Ray Park is amazing, I love that guy. He's perfect for the part and the picture shows they nailed the character's appearance. A shame Ray can't get larger roles with actual lines though. His martial arts skills are without question.
The Oceanic Six are Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Aaron, and Sun (in that order). Jack and Kate were shown in the "Through the Looking Glass" flashforward. Hurley had his flashforward in "The Beginning of the End". In "The Economist" Sayid had his flashforward and if you watch the enhanced version on ABC.com the info pop-up reveals he was the fourth of the Six. This confirms the previous three. In the preview for "Eggtown" it was stated that another of the Oceanic Six would be revealed. Jack and Kate were already shown in a previous episode leaving Aaron as the only possible candidate. Then in the "Ji Yeon" preview it was stated that the last of the Six would be revealed. That was Sun. It all adds up. I've seen this argued on too many websites. If you don't think these are the Six, then you are just defeating yourself. A little correction, 2001 was the year of the snake. 2000 and 2012 are the years of the dragon.
Even Sci-Fi Channel can't strike out every time. Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King was good.
The story concept actually has its roots in pre-existing myth and legend. I'm glad to see such rich material being tapped again. There are so many stories from ancient cultures that have been forgotten or over-looked for too long. Everyone remembers the big ones like Greek mythology or Arthurian legend, but there is so much out there. As for the difference between a goblin and a hobgoblin, it depends on the story's origin. J.R.R. Tolkien wrote about hobgoblins in "The Hobbit" as being larger, stronger, and meaner versions of the goblins. He later admitted his mistake. Traditionally hobgoblins are smaller and more benign while still mischievous. Think of Robin Goodfellow as an example (Puck from A Midsummers Night's Dream). Sometimes though the hobgoblin can still be malicious. Because most fantasy based material post Tolkien viewed his work as a bible, they would often fail to do research beyond his work. That is why you will still see his original description of hobgoblins in more modern stories, RPGs, comics, and videogames.
Last I heard the actors and writers were standing side by side so the SAG Awards were never in threat. There are a great deal of actors on the Writer's Strike picket line, many big name ones too.
Freddy is an unstoppable force. In each film he would be 'defeated' but he always came back in the sequel. Jason is an unstoppable force. In each film he would be 'defeated' but he always came back in the sequel. Ash is an unstoppable force. He's killed countless deadites. He lead the mortal army against the Army of Darkness. He even showed he could kill his own friends when they were possessed by the evil. Then there are the marvel zombies. Hell, he's even been possessed by the evil himself and returned. Not to mention battling his own hand, his evil self, and everything they threw at him in the video games. Ash might have been born human, but he's just as every bit super hero. He's like Bruce Willis in Die Hard but kicked up a few levels. Beat the crap out of him for most of the movie but by the end he saves the day.... Even if he doesn't say all the words right... maybe not each and every syllable. But he got the idea and left it open for a sequel.
I'm not saying it's right but this is how things are... Most comics were created by white people. Most people still working in the comic industry are white people. Most of the fan base remains as white people. People go with what they know. Most people create characters of the same gender, race, and age that they are. That is why most comic heroes are male too. The more creative someone can be the more restrictions they drop off. About the only way to change things is to either demand more creativity or have more people of racial diversity enter the industry. But the complaint isn't just limited to black heroes. How many Hispanic heroes do you see that aren't horrible stereotypes, the same goes for Asians, Middle Eastern, etc.
Well, an Aussie (Mel Gibson) played an American in The Patriot and a Scott in Braveheart. Personally I don't know much about this guy but from the photo he doesn't scream Joe material to me. I grew up watching the original series when it originally aired.
If these are the type of people they are looking at for leaguers, then they are going for a much younger bunch than I would have imagined.

I liked the film. I thought it was one of the better video game to movie adaptations. There were a few things from the game I would have liked to have seen more of and a few things that were just invented for the movie. Nika was Mikhail Belicoff's slave, not his brothers.
