New Set Photos for DA VINCI Prequel - Jun 07, 2008 - 04:25am
I wondered when looking at the pictures, was Tom Hank's hair going to be the same as in the other movie. He had that long hair in Da Vinci Code, and it was made fun of in Epic Movie. So seeing the pictures, I was suprised that his hair is shorter this time. The pics, too, are nothing big. Just some behind the scenes shots and other stuff. But I'msure the movie will be good when it comes out.
NBC Unleashes Fall Premiere Dates - May 25, 2008 - 05:08am
I'm waiting for Heroes. It's my favorite show on TV at the moment and on DVD. It's good to know ER is finally ending, because the show's gotten a little tired after fourteen years. And I watch Law & Order: SVU very often, so I'm waiting for that new season, too.
Three TV Spots for DARK KNIGHT - May 16, 2008 - 04:48am
I saw TV Spot #1 last night during Smallville and ER. But something about it really caught my attention. You see Batman riding his motorcyle through a corridor. It looked very familiar, so I paused it to get a better look, only to see that it's actually a train station, the very same train station I go to all the time. I knew The Dark Knight filmed here in Chicago, but at the train station I commute to regularly? Now I definitely have to see the movie when it comes out.
5 Almost-Great Sci-Fi Films Worth a Second Look - May 15, 2008 - 04:41am
Enemy Mine, loved it. Runaway, saw only a little bit of it once. Same with Time Bandits. Only saw a bit of it. Night of the Creeps, fun 80's horror movie. And Lifeforce, an interesting movie. I still remember seeing the trailer when I
was five. Long time ago.
Rapaport Breaks Into PRISON - May 14, 2008 - 05:38am
I've been a fan of the show since it started, but I didn't like that the last season was only half of what it could've been. I was suprised, too, that Sara was killed off. It'll be interesting to see this Rapaport fella and the character he'll play. I can hardly wait for the new season to start.
TERMINATOR 4 is PG-13? - May 05, 2008 - 04:56am
If this happens, it's all for the reason of reaching a wider audience. They probably got the idea from the Sarah Connor Chronicles series. That being a bit watered down for TV, but still filled with action and sci-fi stuff. If you look at the third movie, it could have easily got a PG-13 by cutting out some stuff and removing the few curse words therein. But we shouldn't think because of a possible different rating that it'll hurt the movie. The movie would work either way. We just have to wait and see.
New Trailer for Shyamalan's HAPPENING Online - May 03, 2008 - 05:37am
I must also agree with everyone else who agreed with the previous agreers. I haven't seen this new trailer yet, but the TV spots have started airing. I enjoy Shyamalan's movies, too. Each one, including The Village. That movie gets a bum rap because it's not really a genre film at all, but a drama with people wearing giant fur coats with pointy bone claws and scary looking monster faces. And Lady in the Water seemed to work a lot better, since that was a genre movie. I'm definitely going to see The Happening, too. I think it's going to be
a pretty happening movie.
Fox Goes For Sci-Fi Thrills in ZERO-G - Apr 29, 2008 - 06:22am
That's right. Uwe Boll, aside from a few movies, has made mostly video game adaptations. I say just stick with the video games, and skip the movie versions.
New Photos for X-FILES 2 Online - Apr 29, 2008 - 06:12am
They waited a little too long to do another movie. The first one was ten years ago. This sequel could've come out while the series was still on air. Or the sequel could've been right at the end of the series. But aside from that, I'm thinking of seeing the movie, because I liked the first one a lot.
Del Toro Talks About HOBBIT Films - Apr 28, 2008 - 07:31am
It's too bad Sam Raimi won't be doing the movies. He's busy with that To Hell movie and Spider-Man 4 through 12. But seriously, this is good news to read. I'm a religious fan of Guillermo del Toro's movies, and I also think he's the right choice to make them. The movies will probably have a diffrent style and look, but will still be set in that same world that's already been established. I'm definitely looking forward to these movies when they finally come out.
Tina Fey's MAMA Beats Harold & Kumar - Apr 27, 2008 - 07:47pm
I saw Harold & Kumar Friday. It was funny for a sequel. And since its budget was 12 mil and made 14 mil this weekend, then it's already recouped its price and a little extra to go with it.
