Update: The 8-minute faux Gotham News will be available tonight here. A couple of other viral sites had some updates as well today. In relation to the faux Gotham news, Harvey Dent has posted a victory statement at his campaign website and there have been updates at TrustGarcetti.com and DanaWorthington.com.

Original Story: Director Christopher Nolan and those marketing geniuses over at Warner Bros. continue to impress fans with tons of goodies for their upcoming Dark Knight sequel. The latest treats is an alternative trailer, which you can watch below. Another bit of coolness is an 8-minute faux broadcast of
"Gotham Tonight with Mike Engel" (Engel is being played by Anthony Michael Hall). The sequel to Batman Begins stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Nolan once again directed and penned the screenplay alongside brother Jonathan Nolan.

Plot Summary: "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

The Dark Knight will hit theaters July 18, 2008.

Here's that alternative trailer.

That 8 minute Gotham News was awesome. Easy to admit that I love what Nolan and the marketing guys are doing with this movie. Just the amount of the fanboyism they put into some of their viral sites (like the Gotham Newspaper) had me impressed.

Can't wait for July 18.

This site needs a better class of maniac and I'm going to give it to them, you'll see, i'll show you

hanso • Jun 13, 2008, 09:31pm •
HOLY FUCK.

I can't take it no moe!!! I need the movie, i need it, I need it now. For the love of Nelson Mandela, pleaseeeeeeeee someone show me the flick.
I can't take anymore of these trailers,tv spots, fake news I must have the moviee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read that The Dark Knight was more badass than Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris people, you know what that means!!!???
Lives will be changed 7/18/08.

The Dark Knight owns youuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, this is completely off subject but it worries me so I will mention it.

It has come to my attention that the man that we know as Bret Ratner was mentioned in the same breath as God of War, meaning he would direct the film.

As you all know I've been saying to anyone that will read that God of War must be made into a film.
But...

FOR THE LOVE OF MY UNBORN CHILDREN AND ALL THAT IS HOLY WE MUST STOP THIS MAN FROM COMING NEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone please stop this fool!!!!!

Ok, we now return to your regular programming,

I just rewatched the trailer and I think wet myself. Have I mentioned that the Dark Knight owns you? Well it does!!!!!! Buahahahaha.

My boy Joey was right, at this rate I won't make it to the premiere.

I wouldn't worry, Hanso.

Ratner will be busy doing Beverly Hills Copy IV (confirmed) to do that one. The God of War with Ratner has never been confirmed by anyone on his camp or by the studio.

The man's name seems to be attached to too many movies by rumors alone but little of it is ever fact.

See, now that's what I like, a man with the information.
Thanks playa, you've set me at ease and now I don't have to contemplate shooting myself rather than seeing Ratner take on GoW.

Am I the only one who is not seeing the 8-minute deal? I click the link but it only shows like a 30 second long clip. What's the deal?

sportwarrior • Jun 13, 2008, 11:32pm •
What am I missing here... the only thing I see is a 30 second clip about "On the next Gotham Tonight"... Where's the 8 minute clip?

JarrodSarafin • Jun 13, 2008, 11:43pm •
Looks like they either took it down or the links changed. I'll look for it guys and replace the link above.

If I don't see this movie SOON my head is going to implode.
