Danny Huston has been cast as a young William Stryker for the upcoming spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine, reports Joblo. Thespian Bryan Cox originally played the character in X2: X-Men United. Hugh Jackman returns as the clawed hero while Liev Schreiber takes over as Logan's nemesis Victor Creed/Sabertooth, originally played by Tyler Mane. Kodi Smit-McPhee is also on board as a younger Logan in the 20th Century Fox production, which is currently under way in New Zealand. Gavin Hood is directing, based off a screenplay by David Benioff.
Two other sites are reporting other possible news for the film. FilmSchoolRejects have received a tip about a possible character cameo which is spoilerish so beware before hitting the link. IESB is also reporting that actress Lynn Collins is up for the Silver Fox character. When we can get confirmations for both, we'll pass it along.
Plot Concept: Leading up to the events of "X-Men," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine will hit theaters May 1, 2009.