Eli Roth Goes PG-13 and Sci-Fi - Apr 25, 2008 - 04:49am
I'm kind of suprised by this. Eli Roth, the guy who did "Hostel" and "Cabin Fever", doing a PG-13 movie?? Has the man sold out perhaps? We shouldn't think that. Even David Lynch once made a G rated movie, and that was "The Straight Story". And look at Peter Jackson, with his "Bad Taste" and "Dead Alive" movies. But it's kind of a suprise reading this bit of news. It shouldn't matter what the rating is, as long as it's a good movie. But me and myself, I enjoy both PG-13 and R rated movies. And I like Eli Roth's movies, so I think seeing his version of sci-fi will be interesting.
Aja Talks PIRANHA 3-D - Apr 18, 2008 - 10:29am
Thank you so much, Cap, for commenting on my comment, and for schooling me. It makes me feel
all special knowing that my comments have an effect on other Maniacs. :)
Aja Talks PIRANHA 3-D - Apr 18, 2008 - 06:40am
The original Pirahna was Joe Dante. James Cameron did the sequel. This remake caught my attention, too, but will it be a horror/comedy, or straight horror?
CLOVERFIELD - Apr 10, 2008 - 06:08am
I liked the movie, too, though it did cause me some slight motion sickness. I think they balanced the character and monster movie stuff really well. But still, it was that damn shaky camera. I wonder will watching the DVD on television have the same sickly effect on me. Only time itself shall tell.
McShane Toplines NBC's KINGS - Mar 31, 2008 - 06:03am
ABC tried to do a series set in the Roman period. The show was called "Empire", but it only lasted a few episodes. Maybe they're doing it modern day because they don't want to be comapred to HBO's "Rome". But Ian McShane on a network series?? That'll be the day. Actually, it looks like it already is.
Fear Itself on NBC and Fearnet - Mar 31, 2008 - 05:55am
I commented on this show before saying it was a mistake to do it on NBC. I still stand by my comments. I just think that watering it down is not a good idea. Some of you might disagree with me, and that's okay. But I'll wait for the show to air in May and see it for myself.
New TV Spot for INDY IV - Mar 30, 2008 - 09:19am
It'll probably have a PG-13 rating, and will be a more realistic movie, like Unforgiven and 3:10 to Yuma. Of course, I'm making a joke.
Pirates Scribes Penning LONE RANGER - Mar 28, 2008 - 10:18am
All right, guys. Here's my last comment. I still stand by choice of words. But now I'm sure the movie will "look" like Unforgiven or 3:10 to Yuma, but will probably be much lighter in tone. There you go, my fellow Maniacs.
Pirates Scribes Penning LONE RANGER - Mar 28, 2008 - 10:04am
To my fellow Maniacs, I stand by my comment, and I won't change the words I used there in. As I stated, I think the movie will be a more real looking western, the way they did the pirates movies, with their ugly, filthy, and unkept looking pirates. That's what I was trying to imply. And I stand by my choice of words. But maybe instead of Unforgiven or Silverado, the movie may be more like the recent Zorro films, which Ted and Terry were writers, or to an even lesser extent, it may be like the movie version of Wild, Wild West.
Pirates Scribes Penning LONE RANGER - Mar 28, 2008 - 05:20am
From the guys who made the Pirates trilogy. Those are movies I like very much, so I'm really interested in this one. It probably won't be like the old classic western shows. It'll be more realistic, like Unforgiven or th 3:10 to Yuma remake. I'm already waiting in the movie line for this one.
Prison Break Confirmed for Season 4 - Mar 25, 2008 - 05:25am
That's good news to know. I've been a fan of the show since it started, and the third season, while very good, was only half of what it could have been. I'll be waiting for the new season in the fall when it starts up. But it's too bad they won't be coming back here to film in Chicago, like in the first season.
Tony Soprano Takes on PELHAM - Mar 24, 2008 - 05:11am
I commented last week that James Gandolfini should be in that new HBO cop show, but having him play the mayor in a movie? Now that's a bit far fetched, but not so much. If he were to run for mayor of New York for real, I think people would actually vote for him.
Remar Reunites with Goyer for UNBORN - Mar 17, 2008 - 04:06pm
You're right, Sonyman. I'm sorry. It's funny you request that, because I was wondering should I call it Fields or that other name. I'm down on the south side, far from Wrigley Field.
