Box Office: DARK KNIGHT Takes Down The Pineapple - Aug 10, 2008 - 06:08pm
All the inflation does is make the current ticket price adhere to all movies, what it doesn't take into account is would people still paid 8 to 10 bucks a ticket to see it? Prolly not, so the number of tickets would be lower for all older movies. Also something the inflation list doesn't do is take into account the economy right now we are in a recession. If anything The fact that the Dark Knight might beat Titanic is nothing short of amazing. That inflation list is a cool idea, but like I said people don't wouldn't have spent 50 dollars back then to take the family to the movies plus all the snacks and crap. Also with people being able to use the internet to obtain movies illegal, the numbers of newer movies does in someway suffer. Goatartist is right too about the gas, when Titanic came out I bet gas was somewhere around a dollar a gallon.
SDCC: Sam Raimi Ready For EVIL DEAD 4 - Jul 27, 2008 - 10:36am
Even if Raimi wants to do a fourth one, there is no guarantee that Bruce Campbell will come back for it. I love the series as a cult classic, but this is an old tune that keeps getting played every so often.
Also have you seen Campbell lately? He's not in the best of shape when I see those commercials for "Burn Notice", is he comitted to getting into some shape for this film?
Darren Aronofsky Leading ROBOCOP - Jul 25, 2008 - 07:33am
I don't remember when she is completely nude, I do recall though the whole "ass to ass" moment with Keith David and all the other guys in the room.
Darren Aronofsky Leading ROBOCOP - Jul 25, 2008 - 01:36am
I don't mind a new Robocop, but calling Aronofsky and Self two of the best storytellers is a little much. I admit that Aronofsky did great work with "Requiem for a Dream", but thats pretty much it on his list and Self wrote "Road to Perdition" which was a good movie, but nothing that I'd consider the guy who wrote it one of the best. All things aside I'm sure it will be a decent movie, I mean Aronofsky and Self would have to suck something fierce not to beat "Robocop 2 and 3".
The Manic Maniac: Agents of Chaos, Agents of Change - Jul 24, 2008 - 05:25am
I agree with Silver, you could never trust the Joker, he constantly lied about his past. The Joker knew that Batman was going to try and save Rachel hence why he lied and gave him Harvey's location instead. The Joker wanted Harvey to lose Rachel, no matter what Rachel was going to die. The Joker never had intentions that Harvey would become disfigured, but he knew Harvey cared deeply about Rachel. We know this bc in the room he tells Batman that he really did think Harvey was Batman bc of the way he threw himself after her. Joker knew once Harvey lost Rachel, he could corrupt him thus turning Harvey "The White Knight" into a bad guy and destroying Gotham's hope. Like Gordon said, the Joker wanted to get caught, obivously so wuertz could kidnap Harvey and allow them to choose who to save.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 23, 2008 - 10:20am
Well you have two options, hanso, you can either believe that people have put wrong information in wikipedia...OR Joel Schmacher was stupid enough to conceive some of those whacked job ideas. I vote the latter, I hate Joel Schmacher for what he did to Batman. If we didn't have Nolan to rectify the mistakes made, that's all we would've had to remember Batman by.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 23, 2008 - 09:25am
Honestly, I'd hate for them to recast the Joker, but I've given it a lot of thought and the only person I'd want to play the Joker again is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Just look at his photo on Imdb.com http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0330687/ and don't tell me that he doesn't look like Heath. It's kinda scary how much he resembles Heath. He'd have to put on a little weight, but Gordon-Levitt is an incredible actor, just watch "Brick". They're also extremely close in age.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 23, 2008 - 09:13am
I understand that he allowed him to die, but Batman never killed Ducard, he just opted not to save him. Batman not saving Ducard doesn't make him a murderer. Batman's intent was to destroy the train and the microwave emitter thus saving Gotham from Crane's poison. If Batman would've taken that "Bat ninja star" and actually pushed it into Ducard, then yes, he would have become a murderer.
As like Joker, Ducard wanted Wayne to kill him, so that he could prove his point. Ducard's point was to fight evil, you must do all that is necessary to stop evil, and that even meant that if you had to kill in the name of justice so be it.
I understand what your saying about him not saving him is as good as killing him, but thats dealing with the matter in a subjective way and allowing opinion to factor the decision.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 23, 2008 - 07:54am
SpoilersThis is easily the best comic book adaptation ever made! Yes, it's sad that Batman became the villian, but thats what Gotham needed from him. Gotham needed a villain to pin the Dent killings on, so Batman made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that his city doesn't fall to the Joker's vision, that is the true price to pay for what you believe in. Without the Dent storyline, the movie is nothing, Dent was the "White Knight". He was the symbol of Gotham that Batman could never be, Joker corrupted that, he brought him down to his level. If the city would've found out that Dent killed those people, everything that was done to clean the streets would've been undone and Gotham's faith would've been lost. Batman had to become the villian, not bc he wanted to, but bc he needed to. That was what Gotham needed to survive. Yes, it would've been nice for Gotham to have a hero like Batman, but it didn't need it right now. Like Alfred said, "Endure, Master Wayne. Take it. He'll hate you for it. But that's the point of Batman, he can be the outcast. He can make the choice that no one else can make, the righteous." And thats what Batman did he made the righteous choice, not the one for self glory.Batman never killed Henri Ducard, but he didn't save him either, Ducard died bc of his own doing. There is a difference between allowing someone to die and actually killing them. Batman threw Joker off that building, which means that Batman would've been responsible for Joker's death, and Joker would've won and corrupted Batman. Batman had rules, he can't be an executioner, his compassion is what separates him from the villains. Throwing the Joker off the building and letting him fall to his death is becoming an executioner and ultimately losing his compassion and succumbing to the Joker hence why he had to save him.
