Even if you look at Afflecks carreer before Gigli, his better roles were supporting roles.

What about Jim Caveizel? He's been nowhere since Passion. I read somewhere he was warned over and over that that movie would end his career. Can't quite remember the reasoning though.

William Friedkin had success after Sorcerer. To Live and Die in LA is an excellent example of that. Having said that he has always been and up and down director even  before Sorcerer.

There are two positive things I can say about The Postman.  First, it had a very cool cameo by Tom Petty, playing Tom Petty.   Secondly, it was better than Waterworld.

On the down side, it made a hash of a very interesting short story on which it was based.  And Kostner's performance was embarrasing.

I disagree with someone mentioning Travolta. Wild Hogs is hilarious and he's awesome in Hairspray.

As for Mariah, she got rave reviews for her role in Precious. So I think the jury is still out on what she can do in movies

What about M. Night Shyamalan's involvement in just about everything since The Sixth Sense?

@metalpause: Signs and Unbreakable were pretty good though!  If anything for Shayamalan, I'd say it'd be everything from The Village onwards myself.

I agree with Tonebone, Wild Hogs was awesome.

I agree with Butchman regarding Friedkin... the guy has done some solid work since Sorcerer... Deal of the Century, To Live and Die in LA, and Rules of Engagement. Prior to Sorcerer his big films were Exorcist and The French Connection. Granted Exorcist was huge, but sorcerer certainly didn't kill his career.

I'll be the 2nd to say Mariah is done in movies and thank God.  Plus she is already over 40 even if she wants to act and dress like she is 18.

Mcaulay Culkin and The Good Son.
