieriot will play a younger version of Hayden Christensen's character, the title role of Doug Liman's sci-fi adventure Jumper, for 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises. Thieriot's character is a young man from an abusive home who develops the ability to teleport to different times and locations. Thieriot most recently appeared in Adam Shankman's Catch That Kid for 20th Century Fox and The Pacifier for Walt Disney Pictures. [Hollywood Reporter]

August 11, 2006 - Hayden Christensen is starring in Jumper, Regency Enterprises' big-budget thriller being directed by Doug Liman. Meanwhile, Regency has partnered with 20th Century Fox to finance the production, which sources say is budgeted in the $100 million range. Christensen's casting jump-starts the production, which was to have begun shooting earlier this summer but had been running idle. Tom Sturridge was to have played the lead role of David, which now will be played by Christensen, since a decision was made to go with a more prominent actor. Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Bell and Teresa Palmer remain with the production. [Hollywood Reporter]

July 10, 2006 - Samuel L. Jackson is teleporting into a starring role for Regency Enterprises' Jumper. Doug Liman is directing the sci-fi thriller, making it his first feature helming gig since Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Based on the Steven Gould novel, Jumper follows a kid from a broken home who discovers that he has the ability to teleport. [Hollywood Reporter]

April 4, 2006 - Jamie Bell, Tom Sturridge and Teresa Palmer are teleporting into starring roles for Regency Enterprises' Jumper, Doug Liman's first feature helming gig since Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Based on the Steven Gould novel, Jumper follows a kid from a broken home who discovers that he has the ability to teleport. In his quest for the man he believes is responsible for the death of his mother, the kid draws the attention of both the NSA and another kid who has the same abilities. Sturridge will play the kid from the broken home, while Bell is the young man he meets, a jumper who shows him the ropes. Palmer will play the love interest. [Hollywood Reporter]

November 11, 2005 - New Regency has set Doug Liman to direct JUMPER, which is an adaptation of the Steven Gold's novel. The company is planning a trilogy of films. Jim Uhls will rewrite a script by David Goyer.

The story centers on a teenager who discovers he can teleport from one place to another. The young man learns he can "jump" when he escapes his abusive father.
