Great article Rob.

I love the Universal Monster movies and their history. These movies are definitely timeless classics and I'm looking forward to picking up the blu-ray set today. :)

Enjoyed the article as well.  The details of the Universal monsters are endlessly interesting to me.

I'd love to see the monsters return in individual movies.  Reestablish them as iconic and serious monsters.  Then allow them to cross over.  Those were my favorites as a kid.  House of Frankenstein...all of the key monsters in one film.  Go the Marvel route and have this as an overall plan.  I know Wolfman has recently been done (and, Dracula in the 90's ((never realized just how bad it was until I rewatched it the other night.))   But, nothing under one umbrella.  How fun would that be?  One can dream...

Lugosi DID actually play Frankenstein's Monster in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man...

Great article, Rob!  I love it!  I've always been a HUGE fan of the old, black & white horror films.  I am also a huge fan of Abbott and Costello (have been since I was a kid), so I LOVE Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein!!

Side trivia:  My grandmother was friends with Lugosi.  They were both from Hungary, and would attend weekend soccer games in Los Angeles together (my grandfather was the goalie for one of the local teams back then).  She said he was a very kind man, but his drug habits ruined him.  I guess things haven't changed for Hollywood stars much in the last 80 years.