Update: DARK KNIGHT Grabs Third Record - Jul 20, 2008 - 06:13am
Batman's only fantasy element was always the fact that it was a man in a costume, even when he first debuted the only thing he was, was a detective. Why should we always watch comic book heroes be impervious to human emotions? I know I don't especially Batman, he's the only hero that a person can actually relate to, he doesn't rely on super strength or the ability to move at ligthning speeds. He is just ordinary like the rest of us, he shouldn't be able to avoid inner demons. The Dark Knight was a great film and my only gripe is that so many comic book movies don't work like this one, Spidey 2 touched it and Iron man came close, but nothing like "The Dark Knight". I know that Heath deserves an oscar nomination, and Gary Oldman was just so incredible. You can totally tell that when Oldman acts, he treats it like an actual craft, as if he is taking a paint brush to a blank canvas and just making beautiful art. The only tragedy of this movie is that Heath will never get to repraise his role as the Joker. I just don't know how Nolan can do better than this movie, Nolan is one of the best directors of our time.Marvel has had good success with most of their comic book adaptations, but DC beats them just bc of how well made the Batman movies are. Joker isn't like Lecter in the fact he isn't a cannible, but The Joker creates the same mind games and creates moral and ethic dilemmas that are very disturbing. I'd definitely say The Joker is more insane, forcing people to play a human version of battleships is up there.
THE DARK KNIGHT: The Joker's Wild! - Jul 18, 2008 - 02:10am
Some people just don't get it, Aaron was nowhere near as good as Heath in this movie. Every seen Heath owned, he remade Joker and I loved it. Heath's Joker was everything that Nicholson's was minus the campy plus everything that Nicholson's wishes. I liked Batman by Tim Burton, but what you fail to realize is that Batman is an ordinary man who lives in a "realistic" world. There wasn't no vat of chemicals to make you into a villian, it's just the nature of the man w/ paint on his face. If you feel that this Batman wasn't as good as "Batman", then you are just looking to hard for flaws bc you don't want to let go of a Tim Burton movie. I've seen both and by no means does Burton's Batman have such moral dilemmas do deal with, I couldn't believe how much Wayne had to take or better of terms "Endure". He had to make a decisions that affected the city he loved so much and ultimately would affect him. This Batman movie was the best so far and prolly won't ever get trumped, 2 1/2 hrs? you wouldn't have known, the movie's story is so enthralling that it's sad so many movies in Hollywood can't even have 30 mins of quality story. Burton's film was good, I liked it a lot, but to say that this one wasn't as good is just sheer ignorance. Your entitled to your opinion, but make no mistake about it when it comes down to it this will be the best batman movie ever produced and the critics will agree. If Heath doesn't atleast get a nomination for this movie, then that would biggest tragedy of this movie. He was incredible, for the first time, I was actually scared of a comic book villian.
Notafan, your a scrub.
Cohen and Paramount Remaking MONSTER SQUAD - Jul 16, 2008 - 05:44pm
Wiseguy, have you ever seen "The Monster Squad"? "The Monster Squad" is a cult classic, it's a fun movie to watch as a kid, but it's constantly overshadowed by "The Goonies". Even if it isn't as good as "Van Helsing" (which would be sad), your still comparing apples and oranges. "The Monster Squad" is an adventure/comedy, while "Van Helsing" was an action movie with awful CGI and tried too hard to be an epic movie. I understand "Van Helsing" incoporated all the famous monsters, but that is just bc the screenwriter sucked and took "Van Helsing" in such a horrible direction. Why the hell would Van Helsing fight Mr. Hyde? It doesn't even make sense, they tried to make Van Helsing a superhero and that was completely stupid.
Bale Will Bail if Robin Shows in KNIGHT Sequel - Jul 03, 2008 - 03:14pm
It's already been stated that chris isn't going to use robin in any of the batman movies.
Here's a link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/faq#.2.1.34
New DARK KNIGHT Trailer, New Villain for Third Film? - Jun 30, 2008 - 10:23pm
In the third film, I wouldn't mind Two-face as the main villian and Catwoman as the new love interest something similar to Batman Returns but with a fresh take. Catwoman was prolly the second best villian in the burton/schumacher series, Michelle did a great job with that character. I always said that if you take the penguin out of Batman Returns, the film would have been SO much better, not that it was bad, but not great either. I also just bought my Original Teaser Poster at ebay.com the nice 27x40 and it's double-sided of course.
Hulk Fight Breakdown: Norton vs. Universal - Jun 15, 2008 - 02:11pm
"The Incredible Hulk" was not as "Incredible" as some of you say, I saw it on Friday and felt that it was okay. If anything both "Hulk" movies have been subpar, Ang Lee's "Hulk" has always been criticized for being garbage, but I'll say this atleast there was character development. "The Incredible Hulk" was so much covered in action that the characters never had time to develop. I'm sorry but I side with Norton, he potentially saved this movie with making revisions to Zak Penn's script, and Penn isn't that good of a screenwriter to begin with, for example "Fanastic Four", "X3", and "Elektra". Marvel should've let Norton have a little more control in the final cut, we're talking about a guy that has worked on movies such as "Fight Club", "Rounders", "The Red Dragon", and "American History-X". What has Louis Leterrier done? Transporter? Come on! Transporter was good, but it's just like the same problems with "Transformers" we're suppose to sit for 2 hrs and watch all action scenes. I'd like some more dialogue with this Hulk movie, and I truly believe that Norton would have given it to us. As far as the summer goes, yes "Iron Man" was great, "Hellboy 2" should be good, and "The Dark Knight" should be a no-brainer, but I can't in good conscious say this Hulk movie was one of the best superhero adaptations I've ever seen. If any movie I predict that can be a great superhero movie, I'd say "Hancock" might impress a lot of people.
