It's obvious that Captain America, Thor and IronMan will be on the team

Black Widow and the Hulk are strong possibilities

After that for the first movie I would only add the Wasp and Giant/Ant Man (Hank Pym). I think these are enough for the first time out. BW is enough of a badass that we can do without Hawkeye this time around.

I just don't want to overload the film with characters. Let's get to know and introduce them to world first, properly. I know Thor and Cap will have their own movie and IM will be at #2 by then but let's get the chemistry right before adding to this.

Djimon Hounsou as Black Panther!!! ...... Yup..

Umm. Isn't Ant-Man getting his own movie? Edgar Wright is working on it.  I believe Marvel has already stated its intentions of including him in the Avengers line-up.  I believe they are including Cap as an original member of the Avengers, owing to an Ultimates-style take on the team.

As far as Scarlet Witch, I believe her 1st appearance was in the X-Men, so I would think the rights to that character would be with the X-Men package.

Oh, and I agree with Obsidian. At some point, either in the Avengers or one of the sequel movies, Ant-Man should make the transition to Giant Man.  Very cool!

Ant Man and Wasp for the first movie, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Vision for the second and Black Panther for the 3rd. Or perhaps reverse the 2nd and 3rd.  On the other hand, can you have Vision without Wonderman since doesn't Vision have Simon's brain pattern? I agree there may be a Mutant Rights Issue... (Sorry, someone had too...)

I think we pretty much know who will comprise the Avengers, I'm more interested in who there adversaries will be?

I'm sure Loki will be there Badguy in the 1st one..or maybe even Ultron!! That is if Hank Pym is going to be in the movie.

Wasn't Namor an original Avenger or at least there in the beginning? He's the one that found Captain America in the ice in the first place. I doubt they would even go there but it would be cool for him to cameo in the Captain America movie.
It would great if they added the Black Panther but its unlikely. The Pyms, definitely. I don't think it would be all that uncomplicated to use The Vision. He's basically an artificial intelligence created by Ultron but they could tweak the origin so it was Pym who created him. Hawkeye would be cool, but then you'd have to have Mockingbird.

The Scarlet Witch thing seems complicated because I thought when FOX got the rights, it was to all X-Men properies. I would never consider Wanda an X-men but she is a mutant and is Magneto's daughter who is part of the X-men property. Its tricky. But even they had Scarlet Witch, what about Quicksilver?

I`m with Wiseguy. Just keep it simple. Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and maybe the Wasp and Ant-man. At least for the first movie.

Caps status as an Original Avenger is somewhat special.  True, he wasn't technically one of the original five, having first appeared in issue 4, but as far as the originals and all the other Avengers are concerned, and indeed as written in the Avengers Charter, he is one of them.

Personally, I like the idea of the West Coast Avengers getting their own movie.  Sounds kinda like a Marvel version of Mystery Men.

Chiwetel Ejiofor AS BLACK PANTHER! If you never saw Josh Whedon's Serenity, the film adaption of the TV show Firefly, he plays simply "The Operative", a very deadly character and excellent fighting skills. Doubt his fighting ability, check out "Redbelt" where he goes the way of the Samurai with some serious real world martial arts skills. Even though he is British his parents weren't, they were Nigerian I think. So the guy's got the African heritage just in case anyone wants to nit pick on that factor for a qualified star. Ultimately the biggest factor for this actor being the best choice... his acting chops. He's played Hero, Villain and just plain acted in a variety of roles. A true Brit Thespian that really lends his weight to a film with the same M.O. that Marvel Studios seems to be following for all their recent films leading men.

Don't get me wrong Djimon Hounsou is a great actor but there is something that about Ejiofor that speaks regality that he seems to better suited to pull off. I can Hounsou as a King, but more like King Thulsa Doom.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is not bad of an actor too, but probably a harder sell being a lesser known actor. Sure Mr.Eko from Lost and G.I. Joe's Heavy Duty are under his belt, but so is The Mummy Returns as one of the guards. Which was less than stellar.

Bottom line, having a qaulity actor Ejiofor bantering between hopefully equally qualified candidate of Captain American and Downey's excellent Stark its a great match up for an Avengers movie. A good actor such as that serves to help make an already great cast better.
