In a move to avoid heavy screen competition, Disney has begun making moves in their 2009 release schedule. One of the films getting a release date change is the upcoming Bruckheimer-produced adaptation of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which was originally scheduled for July 10 has now been pushed ahead to June 16, 2009. The move now has it head of Paramount's Transformers 2 (June 26) and Ice Age III (July 1).

In a counter programming move, Disney has sloted their upcoming Hannah Montana Movie for May 1, 2009, which means it will be going up against the Fox superhero tale X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The studio also has Old Dogs, a sequel to last year's Wild Hogs, hitting theaters on April 10, 2009.

Their futuristic cop actioner Surrogates, starring Bruce Willis, will debut for the Thanksgiving holidays on Nov. 20, 2009.

Hanna Montana vs Wolverine!!!!!!!!
GO WOLVERINE!
Old Dogs will explain all the hanging plotlines that were left open with Wild Hogs! (why not just call it Wild Hogs II?)

That's good news...let's see Hannah take some claws up side her head if not sever it...I see teen boys going and watching Wolverine and girls going and watching Hannah either way boys spend more money at the movies than girls (meaning repeat viewings) so I don't see a problem here...
LOTRSUXSDUMMY...I think Hannah better move her ass instead of Wolverine...Disney has under estimated the power of comic books and it shows since they don't have any rights to any period...As a matter of fact if it was not for Pirates Disney would be up shit creek and they have said so themselves as far as movie releases are concerned and even have praised the Lord for Pixar because if it was not for them, well, they would be up shit creek without a paddle even more...

I really hope that Prince of Persia sticks to the "Sands of Time" storyline. The first game in the recent trilogy is a masterpiece, and they shouldn't deviate too far from that.

I don't really see much of a conflict here since Hannah and Wolvie have two very different audiences. The only problem may be if moms don't want to split up the family in which case one side would lose but probably make it up the following weekend. But make no mistake, Wolverine is going to crush Hannah.

It will be interesting to see who flinches here. I think a lot of it will depend on how Wolverine (the movie) looks as we start to see photos & video. If it looks like the movie will kick ass, I think Hannah will move. If it's looking cheesy and not getting good feedback, Wolverine will get dodge the Disney bullet.

Maybe have a Commerical with Hannah Montanna riding in the car without a seatbelt, then Wolverine comes in and cuts her head off and says" Make sure you use your seatbelt". That would set it up well. I didn't even know they were doing Ice Age III....I like those movies though. I thought Wild Hogs was funny, but could have been much better, but I am all for a sequal. Never got into the Prince of Persia games, but my buddy says they are awesome, so I'd love to see what they come up with.

Wow, do i know how to stir some dumb ass fanboys or what? Even with a non-offensive comment like my previous one.. I stand by what i saw anyways, and reason being is because those money hungry whores at fox will not have faith in how strong their movie will do, specially against a more kiddie friendly product, so that might be reason enough to move it to a different date

Why is this the first I'm hearing about a futuristic cop actioner, starring Bruce Willis, on a site dedicated to providing news about this specific genre?! And I still know nothing about it...

Momitchell7,

Because there hasn't been anything for us to say on it. In fact, the last bit of news on the Surrogates was Bruce Willis getting attached to the project in November.

When more news pops up on it, we will pass it along as always.
