Latest Full Trailer for MAX PAYNE - Aug 29, 2008 - 04:43am
I've never played the games but my buddies say they were great. I thought the trailer looked wicked sweet. I had not idea the demon angels weren't in the game but I'm willing to plop down my money to give this movie a chance. Marky Mark is da BOMB YO!!!!
And Mila Kunis looks wicked Hot too!!
Top Maniacal Rumors: More Turtles, Doom Love and Moore Dissent - Jul 25, 2008 - 06:02am
WOW!! Moore really is a jerk. But like you Dazzler I too give him credit for sticking to his gun's. I mean the work he put into the series, he deserves to give his opinion on what they should do with it. Althought because it officially belongs to someone else it doesn't really matter what he says. I find it funny though how he mentions talking to someone in the 80's about how to do the movie. To me that is like talking to someone using a computer in 1985 and asking if it's possible to make it small enough to be carried in a briefcase and have a faster processor. Times change and from the trailer I think Snyder will do the movie huge justice.
PRISON BREAK Season 3 Hits DVD Aug 12 - Jul 18, 2008 - 01:20pm
This show was such a sleeper hit from the start. And I really didn't want to get into it because I thought it would be a 1 season show and drop off. I am going to be picking up this season when it's out. The setup for 3 was a pretty good one and helped push a setup for season 4.
Update: First WATCHMEN Trailer Online - Jul 18, 2008 - 04:06am
I have to say that trailer brought every scene exactly from the novel. I am absolutley blown away by the imagery. I just love how we are finally getting a string of comic movies that have directors attached that put their full love and care into. I only just wish all the movies had the budget and deep commitment of their Directors that TDK, Iron Man and now after watching this trailer Watchment have.
Was This Hulk Really Necessary? - Jun 15, 2008 - 05:28pm
I caught Hulk on Saturday and while it was heads and tails WAY better than the Ang Lee one I actually thought back on how not necessary this on was. But from Marvel's stand point this is exactly what they want. They have cash off of both movies. This one will make their money and more.....and further to that the essence of the film works into what Marvel has built for their long term plans. (Avengers)
I think it's the smartest move ever. And I give them props for going right ahead and doing it anyway. But all in all I liked how Norton worked as Banner, and Blonsky was amazing.
Box Office: HULK Flies into Top Spot - Jun 15, 2008 - 05:24pm
I'm not too sure about Get Smart and Guru cancelling each other out. Alot of the crowd who remember Get Smart may come out big for this one. But we'll have to see.
Amanda Peet Opposite Cusack in 2012 - Jun 13, 2008 - 07:23am
There is obviously a market for disaster movies or people would not still go and see them. Some I will pay to see at the theatres (ID4, Armageddon) and some I will rent (Day after Tommorow, Deep Impact). But I will probably see this one in theatres. I missed seeing 10,000 BC. Never found the time.
It's not really silly about the Mayan Calendar.....it's no different than all the Nostradamus (sp) followers. Just nobody has been dumb enough to make a movie about him.
Comic Review: CAPTAIN AMERICA #38 - Jun 04, 2008 - 06:00am
Nice review Kurt. I actually only jumped on board Captain America after going through Civil War and your constant comments on how great this series is. I picked it up 1 issue after his death and now this has become one of my regular pick-up's. I love the story and it has a good mix of action and political intrigue that I usually like in a novel....so it's great that I can pick it up in a monthly comic. And I have no qualms about a new Cap. We all know at some point he will be back so i'll enjoy the story with Bucky until Ed doesn't write for it anymore or the stories dry up.
Production Begins on Stephen King's CADILLAC - May 30, 2008 - 06:50am
I have yet to read this book yet (it's sitting on my kitchen table) but when the weather gets consistant then I will tackle it.
What I can't understand is in this age of epic movies why there hasn't been anything on King's Dark Tower Series. That has to be some of the best reading I've gone through in the last few years.