First Look at the New Jason VOORHEES - Jun 13, 2008 - 10:32pm
I wonder what next horror movie Hollywood will destroy? They should remake "Phantasm" or "Nightmare on Elm Street", seriously some movies shouldn't be remade even if Hollywood is fresh-out of orginality.
Xbox's BIOSHOCK Hitting PS3?? - May 23, 2008 - 05:26pm
Xbox is prolly the best console for an adult hands down, you get the best selection from Xbox. Scy is right there really hasn't been anything great on Sony. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that Sony had a lot of third party support with they're second system and now they pretty much lost all of it. Even though Sony has lost all that third party support, Microsoft had very little aswell. Where Microsoft kicks the crap out of Sony is in first party games like Halo 3, Crackdown, Mass Effect (although Bioware got bought by E.A.), and Too Human soon. Microsoft also has games like Gears which I'm sure they own the rights too even though Epic works on it, and they had Bioshock for what? prolly a year before Sony gets it's hands on it? The Downloadable Content on the Xbox Marketplace is extremely hard to compete against, Sony has tried to play catch up to Microsoft, but the whole "Live" thing has been up for so many years that they have it done now. The other advantage is that Microsoft launched they're console so much earlier that people only had one way to experience HD console gaming. Another problem with the PS3 is they tried so hard to sell this system with all this "stuff" that the casual gamer just wasn't interested in hence why people turned to the Xbox since it was a lot cheaper. You also have to play into the fact that they're very few games that are even designed for the PS3 since it is such a pain, most game developers (even ones at Valve) have said they won't do it, so most games are getting designed on the Xbox and just get ported to the PS3. Most games don't even get the full benefits from being played on a PS3.
MISSION Not So Impossible? - May 07, 2008 - 04:36pm
I now how much people hate Uwe boll especially people who like their favorite video games made into horseshit movies. I was just on Teamxbox.com when I saw an article pertaining to Uwe, apparently a site "Stopuweboll.org" was created and if the petition reaches a 1,000,000 signatures he said he will stop making video game adaptations. If that ain't enough apparently "Stride" gum has gotten involved stating that if people can make the million marker they will give out a free pack of gum to each person who signs the petition.http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/16444/Stopping-Uwe-Boll-1-Million-Packs-of-Free-Gum/
And The Oscar Goes To... - Feb 25, 2008 - 02:37am
Sonyman, are you blind? I'm asking bc I can't believe someone would be dumb enough to actual think a movie that was built on visual effects (and good ones mind you) didn't deserve to win. I don't understand how a cgi bear beats out a transformer that has so many pieces that has to be put together otherwise the vehicle and the transformer vary in mass and in composition. Bourne shouldn't have won either, I'll say this when it comes to Bay he knows visual effects and sound, just goes to show you nothing is certain in the oscars. Found it puzzling that Julie Christie and Amy Ryan didn't win either that's just frosting on the cake. Would love to see a Comedy win best picture, it's been said once and it will be said a million more times...Comedies are harder to write than Dramas. I did love "No Country for Old Men," but I thought "Juno" was just that much better. Oh and Sonyman, it's good to know that there is one moron's post that can I tear apart. I mean common, if you don't like Spielberg fine, but don't be a blithering idiot. Your just one of the many that has to come on these forums and throw around your insults and think your funny as a result of it. I'd like to know how the transformers looked like pigs? I can understand that gmc was heavily advertisized, but how the hell does that have any bearing on the CGI??? LOL
Update: Quaid, Vosloo & Tatum Confirmed For G.I JOE - Jan 29, 2008 - 10:36am
This is extremely disappointing, I thought there was a strong rumor that Wahlberg was going to play "Duke?" Mark would have been 100x better for "Duke."
Jackson Explains 'Not' Directing THE HOBBIT - Dec 20, 2007 - 04:15am
I'd wait for Jackson. I've lost trust in Raimi after Spider-man 3 and I just don't think he is the best possible choice at this point anymore, but if I did have to choose somebody it would diffently be Del Toro. After Pan's Labyrinth, he would be a great choice over Raimi. Although, I would still prefer to wait for Jackson, just bc of how the first 3 films were done, I don't want anyone else.
DARK KNIGHT Trailer Officially Hits the Web - Dec 18, 2007 - 02:56am
Okay I just sat here and read nine pages of comments, and boy is it sad to see some people try and argue their points. Metalwater is fine, although I completely disagree with him. The Joker was represented how long in that trailer? like 30 secs of the 2 mins? with some dialogue. I'll tell you what though from those 2 mins I got a man that is insane, cold, arrogant, and reckless and to me that is "The Joker." The Joker is never going to have an intelligent conversation with Batman, why? Because Joker would never show that side to Wayne, the only thing the Joker would ever do to Wayne is get inside his head and tear away any control Wayne has over himself so that Wayne would go crazy, we see some of that in the trailer. You can tell Wayne is distrought in his voice when he asks Alfred, "What would you have me do?" and if we really wanted to argue a point to metalwater wouldn't it be that dialogue with Wayne in the beginning of the trailer when The Joker can identify that they're both abnormal in their own ways and we also see a great portrayal of The Joker's brilliance and pscyhotic ways in the prologue, we see a man so sinister that he sets up the entire robbery and then sets up the robbers. I mean if that ain't intelligent then I don't know what is anymore.
