Guardians of the Galaxy arrives August 1st, 2014

Marvel.com has released 7 new images from their upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. I am in awe of these images. It looks as if James Gunn, Marvel, and Disney, have created a lived in universe a la Star Wars. Outside of that, I see two other things on the horizon. The first being, will their be a cartoon series of these characters on Disney XD? The last thing is about Chris Pratt. If you take into consideration The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, and next summer’s Jurassic Park sequel, he is on the precipice of becoming an A-List star.

Synopsis: From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy's fate in the balance.
Guardians of the Galaxy features Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael and Benicio Del Toro as The Collector.
Guardians of the Galaxy arrives August 1st, 2014.

I predicted when they cast Pratt that if this movie is a success that his career was going to skyrocket him into A List status.  The dude is seriously funny in Parks and Rec, Lego Movie and now what we've seen hear.  Add in the dramatic roles he's had like in Zero Dark Thirty and there you go.

These aren't exactly new images. Just screencaps from the trailers we've already seen...

I wish they'd kept the reveal of the severed head of the Celestial out of the trailer leaving it as a surprise.

I wish morons who saw a reveal in a trailer kept to themselves and left it as a surprise.

I wish morons who watch the movie trailers realize there are spoilers in them, otherwise, what's the point of a trailer? Aren't they 2 and a half minute spoilers anyhow?

HomestarRunner 6/20/2014 10:33:48 AM

A lot of trailers have spoilers in them, but they tend to be quick shots or otherwise seemingly unimportant scenes. By the time the average moviegoer sees the movie, (s)he only remembers the bits of the trailer that stood out so those spoilers are forgotten and the viewer still experiences that sense of surprise.

HomestarRunner 6/20/2014 10:37:11 AM

However, when someone acknowledges a spoiler within a trailer, that scene becomes a remembered bit because now it has special significance, thus robbing the viewer from the reveal as they will be expecting this scene.

It just kind of sucks, is all.

Yeah, I just thought it was a small moon that happened to look like a head! So, is it supposed to be the head of a Galactus type character, or something?

I must admit that I was hesitant about seeing this movie but now I'm excited.  I got my hands on some GOTG and actually enjoyed them quite a bit.