Oh and I'm not a big fan of Slater.....and I will reserve my judgement of how he portrays an antagonist until after I watch the movie.
Comicscape: I Am Iron Man - May 07, 2008 - 04:50pm
In this Months Mighty Avengers #13 there is a great panel scenew with Nick Fury that take a great jab at his Ultimate counterpart. After going back and reading secret war again I can appreciate and understand why they would take the Ultimate route for the movies. It's the newer line that has retooled the approach of the teams and by the sales they can make the judgement that they will not be too far off.
Two Minutes of IRON MAN - Apr 13, 2008 - 06:55pm
It's funny SONY looking at how much you realy feel about Spiderman I guess I always figured you didn't like him in general not how they put everything together in the movie. You have alot of great points....the main one I agree with you is the casting of Peter Parker and also how they didn't realy show him of much of a nerd which is why in the comics he seemed so real. But Jake would have fit the role closer which is why as much as I love the franchise (even 3 to some degree) I was a little excited when after 1 they said Tobey may not continue. But all that is history now.
But back to Iron Man I really hope the story is good because that is what I want to remember because the special effects will only help to enhance the way the story is delivered.
Two Minutes of IRON MAN - Apr 13, 2008 - 10:43am
I won't even argue with SONY because after all the posts i've read from him he will never like Spiderman (or PIG). I just think the way some comic movies have been handled or spun in development hell for so long to actually see the care put into Spiderman (powers and all) was fantastic. And Iron Man who is one of top 5 hero's again I could never see how well they could translate it. So like a movie or not thats the comparison I'm making. Not really touching story or anything SONY.
Two Minutes of IRON MAN - Apr 13, 2008 - 12:22am
This movie is going to rock so damn hard it's not funny. My anticipation for this is almost on par to when I first saw Spidey on the big screen and never thought they could pull it off right. Favreau to this movie is going to be what Raimi was to Spiderman.
ALVIN Slices Sweeney in DVD Race. - Apr 10, 2008 - 08:51am
Well I took my son to see it. He enjoyed it, and I thought it was enjoyable for what it was.....a live action version of cartoon chipmunks.
The script was corny and cheesy but thats what kids eat up. Case in point is my little brothers DVD collection has Big fat liar with Malocom in the middle and New York Minuite with the Olsen twits. From back a while but when he was younger he loved those movies.
Really Big Robot in TRANSFORMERS 2? - Apr 07, 2008 - 09:11am
In regards to Cfancher's comment about the rumor of SOundwave being in the next film as much I loved him growing up I think technology as it is has him as obsolete. I mean he wouldn't exactly be a radio anymore as everyone and their uncle use MP3's and IPOD's so I really can't see what they would use him for.
Ans as for big robot's I'm sure Devistator would be awsome in this but I don't see it happening. A agree with Pony either Metroplex or Trypticon to be used in a huge epic blow out.
I liked Transformers for what it was as well. It's not like we had a Favreau or Nolan to handle it and put as much passion but I have to say for what Bay did I can tolerate it and just enjoy the Giant Robots smash buildings and blow up everything without thought of collateral damage!!
McConaughey Is the New MAGNUM P.I? - Apr 03, 2008 - 06:45am
Well seeing as how Magnum was a show very many women watched I can see the logic in why they would choose Matt.
If they are still looking for T.C. my vote is for Terrance Howard. I don't know why but I can see him as such a good fit for that role.
But thats just me.
Futurama is Back - Mar 24, 2008 - 09:23am
I love Futurama and found it to be one of the funniest shows to come out in such a long time which is why I wasn't surprised Fox canned it.
Well as the Great and Powerful Bender says:
" FOX you can kiss my Shiny Metal Ass!!"
Kurt Wimmer Preparing METAL GEAR SOLID? - Mar 13, 2008 - 02:56pm
I'm with you Hanso. I think of the many game adaptations this is one that almost can't miss. I say almost because anyone can screw up a movie. But Metal Gear has the back story, the great supporting characters and the awsome plot. Add in the gun fire, fight scenes and huge explosions that would come at the end and I think if treated properly would deffinatly be treated to a trilogy.
