Actually, It WAS never touted as Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. BUT the words "Episode IV" were at the beginning of the text scrawl at the beginning. So yes, it was always Episode IV. I went back and looked at the original version I have on VHS. And it is there in the opening scrawl. But NOT in the title.

Agree that Dark Knight shouldn't be #1 on this list but somewhere in the top 5 would've been correct. Batman Begins should be #1, now that was a borefest

Was Ghostbusters 2 hyped a lot? I know it sure as hell didn't live up to any expectations

Matrix Reloaded definitely didn't live up to expectations but I still think it was a pretty damn good action flick even though I try to zone it out as part of the first  which I rather view as a stand alone. I would've put Revolutions in its stead

okay i wouldnt change this list but i would add to it- how about batman and robin- the george clooney version- even he said he nearly killed the franchise,

Haha, nice you got me with the Dark Knight fake-out, good one. I agree with pretty much this whole list

Anyways, lots of movies just this past year could be on the list. I'll add "Watchmen" to this list.

I would also say Jurassic Park should be on the list, if you read the book first anyways, some of the best parts were picked up for part 3. On that note, most all of Michael C.'s books to movies were a let down, Congo, 13th Warrior, Timeline.

I woudn't say Batman & Robin, I don't think anyone expected anything better at that point.

Definitely have to disagree with Reloaded.  While it wasn't as fresh as the original it was still an awesome and fun film to watch.  I thought the philosophies woven into the plot made for a great story.  And the incredible action sequences balanced out all the philosphy. I have to agree with Wiseguy that if any Matrix was on the list it would be Revolutions, but in my opinion, that wouldn't be on the list either since that film finished the trilogy off with an orgy of action and vfx that completely satisified my expectations.

Even though Jurassic Park was hyped like crazy, it definitely lived up to it.  It would have to be on the list of Top 10 over-hyped movies that deserved it, along with Dark Knight and Avatar.

If it deserved it it wasn't OVER hyped.

Jurrasic Park was a thrill ride that has been hard to beat over the years.  I still remember seeing this in a packed theater where I actually had to split up from my buddy because of lack of seats.  Some chick I never met grabbed a hold of my arm very tightly the first time the T-Rex got on screen.  That folks is movie magic, that because of the internet we are hard pressed to be surprised anymore.  The thing that made that move work was the secrecy and not being able to see said T-Rex until you were in your seat staring at that big screen and hearing that thunderous roar.

Reloaded has one of the best highway chase scenes i've ever seen in a movie.

Am I the only one who just completely got lost in the "philosophy" and "theology" of Reloaded?  The first movie made you kinda think that Neo really wasn't The One, and that The One really doesn't exist.  Then in the second he's all of a sudden Mr. Badass and he's embraced the title.  And tell me what it means to already have made a choice and now you have to understand it.  WTF does that even mean?  And you don't truly know someone until you fight them?  Seriously, I think they tried to make the story, for the whole trilogy, a little too deep and philosophical.  They ended up kinda stepping on their own toes.  I thought things like these really dragged the trilogy down.  I don't hate the movies (well, maybe Revolutions) but I'm not exactly crazy about them like many people seem to be.  Maybe I'm just missing something.
