Disney focuses on Bruckheimer's G-FORCE

Walt Disney Productions has slowed down the production to the 3rd installment of Chronicles of Narnia in favor of pushing producer Jerry Bruckheimer's next tentpole release, G-FORCE, to the summer 2009 season. The Disney film will be directed by Hoyt Yeatman. Two other things of note for our readers. One, Bruckheimer is still working on the adaptation of the Prince of Persia movie for a summer 2009 release and two, G-Force has no connection to "Gatchaman/aka Battle of the Planets"...which also had an original title by the same name, G-Force.

Plot Concept: The story centers on a group of intelligent animal commandos working for a government agency trying to prevent an evil billionaire from taking over the world.

Yes. Prince of Persia still remains for 2009. I'm looking foward to that film, it has potential to be a video game movie that is actuallly worthwhile.
Bay was supposed to be attached to this, now that Transformers 2 is being held back, is he still in the running??

Wow that sounds like the best idea in the history of movies push back a beloved novel adaption which by then will be even more popular after the second movie and is in my opinion the best in all of Lewis' Narnia series for a film about G.I. Joe animals. I have a feeling this will work out well for Disney.

Yeah, not sure who made this choice? Plus for a company who likes having control over all it's 'property' nice to see them 'stealing' another shows title. That's pretty lame. Next lets make a movie called Space Ghost about a retired monkey who used to work for NASA...that wouldn't be confused with the cartoon!

At the moment, hanso, that was just a rumor. I know Michael Bay isn't having the most friendliest of relationships with Disney even if Bruckheimer continues with them....

Right now, there is no director attached...

Jordan Mechner and Jeffrey Nachmanoff are working on the adaptation from Game>>>Movie.

John August and Jerry Bruckheimer are the headline producers in charge of the project.

Rumors have been from previous relationships:

-Bay will direct
-Johnny Depp will star

It's real easy to see where those rumors spawned from without any disregard to "contracts". Depp(from the Pirates trilogy which Bruckheimer produced)...Bay(from the long relationship with Jerry).

I wouldn't count on either of those rumors becoming true and if I had to pick between one of them, I'd say the Depp one would come true over Bay.

I know Bay might like staying with Paramount/Dreamworks over coming back to Disney.

Yeah, I am normally a positive person,,,,,but this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. First of all, to call this movie G-Force sucks, because i got all excited until i read the article.....I would much rather see a Prince of Persia movie with Bay directing and Depp attached.......that would be very, very cool. I am sure the animal/space/ save the world thing will be cute and fun in its own right, but come on. Bring on the real G-Force.

i was also a bit excited initially... but then again it wouldn't seem right that a decent Gatchaman G-FORCE movie would be made under a Disney banner since Gatchaman actually has some adult undertones in it, some violence & some sexuality, and im talking about the Japanese Gatchaman series, the ones un-edited for Western audiences

Did "Cats and Dogs" really do well enough to justify this? Sad. What does G stand for? Growl? Grrr?

Word, Galaga. What the hell does "G" stand for?

I can't believe they pushed back Dawn Treader for this.

Why are animal commandos needed to stop an evil billionaire from taking over the world? I really think that the resources of the United States government, with trillions of dollars in annual spending, can easily handle a rogue billionaire.

What are these animal commandos? Are we talking Rats of Nimh, Watership Down or Cats and Dogs?

It all sounds pretty sketchy to me.