As far as theCOLLECTOR, you need to just shut up man, I read your comments and there was no rational thought put into any of it. Your just a troll, a person who comes to these sites to get a rise out of anyone by any which means possible. Your attitude is extremely childlike and completely obnoxious. If you were to bring your points up in a way that was coherent to an adult then maybe I wouldn't be so hard on you, but the fact remains that all you did was over-analyize a prologue (bad quality nonetheless bc I know you didn't see it in the IMAX). It's a movie about a guy who dresses up as a bat, did you forget about that? It's also an action film aswell, to expect elements of the surreal is real. Why do two guys hang from a rope in the middle of broad daylight? bc there going to cut the line of bank's silent alarm. Why does the bank manager speak like a mobster? bc the bank holds all the city's mobster money. Why does the bus crash into the building? bc it's an action movie and it makes what the Joker says funny (that was for you by the way metalwater.) Check out the Prologue.
Five Minutes of CLOVERFIELD Online - Dec 15, 2007 - 08:43pm
I hate to break it you guys but its all shaky cam, we have two pieces of evidence:
Plot Summary: Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.
Second, after J.J. does his little intro, the next is a statement issued that following was retrieved from a video camera (paraphrased), and I'm pretty sure in that scene those are the main characters since the dialogue is about a guy leaving town.
New BATSUIT Photo Appears on CineLive - Dec 10, 2007 - 06:23am
LOL, that was a great image, now I have a face to put with both of them everytime. I've been a part of mania for a long time, sometimes you get really good opinions and other times you get people that are persistent to make complete asses out of themselves. To theCOLLECTOR, stop antagonizing him and to LOTRSUXS, it's nice to be passionate but don't be so offensive.
New BATSUIT Photo Appears on CineLive - Dec 09, 2007 - 06:18pm
Umm...I hate to break it to you thecollector but there is nothing wrong with that teaser poster. Its actually well done, your opinion is what is, but I'm going to assume your in the minority about the poster. I don't understand how you think that he won't still be homicidal? I heard his voice in the that trailer and that laugh was cynical. I'm not going to convince you, but that suit is fine too, we saw an orgin story in Begins. The suit in the first one was a technically a prototype, are we to assume he hasn't modernized the suit? The suit gives me the feel of a batman that is more agile, more of a stealther, a ninja so to say. Which fits well with this Batman since half the first movie was about him training in a dojo. There is always naysayers, but I'm going to go to ebay to buy the theatrical poster, that is very good job, I love the whole vandalism of the Batman sign with the blood smile. The tagline is further indication that the Joker is still the same aswell, a cracked out homicidal maniac. Christopher Nolan has never let me done i.e. "Insomnia, Memento, Batman Begins" He knows how to deliver a story with a good dialogue.
Jack Nicholson Talks About Nolan's JOKER - Nov 08, 2007 - 04:05am
So, Daforce, I know you just didn't say that Jack hasn't taken a challenging role in 40 years bc if you did then you have lost all credibility on this site. I'm going to list a long list of movies and this is basically going to burn you down: The Departed, About Schimdt (nominated for an Oscar,) As Good as it Gets (won an Oscar,) A Few Good Men (nominated for an Oscar,) Hoffa, Batman, Ironweed (nominated for an Oscar,) Prizzi's Honor (nominated for an Oscar,) Terms of Endearment (won an Oscar,) Reds (nominated for an Oscar,) The Shining, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (won an Oscar,) Chinatown (nominated for an Oscar,) Five Easy Pieces (nominate for an Oscar,) Easy Rider (nominated for an Oscar,) and the The Last Detail (nominated for an Oscar.) If you do not like him then say that, but to basically describe him as a shitty actor just makes you look dumb as hell.
Raimi Insists Jackson Should Do HOBBIT - Oct 17, 2007 - 03:08am
Prays to the cine-gods, "Please! Allow New Line to rectify their past mistakes and make sure that they get Jackson to do the Hobbit." Cine-Amen! Whatever is left to talk about over this money issue, New Line needs to make sure they cater to Peter in every way. It's apparent if they fix all broken bridges with Jackson they could easily get over a 300 million grossed movie in the hobbit. I mean common, pay the man and let's see this done. I know talks have be going better, but I want Jackson directing and not Raimi, and the only way I see Jackson directing is if New Line handles this situation with great care and respect.
HALLOWEEN Slashes Labor Day Record - Sep 03, 2007 - 07:23pm
I'm so tired of this Franchise already. Its clear that the "Halloween" saga has been decimated, but Hollywood won't stop beating the dead horse. First they make sequels that got progessively worse until it got so bad that they thought to remake the first one and then they fucked up that one to now. The best thing that can be done to save the "Halloween" franchise is maybe a limited re-release of the orginial during the Halloween weekend, that way people of a younger generation can actually see what "Halloween" started out as. This franchise has suffered enough already, hollywood needs to stop torturing it and trying to squeeze every little penny out of it. I do enjoy Zombie's creativity, it seems like he has the idea of the future slasher film, but he has to STOP making it all the same, not everybody is white trash. He is keeping his movies too simiilar in comparison.