And I really hope they option God of War soon.
First HULK Teaser Trailer Online - Mar 13, 2008 - 04:31am
Not a bad trailer. I think the Hulk did look like Ang Lee's Hulk but really what can you change on the Hulk. But I Have to say I'll be watching the movie to see what other Toronto landmarks I can see. I laughed at the last scene of the trailer at the flashing neon Zanzibar sign which is a raunchy strip club in downtown T.O.!!
New Trailer for The STRANGERS - Mar 12, 2008 - 04:48am
F'd up stuff. Deffinatly a rental for me. Unless it's attached to a good double feature at the local drive-in. For these movies you have to have good atmosphere.
X-FORCE #1 - Feb 17, 2008 - 01:03pm
Good review Kurt. I also for some reason was really looking forward to this book but was lukewarm with the way the first issue was executed. Merin I can see how thay can justify Scott as having to go to these extremes. Just look at how much as the leader of the X-Men he has gone through, and after their last battle to help preserve the Mutant line he has realized that he does need the X-Force. How this translates after they deal with the first threat we will see. But I don't know just how many stories you can write when there are only 198(??) Mutants left and alot more humans. I guess i'll be patient for a bit and see.
New Toy Reveals CLOVERFIELD Monster - Feb 17, 2008 - 12:55pm
The fact that you came all the way down to the bottom of the page to make the comment shows you really didn't try that hard to avoid the news. And it's a toy. Plus the movie has been out for over a month.
Six New Clips for JUMPER - Feb 02, 2008 - 05:43am
Whiskey: You are safer waiting until after the movie to read the books. I really loved the first, but there are so many elements of the second (Reflex) that blew my mind too it's hard to rate one against the other story wise.
But with Sam this movie should rock!
Six New Clips for JUMPER - Feb 01, 2008 - 10:24pm
Until I picked up the book Jumper and Reflex over Christmas I never understood the hate about this movie getting made. But having read them and loved every page I have to say I am a bit disapointed about the addition of more jumpers and this backstory about the palladins(sp). But I do love movies and I like the root of this story so I will be there. And I won't even judge it harshly because without constant action some of these studios feel they will never have a great movie. Oh well.
PRISON BREAK: Dirt Nap - Jan 24, 2008 - 12:29pm
Good point Beer but Sammy was the first person he had a hand in directly killing but in essence he was responsible for Sarah's death too. Not by his own hand but by involving her in alot of events before and after the original breakout.
First still of STAR TREK'S Enterprise online - Jan 17, 2008 - 05:05pm
I really can't wait for this movie. There are alot of huge blockbusters comeing out that I know I will watch. But what I'm hoping from this Trek movie is that it will get me to want to go back onto the Original trek seasons. I've seen all the movies but I was of the Next Generation and just never got it when my parents watched the old series.
WB Confirms JUSTICE LEAGUE On Hold - Jan 17, 2008 - 05:20am
R I P Crappy Justice League. Maybe in 5 years someone with sense will be at Warner and give this the treatment it deserves.
PRISON BREAK: Boxed In - Jan 17, 2008 - 05:08am
Decent review of this episode. It was strong but not the strongest they have put out. Only one correction it was Michael who said to Gretchen "I
m coming for you" not Linc. Sorry to point it out. But man do I really want to see her death. The way she is trying to come across innocent to Michael was pissing me off.
Michelle Williams Cast for SHUTTER ISLAND - Dec 07, 2007 - 11:30pm
Yeah your right......look at those Huge deformities on her chest...one on each side. God who would want to cast her in anything!!
Bale Confirmed for TERMINATOR SALVATION - Dec 03, 2007 - 06:59am
I'm all for this movie and the fact that Bale is going to be attached in some fashion pumps me up even more.
