What did Singer Pitch For SUPERMAN Sequel?

One of the pitches from Bryan Singer to Warner Bros executives for SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL has trickled online to various outlets. Brendon from Film Ick posted that pitch online. With the story concept pitch, Singer also provided the WB execs with conceptual art for the production, a few storyboards, etc. Here's a general outline of the 3 big key points for this Superman Sequel pitch from Singer.

1.) Kryptonian character coming to Earth as a result of Supes' pilgrimage to his now dead homeworld. 2.) A new villain making a deal with Lex Luthor and then taking over Luthor's operations  & Lex-Corp and using Jason as a hostage. Something happens inside this sub-plot idea which would make some SR critics very pleased.  3.) The villain is reported to be "Braniac".

Now, I'm putting this up as "rumor" because there have been other rumors that these 3 key details above are getting changed around right now by Singer and Mike Dougherty. Some of them are being changed around by direction of Warner Bros and Singer. I can think of one big change that will probably be needed for this kind of pitch. There is no "Lex-Corp" in the theatrical franchise of films. I would normally say "SPOILERS" before providing the link to Brendon's story below, but seeing how this is only a "pitch" from Singer and how it's already rumored to getting changed around somewhat, I won't need to warn for Spoilers.

Here's the Pitch as posted by Brendon.

Thanks goes to veteran Mania scooper, Daforce, for passing it along..

Superman Returns was a great way to reinvent the franchise. I LOVED IT! ( It wass a little long) BUT I LOVED IT. Saw it 4 times in theaters.
SINGER IS A GENIUS, Can't wait for The Man of Steel. I know not many of you out there agree with me, BUT I LOVED SR and Cant wait.. oh I repeating myself. damn

Just for you Mr Singer- I will help you out of the corner you painted:
1. Stop with Lex Luthor already and move on to another villain- choose Brainiac or Darkseid...Superman is practically a god-give him someone to square off with. If you go with Zod then you are back where you were with the Lois thing and the continuity of films.
2. You want drama? the kid has to be sacrificed- sorry it sounds cruel but you can't have Superboy running around coughing and wheezing his way thru this trilogy.
3. Set up plotpoints for Doomsday in the third movie- normally I would say just do the death of Superman storyline now but you have to tie up the strings with the kid and the love triangle between Richard,Lois and Superman.
4. Blow some sh*t up! Jeez- aside from the airplane rescue the movie was tame.
5. Recast Lois- either Kate Bosworth just didn't feel like researching the character as written in the books or she just can't act. Lois is headstrong, fierce, ballsy, smoking, drinking, hot dog eating little scamp of a woman who always has her nose where it don't belong. Teri Hatcher was miles ahead of Kate Bosworth.
Finally- Stop with the Kryptonite 'deaux ex machina'- have him get a beatdown the oldfashioned way- it worked in the cartoon and in the books! Every film seems to focus on Kryptonite- Darkseid can kick his ass without it so let him.

I could care less!!! Bryan Singer and his co-writers don't know what the hell they are doing with this material, and thus, it is time to give them the pink slip already!!!

They had their chance with Superman Returns, and wrote it in a weekend over drinks during a vacation in Hawaii, hence the reason they blew it!!!

After that, I wouldn't trust Bryan Singer and crew to bake an apple pie!!! Well, maybe a Pop Tart.

I agree with Superfrank78, whole-heartedly!!!!

To say I hated Superman Returns is an understatement. The length of time was incredibily too long. The plot was a rehash of the 1st Superman. The subplot about him having a child with Lois was a huge mistake. It maybe a natural step in our reality that a one night stand may result in the woman being pregnant. But for Superman it made it seem like he was a deadbeat dad all around. You mean to tell me Superman couldn't hear that the child's conception in Lois's womb or seen her anatomy change pertaining to her cycle with his X-ray vision. What kind of Superman is he? The overall look of Superman was the only thing that kept me interested, and that's because I saw it in Imax. Which was pretty cool.
If Singer was going to continue off from the original movie and it's sequal, why have him prevent a natural disaster caused by the same villian, from the orginal movie, looking for the same payday from real estate, just like the original movie. They should had Lex Luthor become a model citizen and create LEXCORP in Superman's absence, making him the richest and most powerful man in the world, next to Bruce Wayne, with a undertone that he wants to seek revenge against Superman upon his return. Lex Luthor's nature is to be the top alpha dog, damn near a god. Superman is closest to being a god and Lex needs to beat Superman to feel and be god-like. Lex is a menace to all, because he will do the horrible to reach and surpass his goal. They should have had a big gigantic fight with Lex creating his battle suit and introduce Metallo as his henchman as a second villian. They could have Lex kidnap Lois putting her in the middle, being that Lex realized that in Superman 2 they deeply care about each other and maybe were lovers when they hugged after he defeated Zod and company.
The superkid subplot was ridiculous. But it was cool when he gave his speech to his son like his father gave him. I felt that was a touching moment because of me having sons.
Also I'm a firm believer that Superman should be a little more bulkier. More muscle mass like that fan made movie trailer World's Finest with Batman & Superman in it.

You liked the overall look of Superman Returns??? Please!!! Michael Bay had almost 100 million dollars less of a budget for Transformers, than Superman Returns, but you saw all the money on the screen...yet with Superman Returns, where did the money go???!!!

If you compare both movies, and didn't know the budget of either film, you could sware that Transformers cost 100 to 200 million more.

I loved Superman Returns. I saw it opening day in IMAX 3D in Natick. I was simply blown away. Not even the narrating guy next to me could ruin it for me.

I happen to like this pitch quite a bit, and I really hope it's real. It'll finally set up a legitimate Luthor who's more in the shadows, and bring in some supervillains that everyone's been dying to see on screen. Once again, I'll be there day one.

Wow. Super Jr. was the only thing I liked about Superman Returns. I loved the idea of Supes having a kid - it could've freshened up the franchise. If they kill off the kid, I won't see the movie. (I realize that wouldn't break the series, it would simply kill this trilogy for me. I couldn't watch it happen.)

I do agree that Kate Bosworth is a little meek and reserved. Teri Hatcher was a great Lois Lane: tough and competitive but still sympathetic and emotional. She really made that show. IMO, she's the bets of all the Loises (including Smallville).

I thought Tom Welling was going to be in this, oh wait damn, wrong talkback.

Seriously though, Superman Returns was great, I thought, and hopefully the sequel will have him fighting a big baddie for once, instead of a baldy (enough of Luthor all ready, we get enough of him in the show, all though I thought Spacey was great) Bring on Doomsday or Brainiac, great idea.

Note to Editor: What's up? No news of the Ripper (Giles) show finally happening over at the BBC? Can this be confirmed? Get on it damnit, that's bigger news in my book! sorry to get off topic, go supes!

Hey Singer I almost forgot- go watch the last episode of JLU and do us a favor and use the fight sequence between Superman and Darkseid- even if it is a different villain use the sequence! and steal the dialogue:
"My whole life I have felt like I live in a cardboard box never able to really cut loose but you can take it can't you big boy? Now I'm going to show you just how powerful I am.."(I paraphrased but you get it)
Big mega punch- villain flies/crashes thru three or four buildings...Superman speed flies to where the villain is going to be and decks him huge one more time...BOOM down towards earth-massive crater massive butt-kicking.
No more kryptonite shiv's to the kidneys so a bunch of losers can kick him around- Smallville has better fights between Lex and Clark(the episode where Lex had the ring with the kryptonite was alot more interesting than a prison shiv to the back)