Remar Reunites with Goyer for UNBORN - Mar 17, 2008 - 06:46am
Hey, Sonyman. They were filming around Wabash St., and the trailers were all parked right next to Macy's. They might still be there, but I don't know if they are now. Film crews don't often shoot in the same place more than a day.
Milch Lands New Cop Drama for HBO - Mar 17, 2008 - 05:40am
I was wondering if this show would be picked up, because I'd heard about it a while ago. I've always been a fan of NYPD Blue, so I'm interested in seeing this show, too. Maybe they'll get James Gandolfini to play the older detective. He's played cops before in movies, so that wouldn't be too far fetched.
Remar Reunites with Goyer for UNBORN - Mar 17, 2008 - 05:33am
I was downtown here in Chicago on Sunday the 16th. There were trailers parked on a street, but I didn't know for which movie. I thought maybe it was for Public Enemies, the gangster movie being made here. But I noticed on one of the trailers a sign saying the movie being made was "The Unborn". I didn't see any actors or David Goyer, but I would've like to have.
Kurt Wimmer Preparing METAL GEAR SOLID? - Mar 13, 2008 - 11:24am
How many video game adaptations have come out that were successful? The Resident Evil series would count, but only because they made some money. The first movie only stuck halfway to the game, and it shouldn't have. I'm sure I'm all alone when I say I did like the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Mortal Kombat, the first movie, had some good stuff in there, too. But then came Uwe Boll, with his Bloodrayne, House of the Dead, and Alone in the Dark movies.
But on to Metal Gear Solid, probably one of the greatest video game series ever. It could be a really good movie, if they do it like the video game and not take liberties and change this and that. But if the movie comes out and isn't like the video games, we'll still have the games to fall back on.
Pixar's Brad Bird Takes on 1906 Earthquake - Mar 13, 2008 - 05:47am
A fictional story set against a real life disaster. Sounds like Titanic or Pearl Harbor. But it might be interesting to see a live action movie made by Brad Bird. I didn't see Rattatooey (yes, I misspelled it). But of course, The Incredibles is my favorite of the Pixar movies, and I always liked his Family Dog cartoon he did for Amazing Stories. We'll have to wait and see what this movie will be like.
Columbia Has Successful POINT In Theaters - Feb 24, 2008 - 03:50pm
I saw two movies this weekend. George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead and Be Kind Rewind. Diary kind of suprised me a bit, because the amount of blood and gore wasn't so plentiful, as it was in Dawn and Day of the Dead. And Be Kind Rewind was, I would say, good/okay, but I did like it. I'm suprised it made 4.1 million. I thought it would be a lot less, since it's not a big budget studio film. And I just remembered something when I was leaving the movie theater today. I wanted to see Vantage Point. I guess I could catch it next week if I choose to.
Glimpse of Krauss for HELLBOY II - Jan 29, 2008 - 05:19am
And in case someone here wants to correct me, "See You Next Wednesday" was from 2001, then John Landis went on to use it in his movies. Just wanted to put that in.
Glimpse of Krauss for HELLBOY II - Jan 29, 2008 - 05:19am
I liked that first teaser, too. There's that "See You Next Wednesday" on the movie marquee. There were some letters missing, but you could tell that was the movie's title. That was a running gag in several John Landis movies. I'm waiting for this one, too. I think it'll be really good.
Look of the New INCREDIBLE HULK - Dec 24, 2007 - 07:33am
The CG Hulk will probably look like the concept drawing. He looks a bit darker green there, so the Hulk may be that color in the movie. I liked the first movie, so I'm waiting for this one to come out already.
THE MIST - Nov 24, 2007 - 06:03pm
I saw the movie Wednesday when it came out. I liked it, too. I heard that ending was not in the original story, but King himself liked it. I was suprised by the ending. But in the theater, some people were laughing at it. That means some people may look at it as a comedic ending, though that's hardly what it was.
Parisot to be WB's WEEKEND WARRIOR - Nov 19, 2007 - 07:38am
It'll probably be like My Super Ex-Girlfriend, with the superhero stuff and comedy put together. And they might just get Jim Carrey, who did Dean Parisot's last movie, to play the main character.
POLTERGEIST Remake Rumors Continue - Oct 27, 2007 - 08:59am
I agree with all you guys. I'm not complaining. I just think it's a mistake to remake these movies. I also think they should make good remakes. But all the complaining won't make it stop. We can either put up, shut up, or keep on complaining. I'm sure some of you will choose the latter.
