Arnold Schwarzenegger to join "Battle Angel Alita"?

According to Virgin.net, Arnold Schwarzenegger may be returning to the movies, yet.

James Cameron is said to be "waiting" for Arnold before he begins work on the movie Battle Angel Alita because he wants Schwarzenegger to play 'Ido' in the film.

He might not be a part of KING CONAN anymore (which they're recasting) and TERMINATOR 4, but at least he's still likely to do BATTLE ANGEL.

That s a scoop ! But I still doubt on it, Come on he just return to sacremento as gouvernor, doesn t give him too much time. beside according to the rumor he can t take off his shirt anymore, his not in shape , I mean like Stallone, so can only be a cast as veteran with costume...that s why he refuse king conan or terminator 4, because everybody expect to see what he was famous for, his body....so I m still pretty much exciting, and arnold name on the movie will boost the box office for sure

Agreed. Arnold isn't in the shape for the role that he would need to be. And he's smart to turn the roles down... as frustrating as it is. I love seeing him on film and have enjoyed his performances thoroughly.

That being said, I would LIKE to see him give permission to use his likeness in T4. That way the 3D artists can generate the assembly line and maybe some shots of him in the background. It's a thought/dream/hope.

King Conan, on the other hand... hmmm....

This Battle Angel thing is Cameron's next film? I'm sure I'm out of the loop, but I don't even know what this is. I thought he was working on a project called Avatar?

I don't know. Arnold looked built in Terminator 3, and that was only a few years ago - add the fact that he was around 50, and I'm absolutely ashamed. I doubt that he can't take his shirt off anymore. He might not look like "Commando" anymore, but there's no way he's a flabby man

I see Jeff Daniels or WIlliam Hurt or even John Hurt playing Ido over Arnie or Sly. The character was a doctor who put Alita together after finding her in a dump and I really don't think either Sly or Arnie are believable enough to pass off as doctors, especially bio - mechanoid engineers. And Ido isn't a built character, he is a tall lean character, but alas, artistic license I guess. I just don't want to see a rehash of Mr. Freeze except as a good guy this time around.

I doubt Arnold will return to the big screen in anything more than a cameo any time soon because of his political duties, regardless of what shape he's in. And as far as this new Cameron movie...he's been talking about this film for years. I really have doubts if it will ever really get made (like Indy 4).

Like him or not, Ahnold is an Icon of pop culture and cinema. He has done a pretty fair job as The Governator, not being overly conservative and somewhat flexible, something more politicians need to strive for. But I have to admit, I miss seeing him on the big screen. That said, I would rather see him in movies as a bad guy or in smaller roles in better movies. I think he is capable of doing more than delivering one liners and would like to see him go out on top. Come back Arnie, you weren't born in the U.S., so your political career is limited(stupid law), but there is still alot you can do in the movies.

Yeah. I'm sure *that's* what Cameron's been waiting for all this time...

he wont do any movies while he's the Governor of Cali. Think how that would make him look?? Phil Angelities and any Democrate Gov. hopeful would pounce on any opportunity to blame Arnold for doing a movie while he's still in office.
It would be a huge mistake on Arnolds part to attempt to juggle a film and still be in political office.
Also, James Cameron isnt stupid... why wait for a guy who cant do movies because he's the governor? What I think happened is that this quote from Cameron was said BEFORE Arnold won against Phil Angelidies... and its only come out now... its a day late and a dollar short. Never...NEVER gonna happen.
