Good call on the Dark Knight, Hanso.

jedibanner - yeah dude, it's pretty ridiculous.  Or is pathetic the word I'm looking for?  ;)

IceMonster 1/28/2010 6:33:19 AM

Wiseguy, did anybody you KNOW die on Pandora?  Words cannot describe the level of offense I'm feeling right now, no matter how misplaced it might be.  DON'T COMPARE SOMETHING IN A SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE TO OUR ACTUAL LOSS...AS I SEE IT, YOU JUST SHIT ON MY SISTER'S MEMORY.

SarcasticCaveman 1/28/2010 6:37:35 AM

Aaaaand the fun comes to a screeching halt...icemonster, I'm sure you know that was not Wiseguy's intent.  I couldn't begin to understand your feelings on the matter, not having lost anybody myself on that awful day, but you have to know that nobody here would try to make light of anybody's loss or pain.

hanso 1/28/2010 6:43:55 AM

What about the sad bastards that want to live in Pandora and even contemplate suicide because Earth isn't as pretty as Pandora? Now those are truly pathetic mofos.

SarcasticCaveman 1/28/2010 6:44:56 AM

But Wiseguy, you might want to start thinking a bit more before you speak...I recently heard that you kind of liked Avatar, but you might want to reign in the love and worship when it comes to actual events and drawing comparisons. You could have easily just compared the tree to Pearl Harbor...I doubt any WW2 vets frequent this page.

SarcasticCaveman 1/28/2010 6:49:06 AM

I had not heard about those sad bastards, Hanso...WOW...don't get me wrong, Pandora was a beautiful place, but I'm not sure I could live in a place with a weak plot or derivative characters.

Wiseguy did nothing but make a simple comparison. The tree coming down was just as devastating to the characters in the movie as it was in real life for us to watch the twin towers come down. I see absolutely nothing offensive in his statement. Icemonster, you need to lighten up. 9/11 was a horrific travesty and I'm truly sorry for your loss as well as everyone else who lost someone that day.

Wiseguy 1/28/2010 7:18:17 AM

The comparison I made was in the movie, as I clearly said, meaning in the movie the loss of the hometree to the Na'vi could be compared to the TT coming down. See how in the movie it's slowed down a bit and we catch the looks of terror and panic from the Na'vi as the tree comes down. I was across the river and if not for the smoke I would've seen the Towers themselves come down so I know the look on some of our faces when that went down

Now is that clear enough for you all? If not then it's too bad. And no I won't apologize so if you're offended deal with it or walk arouind with eyes and ears shut cause a lot more offensive stuff has been said and written, and meant to be offensive unlike my comment

And Caveman, the entire article is about drawing comparisons to real life, HELLO. I thought out my comment well enough and there's nothing offensive there unless you're looking to make it so

SarcasticCaveman 1/28/2010 7:22:33 AM

On one hand I agree 6dra6on6, and I do think people need to chill before they type something out of hurt or anger on here...but (and purely playing devil's advocate here) we refer to "us" when we think of 9/11, but the truth is, many people were hit a LOT harder than the collective "us".  While some people may need to lighten up, I'm not sure that you or I have the right to actually tell them that.

SarcasticCaveman 1/28/2010 7:25:24 AM

Save it, Wiseguy, I stood up for you too...I just try to make comments that hopefully let people see both sides of an arguement on here.
