5 Movies that Ripped Off Comics (Article) - 8/13/2009 2:52:39 AM

Nice article.

The Matrix is clearly a rip-off of Invisibles with some bits og Ghost in the Shell thrown in. I had the impression that recently Morrison was paid something to stop complaining about that.

And Robocop was clearly influenced by the Dark Knight, the similarities are so evident.

I would have mentioned also Star Wars that borrowed materials from so many different sources, the New Gods among them.

Valley wants CAPTAIN AMERICA (Article) - 8/7/2009 7:14:29 AM

Mark Valley may be a bit too old to be Captain America. On the other hand he's pitch perfect as Martin Mystere (or Mystery in the Dark Horse version).

Would he be in two different comic-book franchises?

4 Must Have SPIDER-MAN 4 Villains and Who Should Play Them (Article) - 7/16/2009 5:56:58 AM

Fun, even if Campbell had been rumored as Mysterio years ago, Kingley was Raimi's n°1 choice for the Vulture when the character was supposed to be in S-M 3 and well, Baker is Connors.  So nothing really original here.

FEAR AGENT Rockets to Universal (Article) - 7/14/2009 8:58:44 AM

Guys, with Gondry in the director's chair, they could have had Jack Black as Green Hornet and I would have paid the ticket happily anyway.

WiseGuy, I was not joking about Superman fighting with Wonder Woman and Batman. The script for the JL movie was based on the Sacrifice and Omac Project storylines.

As Warner will be forced to start pre-production on a Superman movie before the end of 2011, why not revive the project that had most everything in place, a director, a script, fully designed costumes and sets?

The Justice League movie could be a good way to "reintroduce" the character as a kick-ass superhero, who beats the crap out of Batman, Wonder Woman (under Lord's mind control) and a whole army of OMACs.

According to Gregory Noveck, one of the few people who really read the scripts, the latest draft was very good.

They only need to replace the John Stewart Green Lantern with Hal Jordan, who would have been introduced in the GL movie. And they could have Routh, the GL actor and maybe Bale (who's contractually signed to be Batman in a third movie) if Nolan decides he won't do another sequel. Otherwise they could cast Jon Hamm as Batman.

You know, the much criticized Dan Girloy script for Tim Burton's Superman Lives wasn't really that bad.

It built on Kevin Smith script based on the "Death of Superman" storyline, adding a prologue very similar to the Krypton scenes used by Geoff Johns in some recent Superman stories. And Kevin Spacey as Luthiac would have been fun.

The PG-13 rating for Dead of Night is still not a sure thing. Dan Forcey on the movie blog says they're editing the movie not caring about the final rating. And let's remember that "Drag me to hell" is a good PG-13 horror movie...