Del Toro Talks MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS - Oct 26, 2007 - 08:12am
The other movies he's supposed to do are a new version of The Witches, and even a new take on Tarzan. But right now you can just add those to the list. I would think because of Pan's Labyrinth, he could just pick his next movie and get it done.
Miller Set to Helm AREA 52 - Oct 24, 2007 - 03:22pm
When I read the name "Miller", I thought it was George Miller, the Mad Max director. So it's not just Marvel and DC comics that are being made into the movies. Comic book movies, like remakes, are going to be around a while.
Wallace Helming Fantasy ARCANUM - Oct 23, 2007 - 07:40am
Or it's a little like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but Arthur Conan Doyle, Houdini, and Lovecraft were all real people, not fictional characters. It shouldn't matter if the plot concept sounds familiar. If Randall Wallace is doing it, it'll probably be a good movie.
CHUCKY Getting a Remake? - Oct 21, 2007 - 08:57am
I agree with Fedup, too. We can complain all we want. It won't make a difference. All we can do is not go see them. Remakes are unfortunately here to stay.
MoH Directors Return for FEAR ITSELF - Oct 20, 2007 - 07:20pm
I'm more interested in the uncut, unedited DVD versions of the new series when they come out. They should just skip putting it on NBC, and release it as a DVD series, which is what Masters of Horror was originally supposed to be.
Bond Director Set for THE BIRDS Remake - Oct 19, 2007 - 07:55am
I have to agree with NotAFan. I think they're making too many remakes of these already good movies. But as long as people go to see them, whether they're good or bad, they'll continue to make them. All kinds of remakes are on the way. We can now add The Birds to that list. But I've always been a fan of The Birds. It's my favorite Hitchcock movie.
Waters Pens EARTHLINGS For Sci-Fi - Oct 11, 2007 - 09:37am
Sounds like something, but I like the good old fashioned alien invaders who come to kill us all, take over the world, or move on to the next planet. But that was the short lived "War of the Worlds" series.
Fox Greenlights JJ Abrams' FRINGE - Oct 05, 2007 - 07:48am
"Relatable people in extraordinary situations". Isn't that exactly what Heroes is? I watched a little of the X-Files, and Nightmare at 20,000 Feet has always been my favorite Twilight Zone episode. Putting those shows together with Altered States sounds like something. We'll have to wait and see.
JT Petty Ready for GOTH Hunt - Oct 03, 2007 - 06:52am
The Burrowers isn't his first movie. There's a movie he did called Mimic 3: Sentinel. It wasn't released in theaters, but doesn't that still count as a movie?
Starz Unveils FEAR FEST Lineup - Sep 26, 2007 - 07:31am
Except for the Bloodsucking Cinema special, those are movies that have been showing on Starz for months. They do this every year. I want to see stuff that hasn't been on in a while. And speaking of horror, what the hell happened with The Horror Channel???
NBC Reworks MASTERS OF HORROR - Sep 25, 2007 - 09:19am
You're right, wessmith. I actually agree with you. I like them both equally. Lots of gore, and the scary stuff you don't see. But still, putting this series on NBC, I think, is a mistake. You guys have your opinions, and that's fine, but I'm sure someone here will side with me.
McTiernan Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison - Sep 25, 2007 - 07:43am
That's a funny one, metalwater. Saying that John McTiernan should go to jail for the Rollerball remake. I like that. But it's only four months. He might just do less time than that. Most real criminals would kill to do four months in jail.
NBC Reworks MASTERS OF HORROR - Sep 25, 2007 - 07:37am
I very much think that they're making a huge mistake wanting to put this series on NBC. That means, the episodes won't have any blood, no swear words, and everything else that made Masters of Horror such a good show. They'll be watered down copies of what they made before. Or it'll be a new version of Tales from the Darkside, if anyone here remembers that show. It can be seen on the Sci-Fi Channel. I think they're making a mistake. I'm sure my fellow Maniacs here would agree with me.
MASTERS OF HORROR: The Washingtonians - Sep 15, 2007 - 10:09am
I liked this episode when I saw it. A good horror/comedy feel to it. I especially liked the ending with George W. Bush on the new one-dollar bill. But the gore wasn't as plenty as the review says. I'd like to believe that Washington really was a cannibal, or Ben Franklin was a killer. It could very well have been true. Possiblities. Think about it.
