Marvel in good hands with Disney.

t can go either way and what it's going to come down to is one man, the CEO & President of Disney. For 20 years that man was Michael Eisner and during his reign we saw legal battles with both Pixar and Miramax. Disney refused to allow Miramax to release Dogma, Kids & Fahrenheit 9/11 and micromanaged ABC into 4th place in the ratings, which was the first of the original three networks to fall so low...

(Cue the scary music)

In 2004 Roy E. Disney son of Walt rallied the shareholders and one year latter forced Eisner out. Michael Eisner's long time assistant and now new CEO & President of Disney Robert Iger took over. Two little shows, Lost & Desperate Houswives (along with other shows) helped catapult ABC into the ratings hunt and eventually became number one. He made Pixar a 7.4 billion dollar deal in stocks and made John Lasseter chief creative officer of animation while Steve Jobs became Disney's top shareholder with 7 percent.

Iger reassigned Peter Murphy, the company's chief strategic officer, and pledged to disband the company's strategic planning division. Iger also vowed to restore much of the decision-making authority that the division had assumed to the company's individual business units.

(Cue the victory music)

I hope this gives people a little bit of background as to where Disney was and where they are now. It was pretty facinating reading up on the history of Disney. Marvel was never interested in doing movies outside of the pg-13 purview and will give there darker properties (Punisher) to other studios. Robert Iger hopefully won't make the same mistakes as his predecessor giving Marvel the autonomy to be as creative as possible. And they lived happily ever after...
