Mania Review: Riddick (Article) - 9/6/2013 10:32:25 PM

I personally enjoyed chronicles of Riddick, both the theatrical and Directors cut. For anyone that wasn't a fan of the film I say you need to watch the Directors cut and see the original vision that was cut down (or brutalized pick your word and go with it). It makes far more sense and is a well done movie. As for Riddick, this is one I'm looking forward to. The world that Diesel and Twohy are playing in is a fun and dark one. It keeps sci fi in its darker side while flirting with the edges of horror as well.....Also on a side note, most paper movie critics are cynical assholes that love to rate (the majority...ha yes I know some great films IE avengers got a good review from most) sci fi and big budget films as popcorn style flicks that offer nothing for the heart or imagination. Making comments about how characters lacked depth and reasons. This is exactly why I avoid reviews on any films that I want to see and choose to make the judgment for myself. Or lurk around common film fan websites seeing what the true faithful think.

First Look: Necronomicon (Article) - 11/1/2012 4:03:11 PM

I cant stand switching out characters for remakes or previous versions. It just reeks of desperation. I avoided BSG after destroying Starbuck and will avoid this and stick to all my previous versions of the Ash storyline.

10 Ways Disney Could Save Star Wars (Article) - 11/1/2012 4:00:29 PM

I dont see any of the listed directors being able to or having the time to take on a project that would span the next 7-10 years. Spielbergo...nope....Whedon....nope. The fan vote is nothing more then a pipe dream and a good dream at that but its just something thats not going to happen. There will be no thrawn trilogy, there will be nothing taken from books or the games. It may be considered canon to most of us, but i seriously doubt lucas see's it that way and in the end its going to be up to him and Kathleen. This will be a three part trilogy that follows all previous entries. First will be character introduction, Second will be the problem, Third the resolution. Yes there is a VAST group of characters to pull from. But i doubt we will see any of them in the story line. For all we know this story could be a hundred plus years in the future. As much fun as speculation can be it also leads to disappointment when the actual story arrives because it doesnt live up to what we expected. I am going to sit back and hope for the best and enjoy another adventure into a universe i grew up loving.

Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015 (Article) - 10/30/2012 3:41:08 PM

This could either be very good or very bad. Disney was behind the avengers and made that happen to an extent. For the Star Wars fans that will visit the Disney state of florida this will mean an increased Star Wars presence. Toys sold all over the parks. I can see it now, creatures of Naboo at the animcal kingdom. Does this mean they get their own pavilion at epcot now? Does tomorrowland get redone and become Star Wars land? So many questions.

Tony Scott Passes (Article) - 8/20/2012 7:50:11 PM

R.I.P.... one of the gods of modern film making has fallen. He was a visionary and a pioneer in the film industry leaving us with a vast stable of incredible films. His vision, his talent and his style will be forever missed.

Mania Review: The Bourne Legacy (Article) - 8/11/2012 1:26:52 AM

Overall it was a good movie. I agree with a lot of the review on the sections that drug out to long and the constant reference to the original. How will it all play out? Who knows but honestly it added a new element to it but it was something that should have had at least some reference in the earlier films and was quickly glossed over in regards to Jason Bourne. How does it compare to the other 3? If you were to rank them all in order this would without a doubt be the worst of the series.

Red Dawn First Look (Article) - 8/9/2012 5:32:25 PM

Trailer looked good but it seemed to me to lose a lot of the small town America feel with the ctiy they used to shoot it in. From what im reading and yes it could be just baseless internet bs (POSSIBLE SPOILER) its not going to be as epic as the original. To me this is just one of those movies you dont remake. The original still stands the test of time so leave it be. I watched the original the other day and still loved it just as much as when I was younger.

Man With the Iron Fists Official Trailer (Article) - 8/9/2012 4:34:29 PM

Has potential with the actors listed and Roth and Tarantino involved. The only thing that scares me is RZA directing the movie. Not a slight on him at all, but this will be his directorial debut. Could be really good or could be ok. I think with the support he's getting from Roth and Tarantino he should do fine though. But.... still a worry.

Hobbit Limited HFR Release (Article) - 8/9/2012 12:39:53 PM

Tried to post some info from Variety but basically its boiling down to this: Upgrade is for series 2 projectors to play 48 fps and that will be few and far between. But the one thing the article did say near the end is that 4k 3D 48 fps is not going to be happening due to file size and transfer rate. Basically saying that they would need to overhaul the whole system and projector to do that. Look up WB plans limited release of hobbit 48 fps / Variety

Hobbit Limited HFR Release (Article) - 8/8/2012 5:19:25 PM

Almostunbiased - turn of cinema view it will look normal. Its an annoying featuer a lot of TV makers are putting on all high end LED LCD tv's now. Was on my LG when I bought it and it annoyed the hell out of me. Im an image freak when it comes to my TV's, Films, Editing.

Film 24 fps

Pal 25 fps

TV 29.97 with a .03 drop frame

720 -  59.94 with a .06 drop frame

Also no 4k 3d 48 fps version of the hobbit will be shown. That is a massive amount of Data to push at one time and I doubt any theaters could handle that.