Swansong I don't understand what you mean about "what movie WON'T he turn down" Last time I checked Bale has never been a movie whore. He picks the roles that he wants and has not been in very many if any crap films.
Planet of the Apes (Prequel) - Nov 17, 2007 - 05:57pm
I loved all of the old Planet of the Apes Movies when I was a kid and appreciate them more even now. I also really loved the new one whenit came out. I'm with you Richard I love the creature films and although I don't really complain about movies I wouldn't mind seeing more of them. On an unrelated not i have some hopes that this Cloverfield movies can fill the void a bit.
First Images of Quinto's SPOCK Online - Nov 13, 2007 - 10:57am
I think Quinto (even thought the picture isn't the best) looks good. I am sure he will do great as Spock.
And to the complaints about building on ST. They tried that with 3 new shows after Next Generation and they didn't really take off. Escpecially Voyager. I remember all the complaints. Now what if they tried those as movies instead of TV series. There would still be complaints as fan boys would say the shows had no backstory and made no sense. So now they have a chance to re-capture a great series that did well as movies too. And what is said. That they are slapping the original in the face. As some other posters said before nobody can wil in this. I have enjoyed for the most part every incarnation of the Star Trek Universe they have put out and when this comes out I will again line up to see it. Because if it means I get to see more then I'm all for it and I hope it makes tons of cash.
BEE MOVIE Stings The Competition - Nov 12, 2007 - 08:11am
I have to say I saw American Gangster over the weekend and thought it was a great flick. I hate to say I let how an actor's behavior off the screen affect my judgement of them but I really thought Crowe did a great job. I find it hard to not see an Oscar nod for either actor and the director on this one. I took my son to Bee movie last weekend and surprisingly he actually sat through 2/3 of and for a 3 year old I think thats pretty good. I liked it but I might be biased because I am a huge Seinfeld fan. But for a kids movie it shouldn't be a huge shock that it is in more theatres as usually a theatre will stock up on a kids movie before an R rated movies because of the consessions revenue they will make off of parents who have to buy kids junk.
Greenwood Captains Crew in STAR TREK - Nov 08, 2007 - 07:47am
I'm not going to complain about the cast for this movie. I got into the Original ST after watching the movies and really liked ST Next Gen. But the one thing that won't always happen is getting look a likes for all their movies. I think there has rarley been a movie in recent times made that anyone has liked the casting. I really can't wait for this and hope it breathes new life into this franchise for many years to come.
BRUCE WAYNE Getting Shelved? - Nov 07, 2007 - 12:04am
RE: #9
"If this is ripping off Marvel, then Marvel ripped off DC for what it did with Supes and the Bat decades before. "
I must really be out of times then because I never recall DC completly changing the face of their comic lines by pitting their hero's against each other and then assasinate their greatest hero. But you probably know best.
And back on point. This will fail like all hairbrained ideas that DC tries with thier titles. I give it 7 months of extremely low sales and Wayne is back. But with a slow introduction of a mysterious character in the shadows. Very unpredictable.
Butt Kicking Double Feature - Oct 23, 2007 - 08:43am
Pony I agree with you. If you're looking for Justice League you can say to an extent the older group of Heroes was that.....and they failed. Now you have our current set and they are indiviuals...some that cross paths and others that have their own issues and problems to take care of. I believe that with so many new people coming out that when (if) this series gets to 4 or maybe even as early as season 3 you will most likely be intorduced to a super team. Wether they are good or evil...I suspect evil but not in the comic book saturday morning cartoon sense. But more in the everyday type of manipulating minor events that hold a larger fallout, or banks and financial markets. I really don't forsee this series turning into a Marvel comics kind of world. Which is why I keep watching.
Ans as for Sarah Connor I really have some hopes for this show, but failing to see the pilot as some I don't quite see what they will do week to week. You can't keep having Terminator's showing up because that would not make much sense.
