The MPAA officially announced today that the 4th installment in the Die Hard franchise (Live Free or Die Hard) will be rated PG-13. This has been a rumor going for two weeks now which actually caused Bruce Willis to answer online to accusations that Fox and director Len Wiseman (Underworld) toned down the movie as in comparison to the other three Rated R Die Hard movies.

Bruce immediately tried to qualm immediate fears by saying all that MPAA wanted to do is take out a lot of the F-Bombs. After the cuts and the approved MPAA PG-13 Rating, there will be one or two F-Bombs instead. All the action and body count is going to stay as is...

The MPAA rating announcement aside..Yahoo movies has got an exclusive 8 minute clip of Live Free or Die Hard now up and running.

Live Free or Die Hard opens up next Wednesday in theaters everywhere.

How about the ratings for the people that don't give two flying ****'s what the movie their watching is rated.

Anyways....Woooo! Die Hard!

I've noticed the ratings board is getting more lenient when it comes to granting PG-13 ratings rather than R recently. Like it matters. I doubt anyone under 18 has even seen Die Hard. If they haven't, they don't know what they're missing.

What a joke the MPAA is if removing a few "F-bombs" changes the rating.

Violence is ok. Anything else is bad, apparently.

There's something about the look and sound of the footage I've seen that I don't like. It definitely looks like it's shot digitally and the music isn't as immediate or in sync with it like the previous movies. I really miss the grand cinematic feel the Diehard movies have had in the past. This seems much less operatic. I can't say I'm that excited. Sure, the plane stuff looks great but the overall look does not. Plus I'm not really crazy about the typical smartass, whining sidekick/protectee (even though Sam Jackson did this kind of character justice). Justin Long isn't bad but it just makes me wish he catch a round to the head early on and let Bruce Willis get back to business. To have let anyone other than McTiernan to make this was wrong, plain and simple.

The previews I've seen look more in line with a Micheal Bay film.

Anyway, if all they are deleting are the "f-bombs" it should be all right. They'll probably be reinstated in the inevitable "Unrated Edition".

Good point ! I recently watch The marine Unrated dvd ! It s exactly 0.30 second different with the original one, but more Unrated DVD was sold ! It s only business...They should regul this unrated mention otherwise it s cheating !

Yeah, I don`t know if its the digital footage or the pace of the trailers but this does have Micheal Bay`s wretched stench all over it. I`m still going to give it a shot. Its freakin John McClane for god`s sake!

It really only needs one "F-Bomb" that's preceded by a "Yippee ki yay mother" and followed by an "er."

And a PG-13 vs. R rating could make a huge difference. Whether or not kids have seen Die Hard (which they probably have, it's on FX all the time) it's still an action movie out during the summer with a PG-13 rating.

I hope Justin Long's character survives to the very end, and then the last scene a PC falls on his head and kills him.

I was not going to see this movie before I saw the trailers. Looks good. :)

I think it might be a mistake to release this movie with a PG-13 rating. Look at the last three movies. Each one was rated R. Why give the newest movie a different rating? The original Die Hard was almost famous for its bloody shootings and rampant curse words. I'm all for PG-13 movies, and even a few PG movies in the middle, but I think some movies need to be rated R.
