Constantine: Non Est Asylum Review (Article) - 10/27/2014 8:31:07 AM

I thought it was really good, and I disagree that it was over-full with stuff.  I'm glad that I don't have to sit around for 3-4 episodes being spoonfed small doses of the character to get into the story and the world just because Rule #3 of Television Production states that "All shows must be paced out for the general public who watches Maury Povich and The Real Housewives of New York" (i.e. morons).

I really enjoyed the first episode and I can't wait for next week!  I hope they can keep up the strong pace!

The Flash: Things You Can't Outrun Review (Article) - 10/22/2014 2:36:53 PM

Another solid, enjoyable, fun episode!!  I'm loving this show, I'm loving the tie-ins with Arrow and the larger DC universe (even if it's not tying into their upcoming cinematic excursions).  Overall, I'm a big fan of the show, and I can't wait to see where this show goes.

Arrow: Sara Review (Article) - 10/19/2014 1:26:24 PM

Tim, as you may by now know, DC/Warners announced at a shareholder meeting this past week that they will definitively NOT be connecting their film and TV universes.  They've cast some kid from "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" to play the title character in the Flash film and Justice League tie-ins.

And DC fails again.....

Warwick Davis Cast in Star Wars: Episode VII (Article) - 10/17/2014 11:34:53 AM

Warwick Davis.  In a Star Wars movie.

This is news?  LOL.  I'd consider it bigger news if he WASN'T cast in the film!!  Jokes aside, though, I'm glad that a "series regular" is back, even if he isn't playing any of his previous characters.

Mania Review: FURY (Article) - 10/17/2014 11:33:36 AM

I've been excited to see this since the first trailer I saw for it.  Hopefully I can get a baby-sitter this weekend....

Jason Momoa IS Aquaman (Officially) (Article) - 10/16/2014 9:47:37 AM

Never let it be said that DC comics misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.  Fuckin morons.

31 Days of Horror: Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein (Article) - 10/15/2014 7:31:57 AM

This is perhaps my favorite comedy of all time.  I have watched it countless times and I still get laughs.  Abbott and Costello were in the peak form in this film, with flawless comedic timing.

This film was also my introduction, when I was a little kid, to all of the Universal monsters.

Thanks for including this film in your series, Tim!

The Flash: City of Heroes Review (Article) - 10/9/2014 8:31:45 AM

B ?!?!!  This deserved a solid A, in my opinion.  It was superpowers, solid, interesting characters, the opening threads of an over-arching storyline.... it was solid.  Yes, there is the potential to go all Smallville with it, with the Accident-spawned metahuman of the week (more of a mouthful than meteor freak of the week), but I'm willing to accept that with everything else I saw.  There were some great Easter eggs in there for all of us comics fans.  And perhaps most importantly, WE ALREADY HAVE THE F***ING COSTUME!!!!

I say stop complaining, Maniacs, and be happy that we have got something that looks to have the potential to be something really special, fun, and engaging, and not another Smallville.

Gotham: The Balloonman Review (Article) - 10/8/2014 7:37:45 AM

Yeah, three episodes in and we are caught trying to find any characters who aren't 2-dimensional cardboard cut-outs.  We have the "frustrated good cop," the "grousing, lazy, corrupt, yet somewhat likeable cop," the "angry, man-hating lesbian cop," the "corrupt politician police chief," the "cute, doe-eyed little girl thief with a heart of gold," and the "sad little boy."  That's it.  The plots are uninteresting, the acting is sub-par even for genre shows, and there is little to justify spending an hour with this show every week when there are better shows building around it.

My only disagreement with those above is that I somewhat enjoy watching Jada Smith try to chew scenery with the big boys.  She just goes over the top in every scene, and, while I think she overdoes it, at least she's trying.  My biggest problem with Fish Mooney is that we are supposed to be invested in her plans to take down Carmine Falcone... except anyone who knows the source material knows that Carmine Falcone is an ongoing problem for Batman as an adult, so obviously Mooney's plans won't succeed.

The concept for this show sounded good in someone's head, and there were no right-thinking voices at Fox and DC to say, "Yeah, that's just not going to work well."

Zombieland 2 Back on Track! (Article) - 10/1/2014 12:19:15 PM

Without the four main characters returning, this won't work.  It was the charm of the characters that really sold the first movie.