14 New Screenshots of HALO 3 - Sep 02, 2007 - 02:44am
lol, I lost all respect for you as a gamer, Call of Duty 2 is a great game but it is no way near the Halo franchise. Halo 2 still has more replay value than COD 2, and has a way better matchmaking system. Halo 3 WILL be groundbreaking, nothing will be like it. It will have four player online coop, a map editor aka Forge, the elephant which will change the way people think of "Capture the Flag." PC graphics may be better, but Halo 3 will kick the crap out of any other game that the PC puts up against it.
Bruce Campbell Not in BUBBA HO-TEP Sequel - Aug 29, 2007 - 03:15am
Damn it Bruce, seems like we can never get an Evil Dead 4 and now we can't get Bruce to reprise his role in Bubba Ho-tep as Elvis. I want to cry right now, seems like I can't get attached to Bruce anymore he keeps breaking my heart.
PUNISHER 2 Gets A Name Change - Aug 29, 2007 - 03:12am
I liked the first title a lot more, seems like there gonna go with the cliche
Rated R ALIENS VS. PREDATOR 2 Trailer - Aug 25, 2007 - 02:48am
Hated the first one, especially when the heroine was running in slow-mo with the predator and the fact that the predators looked like they were on roids didn't help the visuals at all. This one actually doesn't look that bad, my only qualm is why show so much of the movie? to try and entice the audience that they lost the first time they made that piece of shit? I agree don't understand the dec 25 release, I would think like mid November would be good.
Bay Rejects TRANSFORMERS 2 After Blu-Ray Snub? - Aug 22, 2007 - 12:03am
metalwater, I'm sorry I have to disagree with you, if you feel like Paramount can't be exclusive to HD-DVD, then video games like Halo shouldn't be exclusive to Xbox. Its the point and principle that this is a war and each side has to offer something exclusive over the other to entice more people to join up with their side.
Tom Savini Surfs in LOST BOYS 2 - Aug 19, 2007 - 06:40pm
Man, Jaw, I really am hoping that your being sarcastic or you are a crackhead.
HAROLD & KUMAR 2 Trailer - Aug 19, 2007 - 02:13am
I respect your opinion that it was subpar, but if you felt that way you probably didn't understand it. Harold and Kumar is a great film, the best aspect about it is the social satire with all the sterotypes, and from watching the preview it definitely doesn't look like they are swaying from a social satire. As far as it being deserving of a direct to video release, sorry your completely wrong with that, I might not have saw the first one in theatres (mostly bc it was limited release and poor marketing), but I'll for sure dish out the money to see this sequel in theatres.
TRANSFORMERS Opens to 8.1 Mil - Jul 04, 2007 - 01:53am
Man, theres nothing like seeing the new faces of mania a.k.a. formerly cinescape.com going at it. I have been active member of this site off and on for the last 3 years, and its still cracks me up when people have to have their whole post out in caps, what a joke. I saw the movie, and I enjoyed a lot, shia was good and I can diffently see why he is getting more and more roles now. It actually suprised me how much it stuck to the cartoon and I appreciated that from Bay. I read your guys posts and its just sad many of you can't even create an intelligent critique to why you didn't like it, its just a bashing contest on this site now, like who can say the most crudest joke to try and sound funny. I have no problem if you don't like it, but have an agrument supported my evidence, not just little over analyzing tidbits followed by a plea to try and sound funny, many of you forget its based off of a 80's cartoon show. I just don't understand why you expect oscar dialogue in a blockbuster action movie (your not going to get it, Deal!), as far as the story like I said it stayed very true to the show, and I appreciated that a lot. Maybe the only real problem with the movie was the fact that it didn't sem like it wanted to end, with the action scenes going on and on, but this is diffently Bay's best piece of work makes me forget about some of his other blunders. I suggest some of you read real critc reviews and see if that can help you establish a better agrument, too many of you think that you are Jay Sherman from "The Critic" and always feel like saying, "it stinks!" Oh and to answer Metalwaters question to why nobody else did the shockwaves? To answer your question I checked Wikipedia.com and found out that "Blackout" wasn't the only name that they were thinking about for the decepticon, it looks like they wanted to go with "Soundwave" which was an old decepticon. It also said that Blackout had the ability to emit emps. It's just like xmen certain transformers have differently abilities. Would you want cyclops with claws just bc you love wolverine's power? (and I'm not saying that you love wolverine, just using it as a simple analogy.)
Harry Potter Theme Park Planned - Jun 01, 2007 - 06:00pm
sounds like a very good idea, my only thing is how will this park fair 10 years down the road? This is like the first major theme park built around one movie/book. A LOTR theme park??? that's stupid, how could you even market something like that? besides the fact that harry potter theme park is way more family oriented than a LOTR theme park...wait...why am I talking about an imaginary LOTR theme park?
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END - May 25, 2007 - 11:33pm
I thought it was fun and had great visuals. If this is the last one, I will say this, the ending sucked. I don't know if it's the idea that when you pay eight bucks to see a Disney movie that you feel that you'll automatically get a happy ending, but I think that is what is expected from Disney. Some may say that it was a "Bittersweet" ending, but I just felt that there could have been an alternative ending. Well, all I could hope is that maybe down the road there will be one more, that can give us a little bit for resolution, don't get me wrong, I do believe there is a resolution. I just think that it could have been a little more "Happier," especially from Disney.
