I liked Transformers because it's exactly what I thought it was going to be: Giant Robots beating the crap out of each other. No, it wasn't perfect and it could have been better but it was still a decent popcorn flick (and this is coming from someone who grew up on the cartoon, the toys and cried when Optimus died in the animated movie). My only real complaint is their was too much emphasis on the human aspect of the story and not enough on the Autobots or the Decepticons. Hopefully, the sequel will be a more robot-centric film (now that we've gotten the supposed origin story out of the way) and maybe we'll see the grand-daddy of all evil robots in the third flick. Unicron, anybody?

@Wiseguy562 It's been my experience that that's only the case half of the time. For example, the American remake of The Ring is better than it's Japanese original, Ringu (or at least IMO). But the Japanese version of The Grudge (aka Ju-On) will forever be superior to the piece of crap that Sarah Michele Gellar was in. I have the original Hong Kong "The Eye" on DVD and it's one my favorite films. I'll go see this just to see what they've done with it but most likely they'll screw it up.