THE TALISMAN Has Budget Concerns - Sep 13, 2007 - 07:05am
I like the T.V. versions of King's books a little more than the movie versions. My favorite has always been It. The Stand and Nightmare and Dreamscapes are good, too. The Talisman has been in development for a long time. I was waiting for this one to come out as a movie, but it never did. Whenever it finally makes it T.V., I'll be there to see it.
Kosinski Directing TRON Sequel - Sep 11, 2007 - 09:07am
I'd like to see a sequel to this movie, too, but they might have waited a little too long. It's been twenty five years since the first one came out. It's not like the Spider-Man or X-Men movies. That's a pretty long time, but I've been of fan of the first movie since before I could complain and rant and rave. And besides, this sequel probably won't be aimed at us fans who grew up in the eighties watching it. It'll be for the younger kids who've never even heard of Tron.
NBC Ready to Be TAPPED - Sep 10, 2007 - 08:55am
It sounds like something, and I'll bet it won't be limited to just religious type of people. I mean, the characters may not necessarily be priests, nuns, or God fanatics. They'll have a suicidal guy, a mob guy, an alcoholic party girl, and so on. The most unlikely ones should suddenly start receivng messages from the Almighty Him, but that's just my idea. Think it over, fellow Maniacs.
HATCHET - Sep 07, 2007 - 07:51am
I wanted to see this movie for one reason. Because it was rated NC-17 for a short time. But it's been cut down to an R rating. That actually disappointed me a little, but I'm still going to see the movie, anyway. Of course, the DVD will be "unrated" like every other horror DVD that comes out.
PRISON BREAK Season Two - Breaks for DVD - Sep 01, 2007 - 04:23pm
That's right. He did plead guilty to the crime. But they haven't said yet how much time he'll do. Maybe the same as his character on the show.
Excl: UPDATE on DARK KNIGHT Spoilers - Aug 30, 2007 - 07:22am
The movie will keep filming here until September or October. They've been here for a while already. I would have liked to have to seen this part being filmed, but I wasn't out that Saturday. But I was the next day, where I saw Gary Oldman and Christoper Nolan, getting ready to do a scene in a car right under the El tracks.
Major Spoiler of DARK KNIGHT Hits Online - Aug 29, 2007 - 07:20am
Last Sunday, I was out downtown here in Chicago. The movie's been filming here for a few months. I walk past parked trailers and guys who were either extras or teamsters. I turn down another street, and I see a small crew working. They were setting up a shot inside of a car. Christopher Nolan, the director, was there, and a few minutes later, Gary Oldman shows up. They were getting ready to film scene that he was going to be in. It was pretty neat. I wanted to yell out, really loud, his line from The Professional, where he says "Bring me everyone. EVERYONE!!!!!". But that would have got me in trouble.
Warner Bros Wants SWEENEY TODD PG-13? - Aug 27, 2007 - 06:49pm
But they could very well do that, just to get teens and young people to see the movie. If it's rated R, I'll definitely go to see it. If not, then I'll skip it.
POPEYE THE SAILOR Volume One 1933 - 1938 - Aug 26, 2007 - 07:40am
I love the Popeye cartoons. It was one of my favorite cartoons growing up in the early and mid eighties, then into the nineties, and now today. I don't have this DVD at the moment, but I know virtually every cartoon short from memory. I don't know if I can choose one particular favorite. I like that the DVD box says the cartoons are for adult collectors and not suitable for kids. The Woody Woodpecker set has the exact same thing on it. I definitely count as an adult collector now. So, as I said before, Popeye is one of my favorites cartoons of all. I'll buy the DVD, when it goes down in price.
INDIANA JONES 4 Update: New Video - Aug 13, 2007 - 06:47pm
One of those six titles could be the actual title they use for the movie. I like Quest for the Covenant. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sounds a little too Saturday matinee. But I think Quest for the Covenant should be the title.
Andrew Currie to Launch SPACE INVADER - Aug 10, 2007 - 07:38am
So, it's not based on the great Space Invaders game of the 80's. That's too bad. Alien invasion movies are one of my favorites.
PUNISHER 2 Gets A New Title & Start Date - Aug 09, 2007 - 07:45pm
What happened to Thomas Jane starring and Jonathan Hensleigh writing and directing? I liked the this movie a lot more than the one with Dolph Lungren. But if neither Thomas Jane or Jonathan Hensleigh are doing it, then I'm not interested. Lexi Alexander directed a movie called Green Street Hooligans, about soccer hooligans, and why they're such a great group of people.