Dickerson to Helm UN-DEAD - May 15, 2007 - 09:52am
How can you say that zombie films are being ran into the ground, if anything I would say that zombie films over the past five year have been the best and most well done horror films we have seen lately. For example, "Land of the Dead", "Dawn of the Dead (remake)", "28 Days Later", "28 Weeks Later", and who can leave out "Shawn of the Dead." I'm sorry, but I totally disagree with you. I love the whole Zombie idea, and the fact that most of them have been recent successes means that they should keep on trucking with them.
First look at Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight"? - Apr 20, 2007 - 03:41am
Superhero movies are a big letdown??? The spider man series, the xmen series, batman begins, hellboy, sin city, and etc. I'm sorry I don't understand your argument you complain about Heath Ledger, but you don't explain WHY he is a "horrible choice"? and WHY Dennis Quaid is a "ten times better!" choice? So I am going to take the moment to rebutt your comment, first off, I feel that Heath is a good choice bc he can act. He was good in "Brokeback Mountain" and although he hasn't had great successes he still has range and ability to become a better actor. What I like about Heath is that he tries a little of everything he doesn't restrict himself to comedies or dramas, he still is young and definitely has the ability to blossom from a good actor to a great actor. Now, Dennis Quaid, well the fact of the matter is that Dennis Quaid doesn't look like anything the Joker should be and the fact is he is too old to be the Joker. From what I have read the basic idea was to go a little younger on the Joker hence why names like Adrian Brody were thrown about before. Oh and the fact that you are more interested in FF4 2 (Tim Story Project) over The Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan Project) automatically discredits you.
Christina Ricci joins "Speed Racer" - Apr 13, 2007 - 10:51pm
amongst the the saradon casting, this is a good choice. I like Ricci bc although she isn't mainstream, she still is a very good actress.
Michael Clarke Duncan is Vlad in "Hack/Slash"? - Apr 13, 2007 - 10:45pm
I'm sorry, I am lost. I understand the premise, but are they saying that the fictional killers are the ones they are trying to kill, i.e. Freddy, Jason, and Bates? I do dig the premise, but I was just confused to the fact that are they hunting those killers down or are they just simply killing made up killers in those areas?
Sarah Michelle Gellar not in "The Dark Knight" - Apr 13, 2007 - 10:38pm
Please stop, Sarah Michelle Gellar had two pieces of success. One was Buffy, a television series and the other was "Cruel Intentions" outside those two projects she has never done anything worthwhile. I am glad and knew that Nolan had a better reputation of letting crap actors in his projects. For my evidence to my agrument, I am going to supply you with some of the movies that Sarah has done in her film career, they are as followed: I know what you did last summer, scream 2, the grudge, scooby doo, scooby doo 2, Harvard Man, TMNT, and Happily N'Ever After. Now you tell me where inside that filmography she deserves to work on a CHRISTOPHER NOLAN PROJECT?????????????? Exactly, she doesn't even compare to Al Pacino, Guy Pierce, Robin Williams, Hillary Swank, Morgan Freeman, Christopher Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Liam Nielson, Joe Pantoliano, Carrie-Anne Moss, Michael Caine, and etc. I'm not trying to say she didn't do good with her "Buffy" series, but by no means does even qualify as an actor that could take a simple role in a Nolan movie.
Image of the suit in "Iron Man" - Apr 12, 2007 - 02:35am
god its gorgeous, and i don't mean it sarcastically, you can totally tell that its a step to the final suit, I love the fact that it's so nitty gritty. I love it, its great, don't talk shit about it, bc i know somebody will think that its the final suit. I know its hard here on mania.com but hold your tongues (so to say.)
Susan Sarandon and John Goodman join "Speed Racer" - Apr 03, 2007 - 12:23pm
I don't mind the sarandon casting, but goodman as "pops"! That is a joke. I don't even remember the last movie that I enjoyed that Goodman was in, prolly "The Big Lebowski" and "Arachnophobia" ...and...and...well thats it. I hated him in Blues Brother 2000 (which was an insult to John Belushi, I couldn't stand him in The Flintstones, King Ralph was a joke, Bringing out the dead was boring as fuck, the only success the man has had is in animation where he did a voice over and the last I checked this is live action.
Microsoft announces Xbox 360: Elite - Mar 28, 2007 - 07:00pm
This is great, of course there always has to be people bitching otherwise it wouldn't be right. First off if you have a premium and you don't have a t.v. with hdmi then don't buy it! It's simple retards, you can buy the hard drive separate and be perfectly content. This is for people who NEED an HDMI output in their xbox, thats it, and the price value is extremely nice, considering your getting a hdmi output and an additional 100gigs of hard drive. And Merin, its simple, I like my desktop to play games, BUT a person who buys a xbox, is a person who wants to play "Halo." Merin, besides the fact that what you failed to mention is that even though you can get a nice desktop cheap, newer games require more ram, better video cards, etc. While a console is a one time deal, and simple for most gamers who don't want to go thru the whole switching out crap and spending 200 on a decent video card.
Columbia options "The Green Hornet" - Mar 21, 2007 - 08:14am
Unless I see a really kick ass trailer that changes my mind, I have no desire to even bother with this comic adaptation. It seems to me that DC is desperate to do anything to try and have the same success as Marvel, it just seems to me though that there is just a way bigger world in Marvel than DC. I mean the only two big names from DC are Batman and Superman, Green Lantern at third (which I don't understand hasn't been takin more seriously, seems like a potential cash cow. I would much rather see a Green Lantern story) as a oppose to Marvel's Spider man, Hulk, X men, Daredevil, Fanastic Four, and Punisher.
