First Look: Jodie Foster in Elysium

Sci-Fi Secretary

By Robert T. Trate     January 30, 2013

Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9) long awaited next project, Elysium,  finally has some new images hitting the internet. Check out these Sci-Fi pictures of Jodi Foster as Secretary Rhodes. Is that an ear attachment or just a futuristic ear piece? I’ve included the first picture of Matt Damon from back in July below as well.

The Plot: In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government ofď¬cial, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Elysium arrives August 9th, 2013

For a second there I thought Foster had shaved her head

Neill Blomkamp is obviously heavily influenced by apartheid, who wouldn't that lived in that country. That's 2 films broaching a similar subject.

That second picture of Foster looks like it's animated like the Final Fantasy movie for some reason.

Reminds me of a poster from THX 1138.

Blomkamp bought my loyalty with "District 9".

Not sure I'm overly enthused by the premise of "Elysium", but I trust I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Neill Blomkamp's District 9 was an amazing sci-fi film and applaud him additionally for keeping a budget of only $30 million yet it looked like he did it for $100 million or more!  This new feature of his has a lot to live up to since the success of District 9 and hope he succeeds with that both commercially and especially as a movie.

Got to see some rough footage of this film a couple weeks ago. Film definately has an "Escape from... " feel.

I like this photo- Damon looking like Liotta a'la "No Escape".