John Moore Adapts VIRULENTS Comic - Aug 07, 2007 - 07:03am
And who's the actual leader of the zombie vampires? None other than Osama himself. Of course, I'm just making a joke, but that
could happen. Couldn't it?
Full Cast for Shyamalan's HAPPENING - Aug 05, 2007 - 01:27pm
I like The Village, too. It wasn't my intention to make it sound like I didn't. I'm a fan of his movies. I like them a lot. I have all his movies on DVD, except for The Village. It's a cheapie movie by now. I guess I can go out and get it along with Evil Dead 1 and 2.
Full Cast for Shyamalan's HAPPENING - Aug 05, 2007 - 07:36am
Because of The Village and Lady in the Water, we can now say that Shyamalan's kind of fallen from grace, but I don't think so. The Village wasn't really a genre movie, but Lady in the Water was. I think this one is going to be good. We just have to wait and find out.
Rodriguez, Lang Join Cameron's AVATAR - Aug 03, 2007 - 06:22am
I've wondered why has it taken so long for Cameron to get another movie made after Titanic. The highest grossing movie of '97, eleven Oscars, and not another movie made since then. Until now, that is. But I like Michelle Rodriguez. I like some of the stuff she's done. If any fellow Maniac wants to make fun of me because of that, you're more than welcome to.
Chase, Shawn, Gottfried & Sagal Join BEANSTALK - Aug 01, 2007 - 02:43pm
I've been liked the Jack and the Beanstalk story since I was little, and all the different parodies made since. My favorties will always be the Woody Woodpecker cartoon "Woody the Giant Killer, which is on the Woody Woodpecker DVD, and "Mickey and the Beanstalk", a cartoon shown with some TV versions of Dumbo. Those two are my most favorites.
Francis Directs Live Action SNOW WHITE - Aug 01, 2007 - 02:33pm
It's going to be a modern take, though the 19th century isn't so modern. Francis Lawrence was a music video director. I've seen the videos he's done. I didn't care much for them. Constantine was okay, but I might want to see I Am Legend, because I liked the Charleton Heston version. So, if I see the movie, it won't be because of the director, or even Will Smith, but for the movie itself.
Kevin Smith to Direct HEROES Episode - Jul 28, 2007 - 05:40pm
Kevin Smith is a big comic book fanboy himself, having written for Darevdevil and some others, so it makes a lot of sense that he's going to do the Heroes spinoff show. And we shouldn't be so suprised if he appears in the episode, or Jason Mewes, or the two Clerks guys. That might not be such a long shot. Think about it, fellow Maniacs.
SAW IV First Cut Gets NC-17 - Jul 27, 2007 - 06:31am
The movie will get its R rating. They're making it sound like it's going to be this big deal, but it won't be. There's a movie coming out in the fall called Hatchet. It had an NC-17 for a little while, until they made cuts, and got an R. Saw IV will have cuts made to get the R rating they need to get the young kids in the theater. I, myself, don't plan on seeing this one, so it makes no difference.
Proyas to Direct SILVER SURFER? - Jul 25, 2007 - 07:19am
I liked The Crow myself, but I've only seen a little bit of Dark City. I, Robot was okay, and I saw some of Garage Days, but didn't know what to make of it. The Silver Surfer movie's been in development for years, but the reason it's coming close to being made is because of the FF sequel. The one character I would like to see in the movie is Thanos. I always liked him from the comics.
TRICK 'R TREAT Back in October - Jul 19, 2007 - 08:25am
I want to see this one, too, snallygaster. When I heard they changed the release date, I thought that was steaming pile of crap. But it's good they moved it back to October, at least for now, until they decide to move it to the Summer of '08.
Avary & Gans Skip SILENT HILL 2 - Jul 19, 2007 - 08:20am
I have to agree with you, BryanWay. And it's funny you mentioned wanting to be hired as the screenwriter. I would write Silent Hill 2 tomorrow if I were the guy doing it, and I would stay pretty close to the game's story, because I like it so much.