New "Shrek the Third" Poster - Mar 20, 2007 - 07:20am
To answer your question narpin, yes! I care about Shrek, the franchise is great and fun to watch it's a great family comedy that has hidden adult humor aswell, so that even parents and younger adults can even enjoy.
Kirsten Dunst says "Spider-Man" needs a break - Mar 16, 2007 - 07:44am
X3 wasn't bad, but none of them were ever good either. Singer did a decent job with the franchise, but I' am not going to rave about him, I did like how he did some of the characters, but for the most part and even in the first one, there was just too many characters to follow. The story got diluted sometimes and it seemed like I had to follow too much in a two hour movie. I would have much prefered it just have been jean gray, wolverine, cyclops, and storm in the first one, then in the second one introduce rogue and ice man, I didn't need to see them in all three.
Kirsten Dunst says "Spider-Man" needs a break - Mar 16, 2007 - 07:31am
Although, she is speaking for sam and she really shouldn't because we don't know how he feels about it, I will say I agree with her. The Spider Man franchise has been like every two years, maybe it's time they took a break and come back to it in like four years. Let's face it to, if they keep forcing scripts and keeping pushing spider man, the product might come out watered down. I love spider man and I'm sure I'll be happy with the third one. I do appreciate though that kirsten has stuck up for sam, showing a lot of unity amongst the three actors, and she said she would do another and it seems like tobey would too, I really appreciate the comitment they have to the project. I just say if its a break that all three REALLY want then let them have it, I ain't going anywhere anytime soon, I can wait.
"Horton Hears a Who" gets a voice cast - Mar 13, 2007 - 07:24am
I do like the way it looks, I like the CGI, a lot better than the live action ones of recent. The Grinch and Cat in the Hat were both sub-par movies, I hope Horton can break the mold.
Shia LaBeouf talks "Constantine 2" - Mar 13, 2007 - 07:21am
I enjoyed this movie a lot, by no means was it a very good movie, but it was still pretty decent. I don't mind a second one.
Universal to remake "The Host" - Mar 13, 2007 - 07:18am
This cracks me up, they can't even wait a couple of years before they remake this one. It's getting out of hand, I read a review about the movie and it sounds good, I would much rather watch the korean language one then some crappy american remake.
Gerard Butler joins "Escape From New York" - Mar 13, 2007 - 07:14am
GOOD GOING PONYBOY! Why did you have to mention "Mad Max." Now, some asshole in Hollywood probably just read your post and got a crazy idea of remaking "The Road Warrior." >=O. Some producer just got little money signs in his eyes, thinking, well if we can't get mel to do a sequel, then we'll do a remake. Just kidding, pony, but seriously I'm getting nervous with all these remakes. At first, I didn't mind bc they were remaking stuff even before my time, but now there getting closer to the stuff that I was raised on, and so help me god if they re-do "Ghostbusters" or "Predator" there is going to be hell to pay, HELL TO PAY!
Ashton Kutcher joins "Lakeview" - Mar 12, 2007 - 01:54pm
Okay, I guess I'm going to be the first one to say this, but this sounds very close to "Guess Who." Both revolving around interacial relationships and being either pushed to leave or deliberate actions to intent on breaking the relationship up. I am so sick of Ashton, name me one movie, where he did something worthwhile...exactly, and don't give me that crap that "The Butterfly Effect" was any good. The plot might have been very interesting, but come on, Ashton can't act. He has already type casted himself into comedies now, so that he can do slapstick types to ease people on his acting. The guy was an underwear model, where in the hell does that say he is deserving to be an actor. Sometimes, I really can't stand American Cinema, we get people aren't true actors nowadays, it's like the term "actor" has been severly downgraded from what it used to be. Acting used to be an art that was held to high regard, now they'll let any dipshit become an actor to generate revenue. You want something funny, but will make you think watch movies like "The Matador", "The Royal Tenebaums," or "Sideways." Well, I"m sorry to the poor sap that read this all. I know I ranted, but I can't stand the Ashton Kutchers of acting, bringing the art of acting to the level of a fast food joint, just so they can make a buck.
Jeff Bridges is Obadiah Stane in "Iron Man" - Mar 09, 2007 - 07:25am
I'm sorry, but squid your a fool. If you think this movie is going to be a flop bc of downey and paltrow, then you don't know much at all, both are incredible actors. Paltrow has already proven herself as a very capable actress, not to mentiont the fact that she has also won an oscar. I don't mean to be mean, but I'm sure I got you pegged your probably would rather have a ben affleck or ashton kutcher play tony stark. You should be happy that Faverau is going to great lengths to give "Iron Man" this much potential.
Jon Heder in "Three Men Seeking Monsters"? - Mar 08, 2007 - 07:03am
I hate Napolean Dynamite, so in turn I hate Heder. He seems like a really good guy, but he can't act and thats really it. He is one dimentional, but I do love Ferell, so either way I'll see "Blades of Glory" but don't expect it to be as good as Talledaga Nights.
Halle Berry joins "Who is Doris Payne" - Mar 07, 2007 - 07:24am
I think she is attractive, but that costume is so ridiculous that it makes me laugh at her. Kinda looks like some bad porno outfit, but I do like Halle Berry as an actor, so I don't see any problems with this cast and kinda interested to see some more about this
Rob Zombie shows off Michael Myers - Feb 27, 2007 - 08:56pm
I'm sorry, I have faith in Rob Zombie and the fact that he understands the "Horror" genre, but this saga needs to stop. It's been done, it was good, got ridiculous, got even more ridiculous. Let's atleast stop after this one and hope that Rob can redeem this once good franchise and put this old dog to sleep finally.
