A scooper has sent relatively poor quality photographs of what look to be Heath Ledger done up as the Joker.

I am completely shocked his hair is green....however int he other photo it is not green, so it could be photoshop IMO.

I still think he is a horrible choice for the Joker. Dennis Quaid would have been ten times better!

I just hope this is a great movie. I feel like Superhero movies are just a big letdown lately. Except for Ghost Rider of course. J/K!!!!

I am still much more interested in FF:ROTSS, that movie looks like it will kicka$$!

"Dennis Quaid would have been ten times better!"
That assumes his accent have gotten better since DRAGONHEART.

Can't really picture Joker with a Southern drawl or twang.

Superhero movies are a big letdown??? The spider man series, the xmen series, batman begins, hellboy, sin city, and etc. I'm sorry I don't understand your argument you complain about Heath Ledger, but you don't explain WHY he is a "horrible choice"? and WHY Dennis Quaid is a "ten times better!" choice? So I am going to take the moment to rebutt your comment, first off, I feel that Heath is a good choice bc he can act. He was good in "Brokeback Mountain" and although he hasn't had great successes he still has range and ability to become a better actor. What I like about Heath is that he tries a little of everything he doesn't restrict himself to comedies or dramas, he still is young and definitely has the ability to blossom from a good actor to a great actor. Now, Dennis Quaid, well the fact of the matter is that Dennis Quaid doesn't look like anything the Joker should be and the fact is he is too old to be the Joker. From what I have read the basic idea was to go a little younger on the Joker hence why names like Adrian Brody were thrown about before. Oh and the fact that you are more interested in FF4 2 (Tim Story Project) over The Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan Project) automatically discredits you.

Ooh boy! Grainy, zoomed in digital photos!

Too bad the fan boy inside me was killed at my gross disappointment at Silent Hill. Snore.

He is an excellent choice to play the Joker, and he will prove it to you, just as Michael Keaton and Tobey Maguire proved their worth.

Interesting set of pics.
Still don't really see him as the Joker, but I'll keep an open mind.

Oh boy..... theCollector is at it again.....
Anywho.... I these picks tell us little or nothing, and I look forward to the fresh spin on Mr. J... the thing I liked was that last pick with all the clown masks.... looks like Joker will have himself a merry band of maniacs as well.... all in all cool news...

Bmfstunner, I was going to rebutt TheCollectors always ingenius and forward thinking comments but you said everything I was going to say. I do think Tim Story is getting a bad rap though. I`m going to give him a chance to pull FF2 off. As far as directors go though Story couldn't hold Nolan's jockstrap, well if Nolan wore one.

Anyway, I like Dennis Quaid but he is way too old and isn`t really joker material. I don`t think he`s ever even played someone in his whole career that I could reference to him being qualified to play Joker.

Apart from X3, Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, and a lackluster FF, every other comic book movie has been damn good and far from a "letdown".

I like the crazy Joker masks. The only thing this shows us is that he`ll at least have green hair.

Ledger's going to do a fine job as Joker, because he's a talented young actor and Nolan's going to give him a good script and good direction. I'm looking forward to seeing the psychological war between Batman and his arch nemesis through Nolan's eyes.

Grainy photos? AAaaaaaRRGgGGggGgg, BastaaaaAAAaAAaaAAAaaAAaaAaaaaaaaarz.

a couple of observations.

1. this bloke allegedly playing me looks like he knows he's being photographed.

2. Hair greasy and green is consistent with a Killing Joke influence, body presence bulky and intimidating however is not, it indicates a Jack Nicholson influence.

Most interesting Joker portrayal part of these photos to me:

3. Heath standing with Arms behind back.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm(n)

if Heath is getting into character here, the arms behind back is interesting. It denotes confidence, arrogance and megalomania (try it yourself to see what I mean) You can imagine it's what Heath does to get into character, which ostensibly gives us a hint to what sort of Joker he's going for.

id est. Mentally and Physically imposing.

Like he likes to loom over people and dominate them.

(Hopefully we're going to see Joker trying to entertain people too, there's something endearing about it when Joker does that, like he's looking for approval, it's almost ..charming)

The greasy hair in combination with that weightier style Joker seems to indicate that they're going for a `hyper-realistic' clinically insane megalomaniacal Joker. The type of Joker that exists in the real world.

(don't you mean "that _would_ exist in the real world", Maelstrom ? - Ed)

No.

(nurse Brute', come quick he's having a relapse! - Ed)

*pull cane from Ed's ear*

*spin cane*

*WHAM* *WHAM* *WHAM* AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*pause*

*tilt head*

*tug down on purple shirt*

The boxed masks are interesting too, for some reason it reminds me of the dilapidated carnival we bought and visited in TKJ.

So far I'm LOVIN the (limited - Ed) implications and inferences you can draw from these #@$!@#! grainy photos, but not TOO heavy a focus on realism please Nolan, let's see some of the lean mean killing machine Joker theatrics too.

Forget the full Monty, bring on the full Monty Python..

*tap and spin cane* and remember when you're feeling very small and insecure how amazingly unlikely is your birth,
and pray that there's intelligence life in space, cause there's bugger all down 'ere on earth.

*goose-step*

(*shudder* make the bad man go away - Ed)

*Ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip*

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Can't freakin wait for this movie.

Not for nothing, but people are reading way too much into these pics. He probably has his hands behind his back because that`s how he stands or maybe he had to take a leak. I do agree that it looks like he is staring at something, but to try and figure out what type of Joker portrayal by the pics is just lunacy.

On a side note, again, am I the only one here who thinks this dual personality commentary by maelstrom is wearing thin and the sllightest bit annoying?