Hollywood Studios Ponder Future Franchises - Jul 10, 2007 - 09:18am
It's really just all about the box office numbers. Jaws was the first. Star Wars came next, and so on. As long as these franchise movies make the money they're intended to, then the franchises, each one of them, will continue. Though I think a Spider-Man Part 12 might be pushing it a bit.And that might not be such a long shot. It could very well happen. But I like the Spider-Man movies. I saw all three Pirates movies. FF2 was very good. It really comes down to the money they make. The movie franchises will continue as long we moviegoers keep going to see them. I, myself, really like going to see the summer movies.
No CGI in INDY IV - Jul 05, 2007 - 03:52pm
It doesn't really matter much to me. The movie will be good. If it's made the old fashioned way, or even with CG effects. But I've always been a huge fan of special effects in movies. Like the six Star Wars movies, all fifteen Star Trek movies, and all the others. And in case someone wants to correct me, there were "ten" Star Trek movies, not fifteen. That part was a joke.
George A. Romero Updates His DIARY - Jul 04, 2007 - 07:54am
It sounds like Diary will be better than Land of the Dead, though Land one was only okay. Romero's other Dead movies were good because they were independent. If you look back at most horror movies made since the the original Night of the Living Dead, the real good ones were made independently, not by the studios. The only way to really make your movie your way is to either be George Lucas or be independent.
Casting troubles For WATCHMEN? - Jul 03, 2007 - 02:18pm
It's no wonder this movie's had so much trouble getting to the screen. Will all those real life people be in the movie? They could either get actors to play them, or try using real footage through the magic of CG effects, like Forrest Gump. But that's a long shot.
Agron & Keating Join HEROES - Jul 03, 2007 - 07:36am
These two new characters, along with the other seven, and the returning actors from the first season, it looks like there might be too many people in the new season. But they're probably all going to be supporting characters, with the original ones still leading the new season. Either way, I'm waiting for the show to come back, and the spin off show whenever it airs.
Extended Glimpse At SUNSHINE - Jun 30, 2007 - 08:16am
Wasn't this one supposed to come out last fall/winter? Or that's what IMDB said, but for some movies, the studios like to change the release dates. And even when the movies do come out, nobody cares because the release dates have been shuffled back and forth like IPod music.
New Ending Shot For HALLOWEEN? - Jun 30, 2007 - 08:11am
Will the ending be anything like the lawnmower scene at the end of Dead Alive? If it is, I'm already there. I'm already waiting at the theater. But seriously, if the movie is now going to be bloody and gory, that sounds like fun. But Black Sheep still isn't showing here yet, the one movie I've been waiting to see.
Lt. Gordon's Family Set For BATMAN - Jun 28, 2007 - 12:54pm
The Dark Knight is still filming parts here in Chicago. They'll be here until September or October. I haven't seen any film crews or anything like that, but I would like to see the Batmobile driving around. That would be pretty cool.
New Line Looking For CONAN - Jun 28, 2007 - 07:52am
How about Michael Bay? He might be a long shot, but.... of course I'm kidding. Why not get John Milius, the director of the original. That's also a long shot, but better than getting some music video or commercial shooter.
LaBeouf Set For EAGLE EYE? - Jun 26, 2007 - 07:03am
He must be good enough, if Spielberg is putting him in the fourth Indy movie. But will this movie by like Sleeper Cell, the series on Showtime?
8 Minutes to DIE HARD For - Jun 21, 2007 - 08:14am
I think it might be a mistake to release this movie with a PG-13 rating. Look at the last three movies. Each one was rated R. Why give the newest movie a different rating? The original Die Hard was almost famous for its bloody shootings and rampant curse words. I'm all for PG-13 movies, and even a few PG movies in the middle, but I think some movies need to be rated R.
Forster to Guide Bond 22 - Jun 19, 2007 - 03:41pm
I liked Casino Royale. But I think all the Bond movies are good, regardless of who directed them. Martin Campbell's not doing this one because he has some other movies lined up. But I think Marc Forster is a good choice to do the new movie.
Disney Has Their SAMURAI - Jun 19, 2007 - 07:35am
How about this. Tim Allen as the American business man, and Wesley Snipes as the samurai. It's a long shot, but you never know.
THE $40,000 MAN - Better, Stronger, Faster... Cheaper - Jun 19, 2007 - 07:28am
Let's hope New Line doesn't check out this site and read the comments. Because then they'll get the same idea and actually cast Will Ferrell.