Adrien Brody is "The Hulk"? - Feb 13, 2007 - 02:32pm
I don't know why this is such a bad choice? I don't claim to be a wealth of knowledge as far as comic mythology, but from what I know is that Banner is a scientist, who allows his emotions to be bottled up, when he is exposed to gamma radiation, it allows the Hulk to manifest from those rageful emotions, that he has allowed to store up inside. So to me Brody seems like a good choice, why wouldn't you want the exact opposite that is the Hulk? Banner is supposed to be a mess of a man trying to find a way to stop the manifestion of the Hulk and the Hulk is all that rage built up inside of Banner that he let build up. I really don't understand the problem with this casting? A scientist who devotes his life to finding a way to stop the Hulk within, wouldn't you expect a missed up hair-do and a very wrecked person, hence why I think that Brody fits the mold to a T.
"Indy 4" News - Jan 23, 2007 - 09:31pm
I wasn't talking about acting, I was saying as a director, that I have started to enjoy Clint Eastwood.
"Indy 4" News - Jan 23, 2007 - 01:15am
Connery will return bc what else is that dust pile doing? Don't get me wrong I love Connery, but to be honest off the top of my head I can't even remember his last movie. Clint would be nice, ever since Clint went the route of making some good movies like "Million Dollar Baby" I have started to really like him, but I don't know if this is his cup of tea. Although, who knows bc when you get Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who will do MI 3, and not do the sequel to Batman Begins, who knows!
"Mummy 3" Plot details - Jan 23, 2007 - 01:10am
Wait! I'm confused is Faser or Weisz in this movie at all, if they aren't then its just one of those crap sequels, i.e. son of the mask. If thats the case then just put it direct to video bc i ain't bothering, movies that tend to make sequels without the main cast or director from the previous movies tend to fail in my opinion. Just seems to me that you don't have that attachment to the characters that you liked in the series.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Terence Stamp join "Get Smart" - Jan 17, 2007 - 02:20am
i agree, right now Carell is one of the best comedians. Rock is a pretty good actor, but he needs to stop doing crap like "Doom" bc that gives a pretty bad rep, I loved him "The Rundown." He has definitely showed signs of becoming a MUCH better action hero then Vin "Doche"sil
"Superman Returns" sequel: Shorter, tighter, action-packed - Jan 17, 2007 - 02:15am
no desire, don't care at all. superman is a love em or hate em super hero. you either love him bc of the time he represents or you hate him like i do bc he is pretty much invincible and has absouletely no moral dillemas. Oh yeah, KJ, can you please stop tearing on Pirates 2, you say you like this garbage but you hate pirates, personally it doesn't make much sense to me. In all honestly the casting for this movie sucked, i was under the impression that lex and clark kent were friends at a younger age even before "Smallville" and if thats right then why is kevin spacey, lex luthor? its a huge age gap, i'm sorry but i'll stick to "Batman Begins." I love the direction Nolan has taken it and he has completely redeemed it, even the titles are great, "The Dark Knight." I love it
Gwyneth Paltrow joins "Iron Man" - Jan 17, 2007 - 02:03am
i'm excited, in all honesty, if there was a movie that showed me that faverau can direct it was "elf." Obviously it is a completely different genre, but I have faith in faverau, he just seems to really be sincere on what he works. I am excited the cast is probably one of the best for a super hero ever, each one brings something different, and we all know that they can act. I think Downey was an incredibly great cast choice for stark.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" Artwork - Jan 13, 2007 - 10:02pm
Omg, how can you say there was no plot in pirates 2??? did you not watch the movie and are just talking out your ass? Let me explain it to you, the plot circled around Jack Sparrow searching for a key and obtaining the dead man's chest so he could bartered with Davi Jone's and call off the Kracken. The subplots were East India trading co. trying to gain control of the sea with having Davi Jone's heart so they could control the kracken and Will Turner meeting his Father and making a promise to him that he will sever the hold that Davi Jones has on him. I completely disagree with KJ, and don't understand why he believes it was bland, maybe at times it was over the top, but there was more a story this time around then the first one. We learn a hell of a lot more about Jack, how he obtained the compass and how it works, we meet will's enslaved father and how they react to eachother's first meeting and if that's not enough for you then i don't know what to tell you and watch anyother second movie in a trilogy and you will see the same thing in each of them, an unfinish story that connects the second one to the third one, giving us the conclusion of the complete story. Oh yeah and Cannibal island wasn't completely pointless if you payed attention Jack told Gibbs to find any land asap so that way he would be out of danger from the Kracken, and that's where Will is told to search, but i will agree that it may have been to long of a scene but the movie is meant to be entertaining and actionpacked and i would have to say that the whole bonecage scene was great
Dominic Purcell is NOT "The Incredible Hulk" - Jan 07, 2007 - 01:53pm
I don't understand why so many of you don't like Ang Lee's Hulk it was good except for the look of the Hulk. I loved the script, its all pretty much the story of Banner being a tortured soul, and it was Banner becoming the Hulk not him already the Hulk so to think that Ang Lee got it right. The whole time we see how depressing his childhood was and he watched his abusive father harm his mother and nearly try and kill him. I loved it, if anything i got from the movie it was that Banner just was a total wreck and the Hulk was just what it was suppose to be all his built up rage.