Surfer Flies Into A Fantastic Weekend - Jun 18, 2007 - 06:45am
Message for Snallygaster: Hey, I guess you're right about that. There are more than a "FEW" movies left. But I stand by my comment. I still say there are a "FEW" left. The ones that I listed there. A "FEW" movies left. Feel free to keep correcting me a "FEW" more times, because I'm sure I'll have a "FEW" more mistakes in my comments.
Surfer Flies Into A Fantastic Weekend - Jun 17, 2007 - 08:25pm
I think FF2 was better than the first. And the eighty-nine minute running time really helped, too. So now, there are only a few summer movies left. Live Free or Die Hard, The Simpsons, and Transformers. But the one movie I want to see is Black Sheep, and I don't think it's going to be shown here in Chicago. If not, I'll have to settle for 1408 instead.
Steven Spielberg - Jun 17, 2007 - 12:21pm
You can't say anything negative about Spielberg. Whether you're a film buff, student, or plain hater. You just can't. He's one of the best directors working now and even back then. In the 70's, he wanted to direct Superman, but he wasn't a bankable director, because Jaws hadn't been released.
I, too, would like to see a comic book movie made by Spielberg. But as I stated before, he's one of the best. Of all of his movies, the only one I've never seen is Sugarland Express. But every other one, even 1941, are some of my favorite movies. And his last movie, Munich, really suprised me, because it's like nothing he's done before. I think Interstellar will be good, and the Abraham Lincoln movie, too. And Indy 4. Almost forgot that one.
FIDO - Jun 15, 2007 - 09:18am
I've known about this one for a while. Though the movie's PG-13, there's still some bloody parts in it. At least that's what I saw in the trailers. But I think I'll check this one out either way.
Goyer Sees New INVISIBLE MAN - Jun 14, 2007 - 08:42am
I haven't seen the original Invisible Man movie in years. I remember
the special effects, which were high tech for its time. But this new movie sounds like it might be good, and if David Goyer is both writing and directing, it should be good.
Elfman Will Settle Score With HELLBOY - Jun 09, 2007 - 06:41pm
I've been a fan of his music, too, since the first Batman. He had a falling out with Sam Raimi, and that's why only his themes are used in Spider-Man 3. I'm sure the score for Hellboy 2 will be pretty good if he's doing it.
Story Agrees With LOSERS - Jun 09, 2007 - 06:38pm
I think you can say he's a good director, but he's not really a visualist type, like Ridley Scott or Guillermo del Toro. He's probably more of an actor's director, but if he's being hired to do another comic book movie, it's because of FF and FF2. The studios like to hire the guys who can pull off comic book movies, whether they're good or bad.
I AM LEGEND Poster - Jun 08, 2007 - 08:59am
I might see this one when it comes out. I liked second remake, too. The Omega Man, with Charleton Heston. That's the one the Simpson's parodied for one of their Halloween episodes. But I've never seen the original movie that the book is based on, The Last Man on Earth, with Vincent Price.
New Line Pushes Ahead with KONG Project - Jun 05, 2007 - 08:08am
I thought this one would be another video game movie, but it's based on that documentory that's not even out yet. If they were going to do an adaptation of the actual game, it should probably be done as a CG animated movie, but that's just what I think.
Pirates Sail to Top Spot Again - Jun 03, 2007 - 04:07pm
Like Spiderman 3, Pirates: At Worlds End will probably make about 300 million when it's finally done. Then there's Hostel Part II, which may or may not be number one, but will, of course, have a big opening. Then Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Ratatouille, Transformers, and so. Even if those movies don't make number one, they'll still probably make a lot of money each.
MR. BROOKS - Jun 01, 2007 - 06:56am
I got to see the movie at an advance screening Thursday night. I liked it very much. It really is a serial killer movie more based on character than on cool, bloody killings, like the Saw movies. Coster is good in it, and it is some of his best work in a while. The review put it better than I can.
Rogue Becomes INFESTED - May 31, 2007 - 09:32am
Right you be, snallygaster. There are two movies called Infested on IMDB. And right again you be. Movie titles have been used for other movies in the past. Examples include Bad Company, Man of the House,
Black Sheep, and so on.
Rogue Becomes INFESTED - May 31, 2007 - 06:39am
Isn't there a movie called Infested? It was a staight to DVD movie, made by the same guy who wrote the adaptation of Cronenberg's movie, A History of Violence. Check IMDB, and a have a look and see.
